I'm so thrilled to be making a new album and I would LOVE you to be a part of it! Thanks to Kickstarter, you can help me manifest my creative vision.
As many of you know, music blossomed inside of me after a very difficult period of my life. Never in a million years did I think I would compose songs, produce my own music, make a record, or sing in front of other humans, but apparently life had other plans for me! All I can say is I am immensely grateful. My musical journey over the past two years has been so profound, healing, and full of great learning.
After the release of my first CD, Soma-Bandhu: Friend of the Moon, I wasn't sure if I'd ever make another record... But, much to my delight, songs continued to flow out of me when I sat at my harmonium (or walked in the woods, cooked, dreamed, or pretty much did anything). For a few months I've been sharing these chants in my kirtans and people have been asking where they can get them. Unfortunately, the answer has been nowhere...but that is about to change!
Before I made an album, I had no idea how much time, money, and energy it would entail. There are sooo many steps involved in making a record—from hiring musicians and laying down tracks to mixing, mastering, creating graphics, and duplicating the CDs. Since all of this can really add up, every little contribution helps, no matter how small! While the estimated cost of making this record may well exceed $7,000, I decided to start there, as artists only get Kickstarter donations if we meet our pledge. With your help (and Divine grace!), I am confident that I will reach—and transcend!—my goal.
The beautiful thing about Kickstarter is that everyone who donates to the project receives something in return. I'm happy to offer signed copies of my album, a kirtan "lesson", house concert, etc. Those who donate $500 or more will also receive a 1/4 page ad in Common Ground magazine (where I work as the Senior Editor), which will give your business/service/whatever you want great exposure in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. We print 55,000+ issues of the magazine every month, so this is a wonderful opportunity!
Sharing my heart through music feels like such an incredible blessing. When I see that other people benefit from it as well, I am so humbled and touched to the core; I honestly can't imagine anything more fulfilling.
Thank you so much for your support—may your generosity return to you a million-fold!
