Just in case you didn't see the news letters. I should have had shipping figured out WAAAAAAAY before now. For this you have my deepest apologies.
As of this point, Shipping is OPTIONAL, not required, but greatly appreciated.
If you wish to help with shipping I ask just $5 more regardless of the number of rewards you have backed for domestic shipping. And no more than $15 for international.
You should see a 'Manage Your Pledge' button which you can click and change your pledge to pledge+$5 then continue and re-verify with amazon to confirm that you are in-fact authorizing the extra $5 pledge. Your reward level shouldn't change unless you choose another option from the list.
Thanks again for your patience and understanding- Mikhail
Thank you everyone helping us reach our goal so quickly! We have some Addons for you.
In addition to the official rewards tiers I'd like to offer some additional options for backer rewards while being fair to those in the limited entry tiers (early bird, and not so early bird). At the end of the project we send out a survey to get your shipping info and to clarify what rewards you have selected. To place an addon simply update your pledge amount according to the following:
- $15 for an additional Strike-A-Light.
- $25 for an additional Strike-A-Light Fire Kit. Available only if you have already pledged $30 and above.
- $45 for an additional Strike-A-Light Fire Kit + Esbit Spirit Burner. Available only if you have already pledged $45 and above.
- $55 for an additional FireAnt Stove. Available only if you have already pledged $45 and above.
No more bulky canisters or leaky fuel bottles. No more pumps or faulty "O" rings. Imagine a quiet, convenient, and efficient way to cook your food or boil water on the trail without being dependent on fossil fuels. Imagine a stove that is as light as air and packs flat, small enough to fit in a shirt pocket. Imagine preparing a hot meal with only a handful of sticks which nature provides free and abundantly.
Time to slow down and cook.
High-tech stoves certainly put out a ton of heat. The trade off is that they require pressurized canisters or bottles of white gas or Iso-Butane. When that fuel is used up, those bulky canisters need special disposal for safety and environmental reasons.
The newest member of the Emberlit family of ultra-light wood burning stoves.
The FireAnt re-defines the ultra-light, collapsible, wood burning stove. Don’t be fooled by its tiny size, like the insect it’s named after, the FireAnt brings the heat. Because the FireAnt burns sticks and debris, which are free and abundant, there is no need to worry about running out of fuel on the trail. And with the option of integrating a Trangia or Esbit spirit burner, or any number of solid fuels, the versatility of the FireAnt is unmatched.
- Less than 2.9 ounces of pure Titanium, yet strong enough to hold over 100 pounds. It will not corrode or wear through. Guaranteed.
- The FireAnt packs flat and will fit in a shirt pocket or just about any kit.
- The unique side feed feature utilizes long sticks for fuel for consistent heat, minimal tending, and the ability to focus on cooking rather than feeding the stove.
- The designed integration with Trangia and Esbit spirit burners, Live Fire, and other solid/gel fuels adds tremendous convenience and versatility.
- The FireAnt is also a lot of fun to use. The whole purpose of getting outside is to slow down and engage in our surroundings. The FireAnt actually requires making and tending a real fire. It takes some practice with fire craft, but cooking is all the more enjoyable with the soft glow of real flames
Evolution of the Emberlit FireAnt
The Emberlit Stove has come a long way since its inception. These are just some of the prototypes representing milestones in development. My very first attempt at designing a stove was an utter failure. It was then that I realized I had to focus on function rather than sophistication. Elegant and efficient simplicity has been the hallmark of the Emberlit Stove ever since. The FireAnt came about in response to people asking for an even lighter, smaller, Emberlit Stove, and one that worked better with the Trangia Spirit burner.
Virtually every dimensional relationship and measurement were systematically tweaked from one stove iteration to the next and tested for efficiency. As is evident from the conditions of the stoves, they were tested to exhaustion. The FireAnt is the culmination of all those tests and tweaks. Every feature of this little stove has been tested and retested to be sure that it works.
We’ve been saving our pennies for tooling, You can help push us over the top!
With your support we will be able to get the FireAnt into the hands and packs of those who love the outdoors as much as we do. We will be manufacturing the FireAnt here in the USA. While it is cheaper to manufacture products overseas, I take great pride in knowing that I'm helping people make a living here at home. Below is an image of the tooling that was required to manufacture the larger Emberlit Camp Stove.
As you can see the dies are intricate and require tremendous skill and expertise to build. They are also very expensive. But, they are necessary to produce the FireAnt with the quality I demand at an affordable price.
Initially, I had to clean stoves in my kitchen, saving everything I could for a year to afford the tools to mass produce the Emberlit. I'd like to skip that phase with the FireAnt.
We've got a great relationship with our tool maker and he's agreed to work with us to get the FireAnt manufactured ASAP. We've been saving our pennies and nearly have enough to start work on the tooling. With your support we can get things rolling and bring the FireAnt to light.
When reach our goal, you as a backer will get first dibs at the production run of the FireAnt and at a hugely discounted price from final retail. Also know that you will be helping to keep the lights on and people employed at several local small businesses, that each play a part in the manufacturing of the FireAnt.
Thank you so very much for your support!
A Little about the backer rewards...
Besides the FireAnt we've been offering our custom Strike-a-Lights as a reward for your support. The idea came about when my Boy Scouts started fighting over the one flint and steel that I had. While I don't have the skill or means to hammer forge them I am a professional artist (VFX/Animation) and I have access to a laser cutter. So I designed shapes that were both aesthetically pleasing and wonderfully functional. It is an old time skill with an updated look.
Risks and challenges
The good news is that I've done this before. The FireAnt will drop into the manufacturing pipeline that has already been developed and is in current use for the manufacturing of the Emberlit. All we need are the stamping dies to put into the press and we can start pumping out FireAnts. Barring a meteor strike or zombie outbreak, I don't anticipate any major issues with the FireAnt tooling. If there are any delays, rest assured that backers will be kept up-to-date with every detail until the issue is resolved.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
