Miniature progress... :)

Minis, minis, minis... oh, and we also have some minis...

Well, it's been all about the miniatures for the last few weeks and they've been coming thick and fast. Now we have a few in the hand we thought we'd show you some up close.

We've done a video below so you can have a good look at some of the latest ones, but we also have more... they are currently being painted so did not have them at hand for the video. We do have some renders and photos though so all good :oD

Here's the video look at the ones we do have...

.

So what else have we got that's cool...

First off we have that cool Metropolitan Pack with those hardy folk who scratch a living each day in the Core Space galaxy, never knowing if this will be the day they are swept up by a mindless Harvester or hoodwinked into joining a band of traders on some foolish mission.

Below are the drawings we did while the Kickstarter was running...

Here they are as drawn by yours truly

Then we have them all nicely sculpted and ready for table top tremendousness.

Same again, but now fully realised in spanking 3D goodness

The Metropolitan Pack minis are currently being painted up ready for some serious gaming at the UK Games expo in June. We'll show you some nice pictures of those when they come in.

Next we have the Female Galactic Guard. She's sporting the regulation Energy Rifle and holding a riot grenade. This is a snap shot from the 3D software of the finished model.

Same again here, but this time the Galactic Guard with Energy Pistol, this one's also in the video above.

Also the newly posed Guard with Energy pistol... Love this one :)

With a face that looks like he's had one to many visits with the surgeons on Nexu'ak Outpost, Captain Sondar is ready for action in this render below. He's actually happy, but his face is incapable of smiling :)

All the weapons in Core Space have been designed by us with a rich lore behind them. They perform in the game based on their design and we've given careful thought to their history, value and availability to the traders of your crews. All of the weapons sculpted on the minis can be found amongst the equipment tokens in the game.

We had the weapons sculpted separately before any of the minis so that they can be handed to our sculptors for the characters to hold. Sondar above is holding a P-11 Military Pistol.

For fun we we took one of the weapons (a machine pistol) and printed it at a much larger scale... looks very nice.

This pistol can be found in the hands of many of our minis, from Director Zool to Captain Weis. With 3 combat dice at short range it's one of the few pistols with 3 attack dice that is not a rare item and so can be purchased between missions... if you have the assets to buy it :)

Let's Play - Prison Break!

If you missed it there's a nifty Let's Play vid posted by Beasts of War a few days ago:

Shows

For those of you who are regular visitors to our shows we should let you know that we will not be attending one of them. This year we decided not to exhibit at Salute for two reasons. Firstly, the stand size has become too small for our ever increasing range (we will try to attend next year providing we can grab a larger stand size).

Also, with Core Space being a new venture incorporating new production challenges we thought we could use the 3 weeks of preparation time more wisely and it's paying off well so far :oD

We will be at the UK Games Expo as usual on the first weekend in June. There we will be demonstrating Core Space so if you can make the show come over for a game or two... or three ... we'll have the largest stand we have ever had so it should be a blast :)

We will leave you with the renders for Weis, Ellen and Beast :)

.

That's about it for now, time to jump back into the pre-production emails and Skype videos that dominate this stage of the process and of course... play some games of Core Space...

Over and out for now...

That is awesome! I always loved the process of creating and producing. Seeing the idea taking form and coming to the real world. =D So thanks a lot for sharing your process with us!

And like people say, the first time we never forget! xD Hahaha!

      Good vibes to you guys!
      Cheers!

Hey guys, yes these are 3D prints. We have our own printer and it was used to do the minis on the KS too. However it is not as good as the ones used in the manufacturing so the minis will be even more detailed. This means that when they are cast to plastic (this is where some detail is lost which is normal) then you should get back to similar quality as those in the video.

We have some samples of minis (production ones) and they are very good indeed. We also have adjustments to make too, as mentioned in the video. So we have closed up some hands that were open, increased the depth of some cuts (especially hair) and so on for the best print.

This is the first time we have produced minis so we are super hyped, but also super careful, no corners are cut and only the best quality plastics etc etc.

We should have some stunning minis at the end and then its onto some more :oD

I'm liking the miniatures. The look like they will be fun to paint and will look great on the table. I have one concern though ... that the skin texture on the aliens as presented ( Ooma and the Beast ) will not be deep enough and will be lost after painting. Any plans on deepening said skin textures ?

Looking good! Particularly liked the funky hair on the female ganger! Feel free to put more of these together as you go. ;)

Might be nice to hear next about wat sort of rules work you are doing, the game seemed quite a way along from the earlier let s plays of BoW. That said need to watch the new one...

Loved the update, guys! The miniatures video is awesome, helps a lot to keep the hype up!

Just a small concern from me, might be stupid but... These minis shown are 3D printed, right. Really, really nice miniatures and the details, oh boy! But, will those details really stay when casting then in plastic?

I hear plastic shrinks when casted and smaller details might be lost. Hey, I believe in your work, guys! Like I said, I might be stupid here to be concerned at all with that... xD It's just that they are looking SO COOL I wish they stay like that! <3

Anyway, again, loved the update! Thanks a lot for the attention you give to us. Makes this one of the best KS I've backed so far!

      Cheers!

Captain Sondar is my favorite out of what was shown at least. Also that larger gun looks awesome. Is there anyway to make the file to print one available?

Great looking miniatures, loved the close-ups on the video. Cheers for keeping us informed, a credit to kickstarter ;) Really looking forward to getting this game, hype gained watching that BoW let's play.
