On My Own is a 2D, randomly generated woodland survival adventure--a unique gaming experience that transports you to a simpler time and place. Stay alive by hunting, foraging, and crafting traps. Ponder game tips and Transcendentalist quotes while you sleep at the end of each day. Get lost, and discover your self-reliance in the process.
We need your help to raise money to cover fees, licenses, and other costs we just don’t have the money for. Most of the money will go towards buying Unity Pro, which has the features we need to give the player a better and smoother experience.
You will receive rewards like any and all future On My Own content upon release, a cool travel mug and survival booklet, and a 3D-printed On My Own figurine.
We will release the first expansion of On My Own by June 2015, potentially sooner if we have the resources.

What is On My Own?
On My Own is a exploration adventure game. You play as a self-reliant backpacker who must survive in a temperate forest environment, complete with trees, berry bushes, and wildlife. On My Own currently features rabbits, foxes, and butterflies, and we have plans to add raccoons, fish, deer, birds, squirrels, and even crawfish.
The gameplay consists of the actions the player must take in order to survive: chopping down trees, chasing animals, picking berries, setting traps. Your character has limited energy, and each activity will affect his levels of fatigue and hunger. You must prioritize those tasks which help him survive and feel refreshed when he wakes up in the morning, such as building a fire, sewing a blanket, eating well, etc.
To aid his survival efforts, your character can gather elements to craft new items: sticks and stones become traps; a fox pelt and thread become a foxskin hat; sticks and rope become snowshoes... The interactive world allows the character to explore and solve his problems with clever survivalist creations.
The Next Expansion
The current Preview demonstrates the interactive possibilities of the world, and now we want to fill it with even more animals, craftable items, and gameplay actions.
We will make the next expansion available in the form of an “In-App Purchase” for both iOS and Android. If you contribute to our Kickstarter at or above $5, you will receive this and future in-app purchases for free!
New World Environments
In addition to the Woodland Biome featured in the Preview, we will add a Mountain Biome which will feature new elements like ponds and ridges, as well as all new flora and fauna (plants and animals).
We will create for both biomes a Winter and Summer version. That means there will be four unique environments for you to play in.
The Winter versions will force you to change how you survive. You will need to track animals, ice fish, and move around your environment in an energy efficient way.
New Crafting Abilities
New environments and new animals means you’ll need the tools to craft new equipment and survive in a new way. We will be adding things like rope, fishing poles, slingshots, bows and arrows, snares, feathers, crawfish traps, clothing, and snowshoes.
Crawdads and Squirrels and Deer, Oh my!
New animals: raccoons, fish, deer, birds, squirrels, and crawfish.
New gameplay: fishing, water trapping, tracking animals, firing bows and slingshots, and moving from camp to camp.
-Randomly Generated World
Players will never play in the same environment twice.
-Explore & Survive
Player must hunt, trap, and gather food and supplies.
-Work Smarter, Not Harder
Crafting allows player to combine items to produce tools that aid survival.
Players must focus on the tasks that leave their character feeling well rested and well fed.
-A Beautiful World
On My Own features a charming and colorful world, with delightful nature animations and soothing music.
The $2,500 will cover licenses and fees for On My Own, with most of the money going towards the purchase of Unity Pro, which will give us the tools we need to deliver a better experience with advanced features.
Hitting these will help us add the following features sooner than expected!
$3,500 Storyline & Journal Entry
We will employ a writer to create a narrative for the adventure, and we will design the UI/UX of a Journal that will allow you to record and review entries of all the different flora and fauna you encounter.
$5,500 Camp-to-Camp Gameplay
We will add a feature that will modify how you travel from camp to camp--the traveling will become part of the gameplay. You’ll need to pack your bag and prepare for the journey accordingly, as well as monitor fatigue levels, ration food items, and survive the weather conditions along the way.
$7,000 Injury, Sickness, Predators, & Weather
We are extremely excited for this feature, and we would be thrilled to add these elements to the game! The addition of injury and sickness would take On My Own's survival challenges to a whole new level.
We would introduce splints, bandages, medicinal plants, medicine, weather, sickness, and the ability to become wet and cold.
Risks and challenges
Because we created a Preview level, risks and challenges are extremely limited. We've already overcome the majority of technical and design hurdles.
We are confident we will be able to complete the expansion of "On My Own" as described above. We love making games, and we're particularly devoted to this game.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
