Who We Are
The Michigan Comic Collective is a state-wide initiative created to provide an outlet for Michigan native and Michigan-based writers and artists to get their work out there for people to see. What started as a small group of local friends wanting to do some comic projects together quickly ballooned into a group approaching 30 collaborators and a number of locally-owned comic shops. By partnering with brick and mortar retail comic stores we strive to be a pipeline for Michigan creators to see their work on the shelves of their local comic book store and to have fans in the state enjoy their high-quality, home-grown entertainment.
Our First Collaboration
The group soon decided that the best way to move forward was by creating a comic anthology giving Michigan comic lovers and beyond a taste of what MCC has to offer. After taking submissions and forming effective art teams, the 110+ page anthology is nearly complete and ready for our Michigan-based printer to produce the initial print run of 350 copies.
Providing we reach our $4,000 goal, our finances will break down thusly:
Printing costs: $3,200 (350 full color copies, plus various prints for rewards)
Amazon/Kickstarter fees: $400
Estimated Shipping Costs for rewards: $400
Publicity and Marketing the Anthology
After printing, a huge signing event with all the MCC creators will take place at Coy's Comics in Saginaw, Michigan with all the pomp and circumstance we can muster. A handful of copies are earmarked to go to the shelves of the other stores in Michigan that have partnered with us to help the project see the light of day.
