Call Me Perfect is the first sequel to my book, Just Call Me Is (released Dec. 1). Just like this one, Is was funded by you guys here on Kickstarter, and also like this one, is written to the reader from the reader's Inner Self (or Is!) Call Me Perfect will be formatted in much the same way as the first -

In this book, though, the focus is on body image and self-love - in all its forms. Through a story and tons of exercises, readers will be invited to, not only learn about, but write about, self esteem, food, eating struggles, body image, consent, and even gender. There will also be several pages in the back of the book dedicated to *real body* photos - i.e., not Photoshopped; not models.
Now that's beautiful.

- Design Services
- Self Publication
- Marketing, Travel, & Copies to distribute to bookstores and backers*
*If you backed my first project, you'll notice that the goal has been raised a bit higher for this one, mostly because I didn't imagine how expensive marketing and distribution would be!

When I was a kid, I thought I was too fat. I didn't know how to handle my emotions. And so, like so many other kids do, I turned to dieting.
I was 11.
By the time I was 18, I was in treatment for an out-of-control eating disorder, I was unhealthy, and I hated my body.
I know if you're reading this, you can either relate or know someone who can. Many adults struggle each day with the same thoughts on a loop - "I'm too fat," "I'm too thin," "I can't eat that," "I wish I looked like that."
But more importantly - so do kids.
I don't mean to minimize the suffering of adults, but if we don't start helping kids and teenagers learn to handle their emotions instead of turning to food or starving themselves; learn to see the underlying hurt; learn to be mindful; and learn to love their bodies, they will end up in the same loop.
I'm ready to make a change. Are you?

Risks and challenges
The good news is, there isn't much risk in this project, as the book is already written, I have a great designer, and I will be illustrating and publishing it myself.
The only real tricky thing for me is: the dreaded marketing! I'll be pouring much more of the budget into marketing post-publication for this book, but it's still something this writer (non-marketer) struggles with.
Honestly, any help on that front would be much appreciated! <3
