This documentary chronicles an unsolved case of arson in a gay men's bar that resulted in the murder of thirty-two people.

On a June night in New Orleans, 1973, hate raged up the steps of a men's bar and consumed thirty-two people. The authorities called it arson. Others said it was God's own hand. No one was ever charged for the crime.

My focus is to tell the story of what happened, honor the victims, including the mother who died with her two sons,  their friends and family, not allow their memory and the event to become forgotten and remain unknown outside of the city of New Orleans. It is also my intention to present a way for healing to replace the pain of circumstance and to offer a healthy solution for personal conflict, to find an appropriate resolution.

Far too often, people still continue to struggle with their sexual identity. Some take their conflict out on themselves or even on other people. I hope to contribute towards a better awareness for the general public and LGBT communities that we can be more supportive of the struggles of sexual identity, and that it needn’t end in violence.

It is my goal to enter this film is national and international film festivals, such as Sundance. Additionally, It is also my intention to allow this film to be used for educational purposes in classroom settings, public events, ect. at no charge.

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter

There are the obvious challenges to work through, such as with equipment malfunctions, funding, the weather, ect. To address these situations, I have consulted experienced filmmakers for advice on dealing with adverse situations, hired experienced professionals as part of the crew, as well as hired a well-established cinematographer, who has worked with National Geographic and PBS, who will also act as a consultant to the project, along with her cinematography duties. I have also hired a professional interviewer.

In addition, I’ve hired a professional musician/composer to score the film, professional musicians to provide music for the soundtrack and nationally prominent poets to provide and read poetry during key points of this film.
Finally,I have acquired a production assistant, still photographer and leads for professional editors.

In essence, I have surrounded myself with experienced and professional people in order to maintain a high level of quality in the making and distribution of this film, while at the same time, holding true to my vision and intention of Tracking Fire.

As with any project, the unexpected can happen. If and when it does, the experienced crew I have gathered will be well-able to handle theses situations in a professional way. We come prepared for delays and obstacles, scene revisions and interview schedules. We have several back-up plans to go forward with this project without delay.
