Before I get too far into this, if you're new to Jared's music, check this out. www.lookleft.us That site has all 6 previous records, Transition being the most recent.
This is the new solo album from Jared Clark/Pepper Coyote, formerly Look Left, but it hardly feels right calling it a solo album as the amount of musical help I’m hoping to pull into this one is unprecedented for me. Let’s break it down
The primary goal is the album, or specifically CDs. The initial $4000 covers paying for the art, the initial run of 1000 CDs in beautiful, 6 panel, shatterproof cases, and the shipping of said CDs.
The artist I’m working with is S0lardog whom you can find on twitter @S0lardog. He’s a great guy and I’m looking forward to having his art as the face of this project.
Stretch goals are where we can find out what my music would sound like if it were touched by professional hands. (Probably better). I record all my stuff in the back room of my house. I have no formal training in mixing or recording. I also can’t play drums or electric guitar very well. SO, I got help.
$5000 ($1000 over the goal) DONE
I get my friends to help me out.
-Fox Amoore will do keyboards Take a look at his stuff. He’s RIDICULOUS.
-Runtt will do drums He also drummed on THIS album we did. Amazing. You have no idea how much he can add to a track. https://foxamoore.bandcamp.com/album/hashtag
-Koro will do electric guitar I can’t shred. Koro can shred. Let him shred. https://DragLines.bandcamp.com
$7000 ($3000 over the goal) SMASHED
Professional Mixing. Simon Rhodes is a multi grammy award-winning engineer. He’s the best. The fact that he’s working with me at all is INSANE. He works at Abbey Road in the UK, and there isn’t anyone I’d trust more with these tracks. I’d give you a link to his work, but there’s too much. Google him and see what I mean. He’s probably mixed a movie you like.
$8000 ($4000 over the goal) OBLITERATED!
Mastering! I’m not even sure who’ll be mastering the thing at this point as I can’t imagine a scenario that we raise THIS MUCH, but hey. Let’s go for it.
$10,000 ($6000 over the goal) DEEEEMOLISHED
Vinyl. It seems like a lot, but dang is vinyl expensive. This will cover a limited run of vinyl records and if funding reaches this level, reward tiers will be adjusted. The records will be available to backers first and there will be fewer than 500 made.
This album will happen whether this kickstarter succeeds or not. The music is written, and the tracks are recorded. YOU can make this something special. I’m ready to take this leap. I know you’ll be there to catch me. Thank you for reading.
Risks and challenges
The only risk is my ability to coordinate and produce the rewards. There are the logistics of getting the album printed, shirts printed, buttons made, slide-whistles whistled, etc. I've done most of this stuff before and I've tried to give myself plenty of time. The other risk is that my musician friends don't come through for me, but I'm really not worried. They're trustworthy people. I'm confident that we won't let you down.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
