Have a question?
@R Stalter - ok, the goggles are different, the pilot's head is very slightly a little bigger than the trooper but.. my OCD is not so bad, not everyone is the same size and the goggles, well, pilots tend to do their own thing... works for me! If you want to email me and remind me, i can send you some photos JEFFREY.LABELLE at asu.edu
OMG! I am so in on the next one too
Actually, I have a sniper team done. We were thinking of just adding it to the store shortly. It will be available for add on for the next KS project as well.
Flame throwers and crew served weapons are in the works.
Quick question gang, on next KS any chance for light BDU troops:
Heavy weapon crew
Hey RS hang tight, ordered one up
Another box of goodness arrived today jam packed with figures and extras, the detailing on the troopers in particular is superb, absolutely delighted again, thankyou.I too only collect modern/post apoc and sci fi so fantasy would be lost on me, if you want a rules fossil from the UK to have a look at anything happy to volunteer , filled a few nda's in my time lol, I'm off to stroke my models keep up the excellent all round good work.
Bobby Jackson sculpted this line and has also worked for Reaper Miniatures. I noticed this miniatures on Reapers website https://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/Chronoscope/sku-down/50290
based on the head of the pilot would it fit in with the BDUs? I know it's not a perfect match but if anyone owns both the BDU troops and one of those I was wondering how close they are. I'm hoping to add some heavy support to my fledgling BDU platoon.
Lots of theories as to when
best time ,but if everyone else thinks so too...
Beta testers for rules!!!
My pledge arrived yesterday. Nice, sharp miniatures with clean casts and very minimal mold line removal needed -- looking forward to the next one. I appreciate the on-time (actually very early) arrival of these which is so very atypical for Kickstarters.
We have two more miniatures projects more or less ready to go. Both sic-fi to give the troopers enemies. We have a house rules set that we're trying to get into a publishable form. I think it's quite different from anything else out there. We're currently leaning towards a smaller projects rather than a large one for November/December. Conventional wisdom would say Christmas is a good time but we are aware that our target market tends to be spending on spouses and family rather than themselves at this time.
As for the time line. I would also like to continue to back your kickstarters but this time of year is difficult. If you could wait until early 2017 it would be best. Unless the new kickstarter is small in scale
My prefrance is sci. I would be interested is what you have planned for fantasy. But I prefer modern near future and sci-fi. Rules would be nice but I'm comfortable with using these models in other games.
Got my package Friday, Which did not expect. Not to figure out what color seam.
Normally I would say bring it on...but a November KS means payup in Nov or even worse December and what with Xmas some of your customers might struggle to have spare money for you then, I know I'm likely to be in that boat and selfishly, I don't want to miss out :)
Is a November Kickstarter too soon? How often do you think we should do these? We have lots of ideas and could keep going. Most of the backers on this Kickstarter were repeat customers, which is great, but we also need to reach out to new supporters to grow. How would you feel about a detour into Fantasy for one Kickstarter then alternate back to Sci-Fi? Are you more apt to pledge if we have a game to support? Thoughts?
I'm so glad to hear the feedback and that you guys are happy as well. Fulfillment was our biggest worry jumping into Kickstarter. Making the figures is what we've been doing for decades so we were comfortable with that. However, Kickstarter doesn't have a users manual so we were not sure how it worked until we actually pushed the button. Still unsure on some of the process. I get the feeling we bypassed most of the Kickstarter mechanisms for customer relations. It's a little frightening how much of Kickstarter seems to be just wingin' it.
Agree with Steve 1000%
Hot mine and everything is perfect!
You got a loyal backer!!
Another unit of "the lads" enroute to join the earlier deployed platoon, sweet, perhaps you guys might consider running a gobshites course for several of the other companies KS I have bought into as your track record has been superb in going above and beyond for your customers, something they could learn from you I'm sure, keep up the good work folks
best UK regards
3 or 4 packages to go out tomorrow and we should have all pledges that we have received sent out. Oddly enough, we still have a few from the first Kickstarter we haven't had turned in. We're now hard at work on No. 3. I'll post an update when we have a preview ready.
Package arrived and it all looks great, thanks.
Crimson post some pics when you do! Sounds incredible!
i will admit i did bump my pledge to get the stretch goals added. it really made my $80 pledge worth it as i was only at first going to get the BDU troopers. I like how you guys added the extras in my opinion i would pledge again for that package. I plan on using these as a diorama so to have the extra aliens crawling around on it will definitely tie in an Alien theme so im looking forward to seeing how it will shake out. i just found some great vehicles to pair with the troops so now its really coming together
Kinda zombies, not really but creepier, Kickstarter 4... sounds interesting.
today was my day off and I spent a a few hours painting up the minis from the 1st kickstarter. I finished up my order for this Kickstarter earlier and I can't wait to get started on them too.
Our intention is to publish our game. It's mostly notes and charts right now. We have vast experience producing miniatures so are very comfortable with these projects but publishing a game would be a whole new venture for us. We've looked at some of the costs involved and it's pretty scary. Just having the dice made will be thousands of dollars. We're hoping to build up a following and a reputation so that when we do the game, we will have enough reach to succeed.
These miniatures are specifically intended for our game universe but I can see them used as proxies for other games. I use a lot of proxies when I'm playing games myself so I know how that goes.
The zombie was originally conceived as a one off for an October store promotion so he's not part of our game universe though there is something similar we have planned for the 4th project (yes we have the 4th kickstarted already planned:) that is much creepier than zombies.
We're currently considering how to set up the stretch goals for project #3 so any input is appreciated.
I love the Zombie RBJ , it was an offshoot promo figure but you really had something going there would love to see more zombies. The lightly armored Troops seemed to get a lot of attention which was great. I see a lot of potential amongst the range I am on the other hand wondering how it will all flow together. I plan on making a diorama with the aliens and some Star troops from the 1st KS.
I ask you guys what the purpose of models will be used as? Proxy models for other games or incorporated into their own gaming universe?
Either way I love the quality of the models you have produced they are top notch and your customer service is amazing. Fast delivery and completion of your KSs is Awesome and wish you folks continued success.
what your doing is fine. when I pledged for this kickstarter I wanted the troop packs. the little odd add ons didn't really excite me. what got me the most excited are the officer, the robots and the troops, stuff that can be used for wargaming. what would excite me for future stretch goals would be additional troops as opposed to the little one off that more than likely won't get painted. for example a hoard of zombies is something I would pledge for 12 for $50.00. (4 poses) then if we hit a certian level instead of 12 we get 13 then 14. things like that would be very much appreciated. thats just my opinion.
Looking for our backers opinions. Should stretch goals simply be a premium you get at certain funding levels? Should stretch goals be something we actually don't make unless those funding levels are reached? Is what we did this time with stretch goals being all available at a certain pledge levels a good option? Any thoughts on Stretch Goals for future projects?
Kickstarter has not yet released the funds but we can see that all backers have cleared. So, we're moving forward anticipating this will resolve soon.
The coupon codes should all be out. We have begun production on the last pieces and we expect to start sending out pledge rewards Wednesday or Thursday.
I just finished the last molds for this Kickstarter. So, everything is ready for production. Coupon codes should go out tomorrow with instructions for how to redeem your pledge rewards. We could wrap this up in a week or so.
I have the first castings of the Light BDU troopers now. Those are the last of the prints I needed to get into metal for this project. I have two production molds to do and we're ready to go. Likely before the end of the week.
In addition, we now have 100% backers cleared. I'm actually amazed with that. Not just saying it. I'm truly astonished with this projects supporters. We must attract a better class of backer.
Quick Status Report:
We have all but 1 credit card cleared as of now. I've spoken to some other KS creators who claim they have from 10% to 15% declined at the end. We have less than one fifth of one percent declined which is unbelievably amazing. And, we could still get 100% cleared before the grace period is up which would be totally unheard of.
We will soon begin adding items and pledge levels to the store but they will be placed on "out of stock" until we start sending out the codes for fulfillment. When everything is cleared, we'll be sending instructions via e-mail on how to retrieve your pledge rewards.
You guys rock!
We've added the Zombie trooper to the store for $5.00. Free for $100.00 purchase. We should be getting things out in a couple weeks. If you wait until then and add to your pledge or if your pledge is already $100.00 +, you'll get a zombie trooper as well. If you can't wait, you can go there now and get one. http://store.rbjgc.com.
Congrats ladies and Gents on another well done Kickstarter
We're actually 95% done with this. We need to wait on the "paperwork" with Kickstarter but we'll begin sending out the info like last time pretty quick. I expect we will be done before the end of October. Making the product is easy. The hardest thing for us is the bureaucracy of the system. I'll post an update as soon as we get organized a bit.
Congrats gang awesome stuff coming our way!! Any ETA deviation (like freaking early like last time - man you guys put other KS to shame) or still on track for Dec?
Gotcha. makes sense... The zombie ant, its a fungus or something that affects the brain, makes it thirsty, brings it to water... where the fungus can grow... hmmm
I was going to say the biology of the Infestors is based on ants and I didn't think zombie Infestors would work. Then I found this. https://www.youtube.com/watch…
3 poses would be the minimum. but doable to make a hoard 4 would be better. in days gone by metal miniature lines which offered metal zombies usually had a limited number of poses but it worked. Copplestone casting and Westwinds Road Kill lines only had four poses for there zombie packs and they looked good in hoards of 20 figures
Not sure how i left out based on 3
Even if only ...based on 3 models... sort of like...
A hoard would be cool. Even if only models. Sort of like the robots. So maybe come in pack of 3's and a deal at four pack? Nice Halloween ks? Hint hint.
Any chance for a zombie infestor?
Typo: "curse" should be "cute".
Apparently you can't edit comments:(
The intention of the zombie trooper was to use it as a promotional item in October. It never occurred to us to make a zombie hoard. Current thought is to make 2 or 3 more so you can mix them up a bit with the sprues and make a hoard if you without us investing in an actual squad of 10 figures.
I hadn't viewed the infestor as "curse". It's an interesting notion to consider. I think you get that impression because the head is large by comparison giving it a "chibi" affect. That one will be about 28mm tall. My impression of the metal castings is a bit different from an image of the mesh. It's part of the art of sculpting for miniature rather than just making scale models. The smaller the figure, the larger distortion in head and hand elements needed for the figures to look right making it look a bit off in large pictures.
normally I would vote against the zombie idea but that mini form the previous update looks great. It's just a person needs so many Zombies. the unspoken rule is you need a hoard. What I'd really like to see are perhaps some non combatants or even human rebels/op-for. I want to like the insectoids the big one is well done and the leaper biter crawler from this kickstarter looks great. but the cute one from the last update looks like it just wants to be hugged, not really menacing. the troops you've done so far are awesome and I'm really looking forward to the new human troop types in this kickstarter. any chance of just a head sprue of the light BDU with there helmets on?
Alien zombies that is.. .they can be the heavies
If this is the prelude to KS3 count me in! Shambling mounds of armored (heavy) and light, but also alien!
@ Jeff- Zombies!!! Way too cool I need undead squads to mob and overwhelm these lightly armed troops with my Star Troopers in full protection to back them up. Almost like hazmat troops protected against the undead infection unfolding before them...I'm seeing a beautiful diorama just waiting to be built
If you pledge $80.00, you will be allowed to switch the robots for the Light BDUs if you want. We're not concerned which squad you pick. Or, you could go for $130.00 get both:)
I received the prints for the light BDU troopers today. I'll take some photos and post an update in the morning.
