I've been writing and recording music for years, but on this project I decided to go all in. I hired David Beeman (Old Lights, Nee) to produce the record. He put together a great band of accomplished musicians to help flesh out the songs. On bass was David Vandervelde (Secretly Canadian Records), on guitar we had Curt Brewer (Kentucky Knife Fight/Yankee Racers), on Keys was Nate Jatcko (Yankee Racers) and on Drums was David Beeman.
We recorded at Native Sound where Kit Hamon (Old Lights) helped engineer. We recorded to 16 Track analog tape, mostly live, which resulted in a great classic sound. David Vandervelde is slated to mix the record in early November and then I will have the album mastered and released by January 2013.
The result is something that I am truly proud of. It is by far the best project I've been involved with and I'm excited to share it with you.
The funding of this record is going mostly to paying session musicians and the studio fees. I put in a lot of my own cash as well because I believe in this and wouldn't start this kickstarter if I didn't. I will be hitting the road in 2013 to support the record so keep an eye out to kaufmanmusic.com for dates.
Thanks for your time.
