This project is a good lesson for setting expectations. The promotional materials never mention the technology behind the product, their manufacturing process, etc...
Uh ... What can I say?
All that to get here?
On one hand, I'm glad you we proclaim before it will run really bad, but on the other you can imagine that you give up nearly 1,600 people who follow you there, anyway?
Much of which will look at your future projects (If there are others!) With great suspicion?
Thank you for being forthcoming with the reason for canceling, and hope to see the campaign relaunched if/when you have things sorted out - clearly there's a demand for such a product.
But I don't get why the all the moaning from backers? Would you rather have the creator run the campaign to end and run with the money? That's much worse than canceling and getting our money back, as KS will not refund your pledge! I'm talking from experience.
I'm sorry to say that this is a poor effort. You had an obligation to 1564 backers, but that counts for nothing when you have a "better offer". That's not how an ethical business should operate. I'll be sure to avoid your projects in the future.
Augh, this is really frustrating (although I understand). Backed your first Kickstarter which didn't get funding and was delighted as this one smashed its goal only for this. Ah well
:( wish I can find a DIY project somewhere or Arduino code on google to have my own MixStik then...that's really too bad, but then I understand it's your decision. Bonne chance pour la suite les amis, j'espère qu'il n'y a rien de grave. Je suis certain que la décision a bien été pensée et non prise à la va vite ! ++
Seriously? Why did you even start this? In your previous project you said that you sold your company to work full-time on the project.
You did that much advertising and then ...
Well, thanks for being honest and not cheating us out of our money :)
Hey Timo,
i'm sure they will answer just give them some time for example their Twitter Account is still active.
But it seems their Facebook site ist gone.
Hey guys quick question! Is this strictly used for alcoholic drinks, or could this be used for non-alcoholic drinks too? I would love to use this for both.

I really feel the same as Mike. This product is addressing cocktail "starters" and they (as I) often don't have a cabinet full of ingredients for them. A filter such as the "in my fridge" filter shouldn't be too hart to program for app developers. At this point I personally think that we are not going to get to the 100000 stretch goal (sorry :/). As this concerns my personal money you will be using, I'd love to have some more insight.
You said that you can not provide any detailed financial information. What about a pie chart? That would be nice :)
Can't wait to get your Halloween update.
+1 on the filter for available ingredients. That was the killer feature for me to support this project. Please make this feature happen! :) I was a bit surprised to see this was announced as a stretch goal on October 9 when you had said previously on September 30 in these comments that "yes in the final app we plan to add a feature to filter drinks you can make with the ingredients you have at home.".
Hello @Timo, thanks for being a backer! We’ve tried a lot of different ways to get coverage and more backers, events and partys not being the most effective so far. Concerning features, we’ll do our best to integrate the most useful ones in the final release app. As for the budget questions, this is a strategic topic reserved to our team, partners and mentors that we cannot disclose in public comments. Hope you'll understand. Cheers!
As it looks like right now we might not get to the 100000$ streach-goal. Of course you don't want to kill our ambitions. Still it would be very interesting to know if you are enabling the filter for ingredients you have at home.
Have you thought about sponsoring some partys at Paris where you could possibly find even more backers?
I see you didn't quite reach the stretch goal for "In My Fridge", but I hope you'll still consider adding that feature in. It would make this far more useful and easier to use.
@Juanita, it depends on what kind of glass or shaker you use MixStik with. In a shaker tumbler 2 dots will be something like 40ml (1.35 oz) in a narrow collins glass it'll be less than half that.
@Markus, thanks for the idea! We'll test the most effective ways for the stick and app to be accessible to color-blind users. @Bjorn I replied to your pm, windows app is not on the road map for now, but if we have a lot of request from backers we might develop it in the future. Cheers!
@Juanita, interesting idea :) We haven't tested it with blender recipes at the moment. For frozen recipes one way to do it would be : preparing ingredients in a glass or shaker first, then transfer the mix into the blender and add ice.
Hello @Jeremiah thank you for backing! We will support Android smartphones (compatible with bluetooth low energy). As for smart watches only apple watch is in development right now. Android Wear (and Pebble) are not in schedule at the moment but we would love to support them also in the near future.
Please support Android and Android Wear. Both round and rectangle watch faces. I have a G Watch R. I can be a tester if you would like. Thank you for coming up with this product.
Hi @Harry thanks so much for supporting MixStik! Awesome feedback for colorblind people. Yes you will be able to customise your recipes and save them. You will also be able to create new ones and share them on the app. We show common garnishes and we give instruction like muddle, shake or stir etc.
Also, might be worth considering taking a look at how to accommodate color-blind people.
Shouldn't be much more than avoiding problematic colors to be adjacent on the app/stick. In fact, as the ingredients come in a sequence you wouldn't necessarily even need colors, as you could show how much to add just by increasing the height of the bar whenever a new ingredient is chosen on the app. So depending on exactly how the stick is used it might not be even necessary to make any special accommodation for color-blind people!

I was so sorry to hear about the cancellation!!
But, I'm SO glad the creators were honest and upfront enough to face facts and realize that they wouldn't have been able to pull this off right now.
I will be happy to back you guys when/if MixStik relaunches. Good luck with your future endeavors and I hope to see you on KS again!!
