I guess at this point, I'm just unsure what makes this blanket so much better than other weighted blankets you can currently purchase to compensate for the risk that is Kickstarter... I'll probably back out.

@Paul Quick: Yeah. Gargantuan production runs can be very overwhelming and difficult when you're inexperienced. It's much easier to have a more modest sized run your first time out...

@BBW right, especially since he claims they've already got a few lucky friends with the blanket testing it out. That implies he already has some blankets. If he wants to address these questions about the inside, he needs to just take a picture of the insides without the cover and post it.

    12. Robin vor rund 20 Stunden

@Everybody If you believe this campaign is a fraud, please go to 'Campaign details', scroll down, click 'Report to Kickstarter' and fill in the form.

If the creator is not answering questions, can't proof he's the actual creator (not talking about inventing here, just proof that he's not reselling a blanket from alibaba), we need to step up against this as a community.

    13. BBW vor rund 20 Stunden

@SP - Sigh. I've asked before as well. I'm willing to overlook a lot of the more attenuated complaints ("Holy Knockoff, AliBatman!"). But this is a core question about the product itself. There should be no difficulty or delay in answering it. It would also go a long way toward addressing the "What makes this product new?" issue.
      .
This isn't a conspiracy theory; it's a basic "how does it work" query.

@creator believe me. I know it's in your backer update. The issue is your complete and utter lack of transparency with your consumers. Since you already have some produced, it shouldn't be difficult to provide pictures of the insides for people asking, right? The lack of stretch goals at this point and your decision to avoid making other colours/sizes seems like an excuse to explain away that you CANT make other sizes or colours because you are reselling an already made product. You have essentially told us the same things over and over, just slightly changing the wording each time and touting it as a sufficient answer. It seems to me that it's about time you either give us some real answers or admit you and this campaign are a fraud.

I backed this but after doing my due diligence I have to agree with Otaku Kani, this campaign is at best questionable and at worst a rip off. There are many, many other options out there that are very similar, if not identical to this , mostly at the same price and sometimes cheaper. So not new, innovative or unique in any way and in my opinion should probably not be on Kickstarter. So I'm cancelling my pledge unless the Creator can show how this is better or different than all the other variations out there, even sold on Amazon, which is a store, unlike Kickstarter.

Thanks @Creator. Apologies if I missed the answer to this in the thread, but what does the insert look like? How is it constructed and stitched? How does the design prevent the beads from pooling/bunching up inside the insert itself?

Hi @alexander @charleigh, hopefully I’ve responded to all the community questions both here in the comments section and the FAQ regarding delivery, team, fabric, etc.

Yes, the blankets are hypoallergenic. Original planned delivery was October, but we actually thing some may arrive sooner than this. Orders placed earliest will be delivered first. Yes, there are many kinds of microplush-- it’s difficult to describe the high quality of the one we are using it without feeling it in person, but rest assured that everyone who has tried it loves it. And you can read more about me and my team on the campaign page/faq/comments below.

@Jonathan thanks for the definitive proof. :slightly_smiling_face: Again, trying to answer all the questions, we might not have been as timely on all of them, but I think we have gotten to all of them by at this point. We do have a customer support team lined up to handle orders once we launch. We’ve been updating our campaign page and FAQ regularly as we go to reflect responses to questions. For stretch goals, have decided to push colors until post-campaign in order to focus on the core product. We also do want to get into larger sizes, just again want to make sure we can deliver on all promises we make, which is why we are currently in diligence on whether to launch now or post-campaign.

Any time someone raises an issue with his profile, FAQ, or the campaign, he doesn't address it and it is quietly removed or changed. A couple examples of this: various media started covering how it claims to treat illnesses, but that's not the case. Immediately, the language is changed/removed and he declined to comment. Myself and one other pointed out that his verified contact (which is supposed to be himself) was Alex Klokus, the CEO of futurism, a media outlet which has been ferociously covering this campaign since day one. His response to this is to say that Alex Klokus is part of his team, as he has partnered with futurism for this project, he asks you to look at his FAQ. His FAQ is updated to include this section less than an hour before he answers this question. Oh, and he changes the verified contact to "himself" but only after being called out. Backing $1 just to leave a comment

      allergy free?
delivery schedule vs. demand quantities? "Sept-Oct: All Kickstarter rewards delivered just in time for fall!" - looks more to be a late x-mas present ;-)
micro plush minky fabric - found over hunhdreds of types - no idea what it will be.
team - no real picture about the team - size, experience - sounds more like "I have a dream" instetead of a team...
but I also understand that loosing some backers before the bell rings looks not as an issue for the creator due to the high number of backers ;-) that's my personal impression

Like many others reading this comment section, I am retaining my pledge until the last day when I will make my final decision based on the creators responses to the myriad concerns posted.
This project is in very real danger of losing too high a proportion of backers at the final bell. The creators would be wise to start answering questions to keep the backers they have.

    25. SP Mugler
      Superbacker
      vor 1 Tag

@Jonathan - You've encapsulated my concerns succinctly. I really want this blanket, as it seems reasonably priced and more luxurious compared to the weighted blankets otherwise available on the market. However, even easily addressed questions like WHAT DOES THE INNER BLANKET LOOK LIKE are being overlooked. I'm probably going to hang on till the end of the campaign and decide then whether I want to pull out or not.

@creator - If you don't have the time to address all the questions and concerns that backers have expressed in the comment section, why not assign others on your team to help? As it's going, I have serious doubts that the quality of your customer service will acceptable after all the money is collected and you move onto fulfillment. With 18,000+ backers, there are bound to be service issues. How will you handle those issues then if you can't even answer all the questions in a comment section that a minority of backers use?

    26. Avatar fehlt

      Jonathan vor 1 Tag

@John Fiorentino, what SP Mugler showed was NOT "definitive proof that they're [sic] replicated our product". Even Mugler used the words "seems more likely".

Now, THIS is definitive proof: http://www.verexif.com/en/ver.php…

That URL there shows the Exif data for one of the images used in three Alibaba listings. It is dated on May 8th, showing that, at a minimum, those three Alibaba listings copied this campaign. This does not clear the other listings, which used different images that do not have Exif data available, but it *does* strongly implicate them as also being copycats.

While that should alleviate some major concerns for backers, I still have quite a few issues with this campaign:

      1. The selective answering of questions, with a strong leaning towards responding to positive comments rather than concerns for the campaign.

      2. The vague answers given to questions. For example, you posted a link to one of your prior products, but said product has someone else's name attached to it instead of yours, and you offer no explanation as to why.

      3. Related to 1. and 2., it shouldn't be up to the backers to alleviate concerns. *You* are the one making over 3 million dollars. Having others find information in defense of your campaign instead of doing it yourself gives a strong indication that when this campaign completes, there will be little to no customer support. Will people who got the wrong number of blankets, or incorrect weights, be as on their own as we are now?

      4. The way stretch goals were strongly implied, but are likely never going to be set. It's fine for a campaign to not have stretch goals, but it's *not* fine to strongly suggest they'll happen, and then have your only update be "it's hard".

      5. The way you updated the campaign and then claimed the information was there previously.

*Please* address some of these concerns instead of selectively answering the positive questions or vaguely dismissing / avoiding the negative ones. I am *not* bashing your campaign, nor am I a troll. I am raising legitimate concerns that I believe we deserve an answer to.

I don't think the product is being resold, but really there isn't a way to confirm that 100%. it would be cool if the creator had work ie ( sketches, different sizes tried, multiple blankets, or any other example) if it was presented or shown the journey pf how this came about I think it would close the door for many of the veterans on KS questioning this start up. sorry about your friend with the easy access back door romper.

@david, if a fashion designer created prototypes, picked styles, fabrics and colors and made arrangements for a production company and did not infringe on the patent or intellectual property of others, yes they can sell them on KS. If they found a few pallet loads of extra rompers or found a producer in China making the product and buys a few pallet loads and goes to sell them on a site where there is a contract you won't do that, yes they should be reported. Proving either one is the problem. Honestly, I don't have a problem with someone buying 1000 items directly from China and selling them for whatever price the market will allow, actually its a good move, I just don't want it on KS as that will over time dilute the reason KS exists.

Note To ALL... I have compiled lots of reasons and evidence as to why this campaign should be reported and suspended that unfortunately Kickstarter will not allow it all fit in this space.. Please click on my name above and read my profile where I posted additional info/evidence that this campaign is not honorable, and you may understand why this campaign should be suspended... Below is a sample..

"KICKSTARTER IS NOT A STORE, PEOPLE AREN'T BUYING THINGS THAT ALREADY EXIST - THEY'RE HELPING TO CREATE NEW THINGS." (Kickstarter Trust and Safety page)

      From Kickstarter Basics: Kickstarter 101
"Every project on Kickstarter must be creating something new to share with others."

Weighted Blankets are not a new thing or limited in availability as this creator would have you believe. They have been sold for some time to aid those with Autism, PTSD and other medically diagnosed afflictions... This creator trying to pass these off as a new idea kind of is a slap in the face to autistic and PTSD patients in my opinion...

Here are just some websites where you can purchase one: (note, I removed the "www" preceeding the below addresses in an attempt to stay out of trouble with Kickstarter for posting links, so you will need to add it in yourself. nor is this an endorsement for any particular website, just a sample of the ones that popped up first on my browser.)
friendshipcircle.org/blog/2012/02/13/weighted-blankets-13-stores-to-choose-from/ (also has links on how to make your own Weighted Blanket)
      sensacalm.com/

      mosaicweightedblankets.com/where-are-weighted-blankets-sold/
mosaicweightedblankets.com/adult-weighted-blanket-large-mens/ (espically interesting and not a new chinese knock-off of this "Creators New.. cough..bull-shi-cough..Product! Notice the size, materal, weight, etc...)
      rehabmart.com/product/weighted-blanket-fidgets-42183.html
      rehabmart.com/category/weighted_products.htm

and a link to find many more on your own:
      google.com/search?gs_ivs=1&q=medical+supply+store+weighted+blanket

Keep in mind that these companies are not "Chinese companies trying to rip off your design" as they have been LONG ESTABLISHED SELLERS of weighted blankets. So it's odd that in your campaign you would claim "society at large hasn’t had access to them. To that end, we are working to put it in a form that is accessible to everyone." Can you attempt to explain your "New Design" now??? The only thing that your product may have over THESE LONG ESTABLISHED COMPANIES that have been selling this product for some time, is you have the benefit of using Kickstarter as a store, thereby able to offer it at a lower price than these companies that have overhead cost to deal with.

Again, click on my name above and read my bio for further evidence and details as to why this campaign should be suspended.

Thank you and good luck.. You may need it!!

Couple quick questions for my understanding. Where exactly are the weighted beads, the exterior shell or the interior layer? If they are in the interior layer, can we see an image to that layer to show the quilting to prevent the beads from shifting about? If they are on the outer shell, are they on the top layer and each small quilted grid area contains individual beads and the inner layer is simply for warmth and can be removed in warmer climates? Just trying to figure out the design of this blanket and what separates it from similar products already readily available on Amazon and other places.

I've posted a lot of comments supporting this project as well, and I honestly hope it succeeds. I've backed over 65 projects on Kickstarter at significant levels (no five-dollar "keep me posted" pledges here either). I agree with Jonathan Edwards for the same reasons he just posted. In fact I had already cancelled my pledge for two blankets and came back and pledged one dollar just so I could come back and post about it. Too many red flags... too much of a runaway project... too many people asking questions that aren't answered... too much building the pledges and not enough attention to talking frankly about potential concerns about getting so big so fast... and finally, not enough assurance that I won't have to pay double by the time customs duty and shipping to Ireland are counted in. Too bad, I really wanted this.

@David Perez - It's common in the Kickstarter community for creators to showcase their teams, putting mini profiles (with pics) at the bottom of the campaign page. It's also common for creators to highlight past projects and to name any big names they're working with for their campaign, in order to lend more credibility to the quality of components and ability to fulfill demand. And it's fairly standard for creators to know exactly what their stretch goals are, what they entail, and how much money they need to "unlock" them before starting their campaigns. These markers indicate a well-planned project that would presumably lead to a smooth fulfillment process. (Of course, some projects seem perfect but end up disappointments, but backers still tend to look for signs that instill confidence.)

Perhaps the root of the problem here is that the creator didn't know that serial Kickstarter backers tend to have certain expectations, e.g. having all the questions in the comment section answered, being answered with specifics, and frequent updates on developments, etc.

Personally, I want this project to succeed. I want a high-quality weighted blanket. But it has been frustrating to follow the comment section, as the creator seems to have been overwhelmed by backer concerns and demands. The reality is, this is what Kickstarter can be like, for backers and creators.

    39. David Perez vor 2 Tagen

OK, everyone in the comments just whining about everything. the dude has given his work via links. maybe he work with other ppl and doesn't put his mark because he just co created it. don't believe it or if it's not good enough just back out. Already another comment showed he isn't copying any other design from the cache crap everyone Is going nuts about. the blanket has been already invented for years john is just basically redoing/reinventing it simple as that .. the creator said he isn't using Alibaba to get his blankets. he has advise who is doing his marketing a Facebook group pumping a good amount of videos to bring attention to the project. his team is working on it, what if the team doesnt want to disclose there names. what more transparency does the community want?
A video of people sewing the blanks? Present exactly how much the product cost? where he is ordering it? highly doubt any company discloses that information. stretch goals wont make it because it's going to be to heavy and takes the whole experience away from what it was originally design for. maybe he wants to try because of so much interest i personally think it will be a no, plus shipping won't be cheap so yeah he going to scratch that . colors maybe! different color material that needs to be bought it might cost more just for a different color instead of buying 1 color in bulk that gets more of a discount as orders keep piling up. so he's profiting what 30 60 80 bucks off you ok not happy about that go and buy one off a website that might be smaller plus around 180 +shipping. you feel up to the challenge YouTube has great DIY. this has become a Facebook comment section I think if it was possible we would also have a ton of memes I ain't gonna lie it would be funny but yeah.

The very selective answers to only certain backer questions and/or concerns is causing significant credibility concerns for me, so even if the product is actually delivered as described (?), this is no longer a campaign/creator I wish to support due to the handling of communication here.

I can't handle this comments section any longer! I agree with BBW. Any stress and anxiety this blanket may reduce will only be the amount caused by it's KS. I don't have the time or energy to do proper research about all the shenanigans happening, but IMO, when a company claims to be "transparent" and truly IS, the idea of doing research never comes into play. I haven't once backed a KS with so many questions, red flags and inconsistencies raised, especially ones that were outright ignored by the creator. So sad most people aren't even bothering to read all these comments and, quite frankly, are likely being taken for a ride. I've been following these comments for the past week since I pledged and all of it is enough to say I'm out. Hope backers get their item and this doesn't get revealed as a run around to get money for whoever the creator really is.

So, John has been creating products ALL HIS life, and all he has to show for it is an Ipad bag, an unreleased pillow, and a fragrance he can't talk about.

As I said before, I've backed many 1st time creators and it was usually a pleasure to help someone start a company or a career doing something they like. I even prefer to back someone who is starting than someone who is on their 3rd or 4th kickstarter campaign, because having to keep coming back to kickstarter shows that for some reason the company is not taking off.

@john nobody would think less of you, if you had said from the beginning this was the first product you created on your own. Now i suppose that option is gone... but to say you have so much experience and then showing us and Ipad bag, that frankly doesn't have your name anywhere on it, is very disapointing.
