This is the relaunch of unPresidented by Alternative Facts Inc., a company dedicated to Making Board Games Great Again.
unPresidented is an interactive, competitive game with the occasional cooperative element, designed for politics nerds, board gamers, and people with good taste. It's easy to learn, strategically rewarding, and highly entertaining.
It's time to Make Board Games Great Again.
It's been a heated election, but the President won. Bigly. Now what?!
You play as one of four counselors who joined the President’s campaign to work for your cause. Now that you’re in office, it’s time to pass policies to achieve your own goal. Unfortunately, everyone else has the same bright idea...
To win the game, you need to influence the President to pass your policies rather than the policies of other players. But be careful – if the President’s approval rating sinks too low, all players lose.
Age Range: 15+Time to Play: 45 minutes
The game takes place over four "years". Players work to gain influence, passing omnibus bills to enact policies and win the game. Players can also talk to the media, do opposition research, leak to the press, and cut backroom deals. At the end of the year, players fly south and lobby for cash.
Event cards set the stage for each new year by modifying the available actions.
The game board, player cards, decks, tokens, a die, and instructions.
We’re currently shipping to the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the EU (including the UK). Here’s what shipping costs.
We'll let you bundle items to pay a flat shipping fee by refunding any excess shipping after the campaign (details will be collected through the backer survey).
Maria Stoian is a freelance illustrator currently living in Scotland. She likes to screenprint and work digitally. She recently illustrated Nasty Women, which was also backed on Kickstarter. Reach out at @mariadraws.
Chris Turner is an art director-ish/designer-y kinda guy that lives in Calgary, Alberta. He used to enjoy wearing mismatched socks, but these days he's really into unreliable cars, playing many musical instruments rather poorly, and making nifty branding and animation stuff. He's always on the lookout for some cool cats to work with on an interesting project, so check out his portfolio-thing at www.turnercommachris.com.
Risks and challenges
We’ve done a lot to minimize risks by working with game manufacturers, distributers and illustrators ahead of time. The game has been fully designed and extensively playtested, with substantial feedback that’s changed the shape of the game. We have realistic production quotes and fulfillment targets, which we worked hard to achieve by being proactive and reaching out to partner companies well ahead of time. We’ve even made a plan for distribution at different levels of production, which is traditionally the most unplanned aspect of Kickstarting a board game (and causes a lot of headaches for backers).
In short, we’ve run a business before. We’ve seen what works and what doesn’t, and we’ve tried to have everything ready to go so that we minimize risk. Regardless, there will always be unanticipated issues, for which we’ve tried to build buffer space into our timeline. If we are substantially over-ordered, we will probably need some additional time. However, our plan is to, at the latest, get games to you by Christmas.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
