About this project
My name is Camilla and I'd like your help in producing my new collection for Spring 2013. The name of my line is SOLDAT tailoring.
ABOUT MY PROJECT
I am in the process of designing and producing my new collection for Spring 2013. I need your help to purchase new fabrics & trims. I also need help in setting up a design space and hiring skilled local dressmakers and tailors to help me build and expand my business. Also on the list of things to do- a new photoshoot (need to pay for photographer, model, hair and make-up) print new catalogs, mail catalogs, Fashion Business Inc membership and a new sewing machine.
I have been chosen to show my collection at the MAGIC tradeshow in Las Vegas, part of their EMERGING DESIGNER SHOWCASE. Only 15 or so Designers are chosen so this is a huge opportunity. With your help I will be able to purchase fabrics and trims for production, grade all my patterns and continue to work with local highly skilled professionals.
My styles will only be sold in boutiques, not mass produced, which will also help local boutique owners and bring money to ‘Main Streets’ across the country.
ABOUT MY COLLECTION
SOLDAT tailoring is a line of Women’s Suits for the Creative Professional. I started the line because whenever I needed to dress up for a meeting or a presentation (usually for a buyer or a team from a corporate office) I had nothing to wear. I wanted to dress up business style but still look like the Fashion Designer and not like a corporate professional. And to me when you wear a well made and perfectly fitting suit jacket there’s nothing stopping you!
So I decided to create a line of well made, great fitting suit jackets, skirts and pants that are edgy and cool. I use recycled materials, organic cottons and other natural materials and trims whenever I can. My favorite fabric is a polyester blend made out of recycled plastic bottles! So not only are you stylin’ when you wear SOLDAT you are also helping Mother Nature.
The name SOLDAT means ‘soldier’ in Swedish. (Yes I am from Finland but part of a minority of Swedish speaking Finns.) I chose the name because the suit is a sort of a uniform we wear similar to a soldier wearing a uniform. My husband served in the military so the men and women of the military are close to my heart.
SOLDAT was launched at the POOL TRADESHOW in Las Vegas in Fall of 2008, since then the line has been featured at the FOCUS tradeshow in Los Angeles.
The response has been great. The buyers have commented on the amazing quality, the tailoring and how this is truly a missing niche in the market.
Kickstarter is the world's largest funding platform for creative projects.
This is how it works: You find a project you like (pick me, pick me!!) and then you decide how much you would like to donate. You can choose a reward and donate accordingly or just donate without receiving a reward.
Minimum donation is $1 and even a dollar can make or break the deal. You see, if a project needs $1000 to be funded and only receives $999 the project will not be funded. Once the project hits the goal it will be funded on the date mentioned. And that is when your credit card is charged.
So please- if you can’t donate money now, please be kind and share my project on your Facebook etc and maybe one of your friends can. Share the love and spread the word! I am forever thankful.
