Codename: Oracle Card Game (Canceled)
A struggle of wills between a CIA Psychic Operative and a KGB Mentalist with the fate of the world at stake!
Codename: Oracle is set in an alternate 1960’s world where major world powers employ clandestine psychic agents. Uniquely talented and highly trained, these agents could see into the future, rip secrets out of the minds of enemies, and act as psychic assassins.
In Codename: Oracle, you are an American CIA Psychic Operative or a Soviet KGB Mentalist in a struggle of wills with the fate of the world at stake. Can you pry the launch codes out of your target's mind before a nuclear showdown?
Codename: Oracle is a 2-player game that takes 30 minutes to play.
Each player controls a "Mind-field", which is a grid of Zener* cards that the player uses to perform strikes, shields, and focuses; this is done by manipulating the mind-field to group matching Zener cards together in the same row, column, or 2 x 2 grid. Depending on the symbol on the Zener cards, the strikes, shields, and focuses have different in-game effects.
* Zener cards were designed by perceptual psychologist Karl Zener in the early 1930's and used to conduct experiments for extra-sensory perception (most often clairvoyance).
In addition to their mind-field, each player sets his "Code Row" at the beginning of the game. This is a row of five Zener cards, picked and placed by the player in whatever order he chooses.
Players win the game in one of two ways:
- Correctly guess each card in the opponent's code row
- Deal enough psychic damage to the opponent to move the player's life total to zero
- 50 card CIA Zener card deck
- 50 card KGB Zener card deck
- 2 die-cut player boards (used as a player aid and for tracking psychic damage)
- 2 player actions reference cards
- 2 tokens for use on psychic damage track
- Rulebook (full color) with illustrations/examples of play
The player boards are a handy reference for the effects of strikes, shields, and focuses that each set of matching Zener cards have; they also have a track to use to adjust life points when psychic damage is taken.

$7 - Card Sleeves - Add $7 to your pledge and receive 100 high quality card sleeves to protect your Zener cards during play. There is no additional shipping cost for card sleeves if included with a pledge for at least 1 copy of the game.
$8 - Designer's Autograph - Add $8 to your pledge and Andrew J. Clark will autograph your copy on your choice of the box top or inside the box top. If you are pledging for more than one autographed copy, add $8 for each additional autograph beyond the first. We will ask where you want the autograph in the post campaign survey. There is no additional shipping cost for an autographed copy of the game. Disclaimer: Autographed copies will be shipped without shrink wrap.
$10 - 2 Tuck Boxes - Add $10 to your pledge and receive 2 custom printed tuck boxes to store your Zener cards. There is no additional shipping cost for tuck boxes if included with a pledge for at least 1 copy of the game.
$15 - Artist's Print - Add $15 to your pledge and receive a professionally mounted artist's print signed and numbered by designer/artist Andrew J. Clark. These prints will be full color and feature artwork from the game. Prints will measure 5" x 7" and be mounted on 8" x 11" material. There is no additional shipping charge for Artist's Prints if included with a pledge for at least 1 copy of the game. If pledging only for artist's prints, please add $10 for shipping to any U.S. address, and $23 shipping for any international address.
$30 - 2 Player Mats - Add $30 to your pledge and receive two themed player mats (1 for each player) to lay out your Mind-Field and Code Row on. These mats will be a high quality mouse-pad like material with 1/8" thickness. There is no additional shipping charge for addresses in the United States. Please add $10 for shipping to any international address; this is due to the extra weight and size the package will have.
$20,000 OR 350 pledgers - If we reach this funding goal or have 350+ pledgers, we will upgrade the components to include 2 acrylic stones (1 red, 1 blue) to use for psychic damage markers.
$25,500 - If we reach this funding goal, the already fine quality cards will be upgraded to 300gsm Bluecore Casino Cardstock. This is the same type of cardstock that Magic: The Gathering and other CCG's use - it has great "snap" and is able to stand up to repeated shuffling.
Additional Over-Funding Rewards will be revealed as the campaign progresses.
Domestic - Domestic shipping is included in each pledge level!
International - Each pledge level contains instructions on how much to add for shipping to Canada or other international addresses. We value our international backers, so we are offering the same reduction in shipping costs that residents of the United States receive. We encourage you to organize a group buy at the four copy or six copy levels to maximize your savings!
We take great care in shipping our games. Your rewards will be shipped in either a flat rate USPS box or in a brand new brown box with ample padding to protect it during transit.
Wishing Tree Games was founded in 2011 by friends and long-time gamers Brent Cunningham and Leo Agosta.
Brent has been gaming 30+ years, ever since he was given a free copy of Basic Dungeons and Dragons at the Dungeon Hobby Shop in Lake Geneva, WI. From there, his gaming interests expanded to other RPG's, and then on to Magic: The Gathering and strategy board games. Brent's professional background is in sales, merchandising, and marketing. He lives in Lake Geneva, WI, has one son, and a beautiful grand-daughter as of late March.
Leo, known to his friends as Lee, has been an avid gamer for as long as he can remember. Lee loved military games from a young age, and played Dungeons and Dragons with some "older" high school kids...one of whom was Ernie Gygax. Lee was a contributing author to People, Places, and Things: A Portal to Adventure, published by Mayfair Games; and he also co-wrote Things: A Chill Product, also published by Mayfair in 1993.
Wishing Tree Games' first release, Seven Sisters, was successfully funded via kickstarter in 2012, and debuted on the big stage at Gen Con.
Wishing Tree Games is a small fish in a big pond filled with much larger fish. Without the resources that those big fish have, publication of some great games is not possible for us. Through kickstarter, the generosity of pledgers allows us to fulfill our dreams of bringing fantastic games to market.
A Note from the Designer
Whither it was improvising rules for my action figures or making up ridiculous sports in my backyard, I have been designing games for as long as I can remember. Gaming has been a big positive in my life; it has been a catalyst for learning, a starting point for many of my strongest friendships, and source of endless fun.
Since mid-2012 I have started taking the process of design seriously, with a passion for adding something new to the hobby. I enjoyed making Codename: Oracle, and it taught me a lot about the design process. I hope it will be the first of many offerings to the gaming community.

Risks and challenges
Risks and challenges for this project include possible production and shipping delays or fulfillment delays.
We have successfully kickstarted one other project, and feel like we have learned from experience how to best go about meeting these challenges.
We are working with a well-known printer with no communication barriers, and have discussed with them extensively the time it should take to get files ready, approve proofs, produce the game, and get it shipped to us. It is a lengthy process, but we have a good idea how long that will take and it is reflected in our anticipated delivery date. Be aware though that unforeseen complications could arise (weather during shipping, etc.), that could delay a project. We feel we communicated very well with backers of our previous project, and promise to keep you informed if there are unforeseen delays.
Fulfillment is always a challenge for small companies, but we have streamlined our process based on our experiences with our first project. We are confident that we will be able to get items to backers very quickly after we receive them from the printer.
