92% funded! 4 days to go! kitchen update!

Whoa. You all are amazing and so very generous. We're very close to reaching our goal ($23,076 out of $25,000 has already been pledged by 375 backers!) and with 4 days to go I think we might just make it. Thank you for all your generous contributions, messages of encouragement, and your help in spreading the word! I'm deeply touched by your support.

The kitchen construction is coming along - the broken tiles have been replaced and the hood is being installed this week - it's 18 feet long! We have new sinks, walls painted and FRP'd, new lights, skylight panels, and other bits and pieces that come together to make a commercial kitchen. Next week we'll seal the floors, finish painting the walls, and then we'll be ready to bring in the equipment! It's really coming together and I'm so excited to start working in this new kitchen. I've also been meeting with some other food producers who might work in the space and I'm looking forward to the community that this kitchen will create.

Below you'll find some pictures of the kitchen in various stages of construction. The one with me in it was photographed by Kevin Johnson for the San Francisco Chronicle. In case you missed it, our new jam kitchen was mentioned in a recent article. Also, if you're interested in learning more about the effects that community food enterprises have on our local economy, check out this San Francisco Chronicle story that was published a couple months ago.
