About this project
I'm a film student at Regent University and I'm passionate about telling stories about real people, in real circumstances who come face to face with redemption.
I just received the news that one such film I directed last summer 'The Silver Crown' made it into 'Short Film Corner' of the Cannes Film Festival in France. The Cannes Film Festival is one of the most, if not THE most prestigious festival in the world. (check the link for more info: http://www.festival-cannes.com/fr.html )
This festival lasts from May 16th - May 27th, 2012 and I'm planning on attending for the final week of the festival, May 21st - 27th. During this week, I will be promoting my film as well as meeting with industry professionals and developing relationships. This single week could have an incredible impact on my future as a filmmaker.
IndieWire online magazine gives a fantastic definition of what the 'Short Film Corner' is and what it means to young filmmakers:
"With registration at the Short Film Corner being reserved to short films with 'cinema artistic values,' this is a corner in a neighborhood of some prestige, offering an increased chance of your film being selected by other international festivals and making your film accessible to all Cannes festival-goers ... Basically, as I refrain from high kicks, jazz hands, and breaking into an adapted rendition of 'New York, New York,' if you can show it there, you can show it anywhere ... It would also be fair, therefore, to say that the directors and producers of films chilling on the corner today are also likely to be among the names who'll be influencing the global film industry tomorrow."
This is an incredible opportunity to mingle with Hollywood professionals, develop relationships, get noticed, and potentially get a deal to work on larger projects. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity but I can only go with your support.
