By exploring the connection between humanity and the environment we live in, we may better understand as a culture the impact we have on it as well as ourselves. As technology advances and we become more detached from our natural world, we lose sight of the events around us. My senior art show brings awareness of our world back to our eyes and aims to highlight the beauty and plight of our condition.
Each sculpture represents communities of the Earth that have been affected by humanity's existence and is carefully sculpted with people's found metallic waste. The machines we build replace each of the creature's natural niches, but unlike the organic beings, who procreate and recycle themselves, machinery is a one way process that requires nonrenewable resources to build, run, and dispose of properly.
I aim to finance the show, the accompanying illustrated children's book, reception, and the relocation of these sculptures, and I am willing to send you guys some cool items in return for the favor! It is best if I can get you to come to the show, so each backer who can come during the exhibition (installed April 30th-May 13th) gets their items first and has the shipping waved. Come on opening night, Monday, April 30th, from 5pm-7pm and get free food out of it too!
Any excess funds will be put towards my eventual goal of walking across America upon graduation.
