Introducing CRISSCROSS, an amazing social search system that lets you easily find new friends with diverse interests.
GETTING SOCIAL SEARCH RIGHT
Facebook is great for keeping track of people you know, but making new friends based on their interests is extremely difficult -- it can't even do simple searches. Try to find Japanese girls who like Radiohead -- it's almost impossible...
GOING BEYOND THE LIKE BUTTON
Criscross lets you add multiple interests such as places, people, things, activities. Then you attach yourself to each interest with an expanded "like" system that includes a dislike button (finally) and other actions related to each topic. For a band you can like - dislike - saw a concert - want to see a concert. For a place actions include like - dislike - want to go to - have been to - live in - have lived in - want to live in and so on for all our categories.
Here's a simple profile. The numbers next to each interest are the number of people who share that interest.
Within minutes you'll have a full profile of interests and their relationship to you. It's easy to add hundreds of interests and some profiles have thousands.
But how do we search through all this data?
AWESOME DRILL-DOWN SEARCH
Crisscross's main feature is an awesome drill-down search system that lets you SLICE & DICE through any cross-section of interests IN REAL TIME. It only takes four clicks to find that Japanese girl who likes Radiohead. On our live demo site (with real data from 20,000 people) there are 14 girls who like the band.
At each step of the way Crisscross lets you know how many people are left with the interests you're looking for. So you'll be able to see exactly how many people are left as you narrow down your choices.
We can then drill down further and find those girls who like Radiohead AND want to come to America AND who like cats. It's FUN and it's addictive.
FUN INTEREST PAGES
Each interest you add to Crisscross also creates its own landing page where you can see everyone who is related to that interest. People who like Lord of The Rings (or any other interest) and those who dislike the movie are able to discuss it on the same page. There are thousands of interest pages on almost every topic.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
Imagine what Crisscross will be like with hundreds of thousands of profiles from people from all over the world. With your help I can make it happen.
Let's make Crisscross the No 1 technology project on Kickstarter.
Feel free to explore over 20,000 real profiles that were collected in Japan on my LIVE alpha site. Please note that some photo images may be missing, some files are out of date, and that some functionality such as the login system is currently unavailable. That's why I need your Kickstart!
1. How did this project start?
The project was originally started when I lived in Japan. During the transfer from Tokyo to Sarasota some of the project files were lost. Most of these have been restored, but I need your help to take the project to the next level.
2. How will you use funds?
Funds will be used primarily to get the system up to Public Beta. I will hire a small programming team and it will take about three months. Our main aims will be...
- reinstating existing functions (logins, pictures) = less than two weeks
- rewriting of the core of the system to simplify the data tree = one month
- Facebook login integration = one week
- web interface tidying = ongoing
- MOBILE VERSION! = one to two months
Any funds I receive over the target will be used for further system improvements. I hope the Kickstarter community and you, our donors, will help to promote the site so we can build the user base.
I am obsessed with efficiency of operation. Go to japantoday.com and guess how many people are needed to create that sites' full daily output. I'll let you know at the end of the challenge - you'll be amazed.
3. How can we be sure you will do this project?
I am an experienced software project manager and was responsible for bringing japantoday.com from concept to one of the world's largest news sites. I have been working on this project for a long time, but now I think the timing is perfect to take it to a larger size.
I am very accessible. I am always available via email and am very happy to communicate with Kickstarters via Facebook and on Crisscross itself.
4. Can I see what you have so far?
Feel free to go to crxss.com and follow the links there and below to discover how the drill-down search works. Please note that this is ALPHA software: the login system is currently not operational, some files are missing, some are old and others have no pictures (that's why it needs the Kickstart!). The site is also on temporary servers so it may be slow.
5. What about the long-term? How will you give back?
I pledge that 10% of any profits will be given to charity. In fact, you can get to choose which charity as one of the rewards.
6. Can I volunteer to help?
Of course. If you'd like to get involved please feel free to contact me directly at email@example.com, I'd love to hear from you!
How Kickstarter Works
Kickstarter is an all-or-nothing model; if we don’t reach our goal by the end of the fundraiser, your account will not be charged.
To pledge to a project, just click the green “Back This Project” button on this page. You will be asked to input your pledge amount and select a reward. From there, you will go through the Amazon checkout process. Note that you must finish the Amazon checkout process for your pledge to be recorded.
