The Ultimate DIY Paint Kit for Canvas Sneakers!
High Schooler Diana Lopez shares her Rock Your Kicks experience!
Visionary Pepper Carson knows a lot about creativity and about bringing inspirational solutions to problems. As an author, commercial producer and entrepreneur, she has seen many projects come to fruition. Her latest brainchild is the “Rock Your Kicks” do-it-yourself art kit for sneakers.
"I’ve been putting my Producer skills to work in a new and creative way and have self-financed the launch of our first 5000 kits. We are so excited to bring our product to market in time for the holidays. It's such a great gift idea. Kickstarter seemed the perfect fit so we launched this campaign to help us reach our destination. We have almost everything we need. We are so close." Says Carlson
With this kit, sneaker wearers will be able to hand paint and customize their canvas sneakers using an array of colors. Artists and non-artists will be able to creatively express their individuality by decorating their sneakers. Custom stencils will aid in shape creation, word design and numerical qualities such as dates. Decorating by free-hand is also an option.
Customization of sneakers is so pricey in most markets that it is out of reach for most youth. With Rock Your Kicks, artists of every age will be able to create a design on a new or older pair of sneakers. By mixing the primary colors in the color palette, the younger artists will gain knowledge about creating new colors.
Inspire, Create, Encourage
It is our mission to encourage creative expression in kids young and old and to inspire art, laughter and joy WORLDWIDE.
Take your sneakers from simple to sensational with just a few brush strokes!
Everyday Sociology - Sneakers as Status Symbols By: Janis Prince Inniss
“Sneakers used to be … well, just shoes. Today kicks are so closely associated with hip-hop that there are at least 20 hip-hops songs associated with sneakers. (I only thought of Nelly’s “Air Force Ones” and Run DMC’s “My Adidas”.) Now sneakers are status symbols for a vast variety of the population—not only hip-hop performers and those who love that music. Once reserved for sports, sneakers are standard for casual wear and are paired by many in otherwise formal attire. But they’re all so clean! Many of them are gleaming white, in whole or in part. Matching every outfit of their owners.”
On-line and in-store sneaker customization has become very expensive and offer limited designs. Rock Your Kicks fills this void in the market place, allowing artists of all ages to create their own designs as well as revive their favorite sneaker.
Whether talented enough to paint freehand or finding it necessary to use the custom stencils included in the kit, anyone can take their shoes from plain to spectacular in just a few brush strokes.
Our educational instruction pamphlet will teach children not only how to paint their sneakers step-by-step but also how to create new colors by mixing primary colors.
Our Brand Ambassadors
Give children confidence and stimulate creativity.
Journal of Technology Education - Reported By: Trevor Davies
“There is a well-established link generally between achievement and self- confidence in creative teaching and learning which good teachers both recognize and attempt to promote. Kimbell et al. (1991) found that confidence is an important contributor to success in design and technology. In Fryer’s (1996) research, which involved 1028 teachers and lecturers, concluded: Just about all the staff said that they thought that building children’s confidence was crucial to the development of creativity. There can also be a self-fulfilling prophecy effect according to a social work lecturer: ‘if you tell people they are creative, they are more likely to be creative.
Breathe new life into old shoes!
One Rock Your Kicks Do It Yourself Paint Kit for canvas sneakers can paint a minimum of four pairs of sneakers and the customization options are endless. You can paint brand new shoes or you can reboot an old pair with any design you can imagine.
Our Rock Your Kicks DIY kits are manufactured from corrugated boxes that are made from 100% post-industrial wood by-products. Peek Packaging converts these wood chips into a 100% post-industrial recycled box. This gives our boxes the rigidity and integrity of boxes made from virgin fibers and the green packaging effect we are all looking for to keep our planet and forest healthy and sustainable.

Risks and challenges
As with any project, there can be setbacks during production. Designing and developing our product has taken 3 years and there have been many ups and downs. During this time we have cultivated great relationships with our suppliers. The turn around times vary per content element and we believe we have allowed for ample production time.
Our group will be able to handle any volume of production up to 5,000 units to ship by the middle of September and anything above and beyond the 5,000 units will ship in December.
In the event that one of our suppliers for materials falls through, we have located other local suppliers for each kit element in order to ensure your Rock Your Kicks DIY paint kit for canvas sneakers ships in a timely fashion.
All backers will receive a more accurate timeline in post-funding project updates.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
