Update - We are so excited to announce the launch of our Melamine (Plastic) Product Range!!!!!
This is perfect for families with toddlers and allows all kids of all ages to enjoy our product range. Please see our new rewards reflecting the new Melamine range.
Using our vast experience of over 10 years in product innovation & manufacturing, we are excited to be launching our new company, Ceramictopia.
The Kickstarter Platform has given us an opportunity to deliver our vision for Ceramictopia and bring to life our product designs. It has allowed us to be expressive and innovative and think as far outside the box as possible, whilst trying to bring fun and imagination back into meal times.
The Ceramictopia Concept
We recognised how much technology was having an effect on the dynamic of meal times for children and families. But we wondered whether, if you stripped everything away, we could find a way to boost imagination, playfulness and engagement on the only things you really need: plates, and mugs.
Well luckily we found a solution and we came up with Ceramictopia. Its a really simple idea. It’s not about tech. It’s about the basics. Plates and mugs with imaginative designs that immerse the diner in a scene.
Each design has its own distinctive personality, inspired by memory, a dream, or a human experience that has been brought to life. We want the mug and plate to make a statement as individual products, but when placed together, form an even bigger story. The designs are playful, quirky and most importantly, original. It’s time to remove the boring standard dinnerware and introduce Ceramictopia, where your imagination can run wild.
Our vision is to collaborate with fantastic artists from all over the world, to showcase their work and produce unique ceramic, glass, paper and now melamine sets. Here you will find our first product ranges, and we are already working hard to further expand these designs.
Each individual product is handled with love, carefully crafted, screen printed, painted and beautifully packaged by the fine folk of Stoke and Sheffield, using only the finest English bone china. This product is intended for everybody, and we really hope you love our products as much as we do.
Right now we at an early stage. We have manufacturing set up, innovative eco packaging created and have a wide range of designs signed off. These designs include penguins, bears, elephants and even sports and landmarks, and so on.
We want to get this product manufactured and out to the people that want them, without middle men, retailers etc. We just want to make them for you. If we are successful with this campaign, we will be able to lay down the required tooling and artwork to get the first products made, and officially launch the company. However, we need your help in order to do this and take Ceramictopia from a dream to reality.
Currently with the amount we are looking to raise, we will be able to produce between 4 designs out of the current range of 16. We wanted to keep the amount small and be able to bring to market the most popular designs, with the goal to launch the rest of the collection and many more in the coming months. As you will see in the stretch goals below, for every £1,500 we raise above our target, we will introduce a new design into the mix.
Just imagine the possibilities of what we can create by working with these amazing artists, (already working with ones in North America, Europe, Asia and UK), creating a huge range of inspiring and original designs, perfectly suited for a plethora of occasions.
This really is just the start though. We are very excited about where this could go as a business, and with your support we can make it happen. To everyone who has taken the time to read over our campaign, Thank You, it really means a lot to us. Plus, if you can, please share our campaign, tell people or even back us and together we can bring back imagination and revolutionise mealtimes for good!

Nobody has enough tea/coffee mugs in their life!!!
Funny enough, the original idea stemmed from my brother goofing around with paint, plates and a mug in an arts and crafts café, after having a bottle of wine. The lady who owned the café had never seen the concept before even though she had been doing this for over 9 years. It was intended as a fun joke to show to friends, but no, a light bulb went off in my head and ‘Bing!’ Ceramictopia was born.
Im very passionate about product manufacturing, after spending most of my working life in this sector, after leaving university. This is why the idea really excited me and I just had to go for it. After spending huge amounts of time researching the industry, I brought my partner in who has a very creative flair and who I knew would see this as the perfect opportunity to utilise her skills.
For our first range, we found an extremely talented young artist. I had many ideas but the whole concept being based around making meal times fun, I really wanted to bring to life an animal range, not only because the original concept was the Giraffe, but because… well….who doesn’t love animals.
Throughout my whole childhood, my favourite thing was to go to the zoo. We went to zoos whenever we went on holiday. It was a special treat, but one thing I always wanted to do every time. We have been to some incredible zoos and from the moment I walked in to the moment I left, a smile never left my face……or an ice cream for that matter!
Our first range is very much geared towards families with a focus on encouraging more interaction between children and adults, bringing out kids wild imaginations, and helping to get kids to eat all their food by making it much more a fun event.
Going forward, we want to expand out, beyond families, creating cool, quirky styles aimed at adults, adding a new dimension to special occasions and dinner parties.
We really hope you like our initial product range as much as we do, and please get in touch if you have any ideas that could be used. We always listen and love to hear your thoughts.
All our products can be shipping anywhere in the world in our beautifully designed and environmentally friendly box.

Risks and challenges
Like every project, there are always risks and challenges that come with delivering the finished product. We have however, been working on this project for several months with a top UK manufacturer and top UK screen printers who has worked with Disney, Liberty’s and the NBA, so they know how to deliver to the highest quality and meet the most demanding of needs.
Firstly, even though we have tested the concept via digital print and mock ups to make sure the plate and mug connection works, we haven’t done this with screen printing, which can be different and provide more complexity to it. It also adds pressure because for each part of each design, we need to create the screen print tool, and that can be scary because if it’s not right, we have to do it again, adding time and cost to the project. However, as mentioned above, we have tried to do as much preparation as possible to eliminate any problems here but it is worth mentioning.
Secondly, depending on what total we obtain here, we may have to be selective with the designs we can initially launch with. If we hit our target, we can deliver between 4 and 6 of the 16 designs, but that does potentially mean that some backers favourites may have to be put on hold until after the campaign has finished and the first set of products shipped. We have added in stretch goal targets which will allow us to commission all 16 designs but only if we reach the required amount. If not, don’t worry, we will not be scrapping them, we will be looking to launch them after this campaign has been fully finalised and will make sure you have priority when we do.
Lastly, we have been working on a clever packaging design for these products, to try to make it as cool and quirky as possible, whilst having a strong focus on the environment. This means we are using very little packaging and only packaging that is fully recyclable, but this adds complexity due to the fragile nature of the products and with us aiming to ship globally. Like above with the manufacturing/printing risks, we have carried out a large amount of pre work here to make sure we eliminate any potential problems before they arise but again, it is worth mentioning that problems could arise leading to further delays.
With my background being in product manufacturing, working for a company who sold into over 110 countries, I have a lot of expertise in this field, knowing how to take the concept all the way through to delivering a finished product. Nevertheless, when engaging in a project, it is impossible to plan for everything. We therefore want to promise you that we will do everything we can to deliver above and beyond your expectations. We want to turn our dream into a reality and we hope you love our products and the concept as much as we do….so don’t worry, we are extremely committed to overcoming any challenges that come our way.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
