Downloadable PDF self-study guides to wine, overflowing with great wine info and quizzes designed to complement all that wine tasting you do! 

The idea for the online wine study guides came from needing a way to supplement wine tastings and trainings I conducted for so many enthusiastic restaurant servers and many other budding wine enthusiasts who always had way more questions about wine than time allowed for me to answer:

How is wine made?
Is wine fattening?
What does it mean when a wine is “tannic?”
How many bubbles are in a bottle of Champagne?
What does it mean when a wine is sweet or dry?
What does “oaky” mean?  What makes a wine “oaky?”
Is it necessary to swirl wine in the glass before you taste it?
 I’m not sure how to talk about wine when I’m tasting it.  What is all of this wine lingo?
How long should I age my wine?
Why does everyone smell the cork after opening a bottle of wine?
How much wine is in a bottle of wine?
How many glasses can I get out of a bottle of wine?
What does estate-bottled mean? 
How many grape varieties are there anyway?
Why would I drink a wine that smells like cat piss?

Why are some wines white, some red, some pink?

The result: Know More, Pour More The Enthusiast's Self-Study Guide to Wine #1 Understanding Wine for the Restaurant Professional, answers questions like these and offers much more.

From that a second guide was born:

Who is Know More, Pour More?

KMPM is produced by an experienced team of one -- me.

A love of kind service, delicious food and wine, and travel led the way for me to have the most gratifying career in the wholesale wine industry for over two decades.

Along the way I met up with a barrelful of interesting and wonderful people, visited the beautiful wine corners of the world, ate platefuls of mouth-watering food and didn’t spit much wine.

By day I direct sales for a handful of import portfolios at Galaxy Wine Company in Portland, Oregon. For more wine and food enjoyment I blog  @ Bottlerunner, and KMPM is my side project. 

How will I spend this money? 

Know More, Pour More: The Enthusiast's Self-Study Guide to Wine

                         #3 Oregon Willamette Valley AVAs

is an ode to my home state's rich, vast and wildly popular wine producing Willamette Valley and its AVAs (American Viticultural Areas). It is the third guide of the series, and I can't wait to get it out there.  

These guides have been a labor of love, and up to this point, all self-funded.

It's the wine-learning tool I wanted 30 years ago when wine grabbed me by the neck at my first restaurant job, and I found myself sneaking into wine tastings,  and spending my hard-earned tips on the few wine books and magazines available.

This third guide has been written, and maps have been designed. All of the funds raised on Kickstarter will go to editing and producing KMPM guide #3, Oregon Willamette Valley AVAs, as well as marketing -- getting these into the hands of servers and enthusiasts to further enhance a shared enjoyment of one of life's greatest pleasures.

My utmost gratitude to Chris Molé of Chris Molé Design for all of her patient help and guidance making Know More, Pour More look just wonderfully so!

The writing, research and maps are done for KMPM #3.
Editing is a slow process but I love the people I work with and we are good at getting things done.
After editing, there's production and formatting and then we're good to go!
