Help us get a jump start on the release of our spring clothing line!
We are a DIY clothing company based out of Philadelphia and comprise entirely of artists who are still in high school (for the time being). Throughout the last year we have made a lot of progress and learned a lot about business and the process that goes into putting your art on a shirt. We've realized that as the spring is coming up, it's time to take our creative abilities to the next level.
One thing that has been holding our progress back is funding, so we're here to try and get some help. The combined cost of getting screening supplies, chemicals, wholesale shirts, fabric, and production of apparel such as hats is not overwhelmingly expensive, but is still out of our grasp financially.
With all of your help and support we will be able to bring all of the pieces of our spring line together much more seamlessly and will be able to provide the quality that we have started gaining a reputation for. We will have all of the supplies we need and the extra funds to get things like patches, stickers and buttons made that will be sold as well as sent to you for backing us!
We have heavy ties to the Philadelphia art, skateboarding and music communities specifically Rap and Hip-Hop Music and are extremely supportive of other young artists who are trying to make it like we are. We are a sponsor and collaborator of rap collective Cult Fortified, Indie rock group Idle Idols, and sponsor various young rising skateboarders.
We follow a fairly standard process for silk screen artwork and preparation to print on shirts. We make our designs either by hand or on the computer. Once our designs are done we print them onto Mylar sheets which are taped onto the silkscreens we are going to print with and the screens are exposed to a concentrated light. The final product is the silkscreen with our design on it ready to be printed
What we need:
We feel that we have the talent and drive to succeed and are doing something unique that is worth noticing, but we've hit a wall stopping us from moving forward by as great leaps as we have been. Meeting our goal and getting the funding to progress, will take us far beyond what we are capable of at this moment and everyone will be able to see our hard work and dedication projecting itself from our work that we produce.
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
There are always risks and challenges when it comes to silk screening and when you rely on an outside source to make products for you, in our case 5 panel hats. When screens don't wash out the way they were expected to as frustrating as it is, the only route of action is to take another screen and burn it repeating the process until a design comes out how we envisioned it. We are no strangers to this process as we've re-burned screens time and time again. Another challenge will be getting the samples and approving swatches of fabric for some of our new shirts with pockets and our handkerchiefs. Although approving the samples and getting new ones made will be a bit of a challenge, it isn't a major one that will stand in our way.
Despite the challenges that are posed to us, we have stuck our ground thus far and will continue to do so. The only way to get to the level we would like to be at is by stepping up to challenges and taking risks and from the start of this company we have overcome every challenge that we have faced.
Please remember that if we do not reach our funding goal of 2,000$ we won't receive ANY funding for our project, so please do what you can to help us.If we surpass our goal of 2,000$ it will only allow us to take our work a step further
Thank you all so much,
