About this project
In 2013, DMH’s Grammy-nominated project “Chamberland” was performed live in Berlin. These tracks were then bought back into the studio in the US, where they were edited and remixed into a set of electronic dance songs for the express purpose of making a killer vinyl LP and music download set.
As a small independent record label, we think that Kickstarter is an excellent way to get this project out to an audience that has an interest in supporting new and exciting music projects. It’s the perfect way to make sure supply equals demand, while getting you involved from the start and to offer you some really nice limited edition extras.
Please consider becoming a part of the process. Help make "chamberland: the berlin remixes" disc the amazing vinyl/download set that it deserves to be.
Chamberland: The Berlin Remixes (or “CBR” for short) is made up of eight songs. Each song represents a color (emerald, cobalt, bronze, amber, magenta, violet, crimson and opal). As the max recommended time for a 33 1/3 album is 18 minutes, the songs on the vinyl edition will be edited down to about 4 1/2 minutes each … however, the downloads (which will be available free with each LP and pledge) will contain the full-length remix version. The record will be professionally mastered for vinyl, pressed on 130g factory virgin vinyl with full color labels and the full color sleeve will be printed on premium heavy card stock.
During DMH’s stay in Berlin (Summer 2013), he had the great fortune to work at one of his favorite facilities in Berlin: NHOW Hotel – Berlin. With his laptop and Ableton Live set of the recently Grammy-nominated project “Chamberland”, he set out to perform the 8 songs in a “live” setting, within a studio in the clouds that overlooks the River Spree, Berlin’s Music Row, Oberbaumbrucke and the East Wall Gallery.
THE HALLOWEEN PERFORMANCE/COSTUME PARTY:
We thought that it would be a great idea to have a Kickstarter Performance/Costume Party in October just before Halloween. So, on Friday, October 25th, I’ve decided to do a special event … At 8PM, DMH will start the night off with a talk about “The Making of “Chamberland” and “Chamberland: The Berlin Remixes”. This’ll include behind-the-scenes info about how this Grammy-nominated project was made (it was unusual, to say the least). Then at 9PM, DMH will do a one hour live performance, in quad! Afterwards, you’ll already be in the heart of the Capitol Hill Area, just blocks from all the Halloween parties … You’ll already be parked, no muss, no fuss and ready to party!
When: Friday, October 25th, 2013
8PM Talk about “the making of chamberland: the berlin remixes”
9PM One hour “live” performance of “Chamberland: The Berlin Remixes”
Where: The Church, 1300 East Olive Way, Seattle, WA
Dress: Full Halloween Costume Party
So … HOW CAN YOU GET TICKETS TO THIS EVENT? Just go to DMH’s Kickstarter Page and make a pledge for his vinyl project … That’s all we ask, is that you support the effort to get this most excellent project onto vinyl!
HOW DID THIS KICKSTARTER GET STARTED?
Accidentally DMH stumbled across United Record Pressing’s crowd funding page that ties together one of his dreams … to release Chamberland on vinyl. To him, this was the perfect solution, as he was working on “Chamberland: The Berlin Remixes” and the release of these mixes onto vinyl is the perfect way to showcase the introduction of this dance music remix project to the public.
Risks and challenges
Well, the music has already been mixed, mastered and transferred to analog ... Given any unforeseen problems with transfer to disc (not a common problem), problems with delivery (keep your dogs away from the postman, please) and any major meltdowns ... all should go pretty much according to plan. Once the kickstarter term is over (October 1st), the vinyl pressing process takes 8 weeks, so everything might be ready to roll out the door by December (with a hopeful arrival by Christmas), but we're giving ourselves a buffer for delivery in January, just to make sure.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
