Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director’s Cut (our bigger, better and STAND ALONE release of Dragonfall) is now available!

For all of you existing Dragonfall DLC owners and Shadowrun Returns Backers, the Director’s Cut should now automagically* be present in your Steam, GoG or Humble library. You’ve been great supporters to our small studio and you’ve already bought the game once - we didn’t think you should have to buy it a second time. So here’s the latest and greatest version of the game for free. You guys rock!

Only one small request in return: If you like the game, please tell all your RPG-playing friends about it! And share the trailerThis is our biggest Shadowrun game yet, and we think that makes it the definitive Shadowrun RPG experience on PCs. It’s the perfect opportunity for existing fans and newcomers alike to get in on the action. The Director’s Cut (Windows/Mac/Linux) is available on Steam, GoG, and Humble for $14.99.

Lastly, since I have a public platform for it right now: A HUGE, huge thank you to the rest of the Shadowrun dev team here, both past and present. I know each one of you has put a ton of passion, time, and talent into this game and it’s really paid off. I’ve never been more proud of our work, and of our contribution to the world of Shadowrun. And... we’ve said it before but I’ll say it again: Thank YOU, backers and fans, for your continued and constructive feedback, for always helping us get the word out, and for making the last two years of Shadowrun development possible. It's been an amazing experience and a wild ride.

From everyone here at Harebrained Schemes, we hope you enjoy Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director’s Cut!

-- Mike “The Director” McCain

*Steam: The Director’s Cut will automatically appear if you’ve redeemed your Steam Key for the DLC version of Dragonfall (since this is the only way that Steam knows you own the game). If you haven’t redeemed your key yet, don’t worry - when you do redeem it, the Director’s Cut should also appear. Your copy of the DLC version of Dragonfall will not be removed, it will continue to be downloadable and playable. If you are a Backer and still need your key, please email us at info@hbs-studios.com.

*GoG: If you’ve previously purchased Dragonfall DLC, you will receive a key for the Director’s Cut available in your GoG account. Your copy of the DLC version of Dragonfall will not be removed, it will continue to be downloadable and playable.

*Humble: If you received a Steam Key via Humble, see the above Steam directions. If you purchased the DRM-Free version of Dragonfall DLC from Humble, the Director’s Cut will be automatically added to your existing download page in Humble.

human decker/shotty was very nice, more satisfying than going the rigger route. i dunno, i'm just not one for running a woogie i guess. i was tempted to tell blutz to go hang himself, but couldn't do it. i wanted to go through settling debts with a competent decker too much. that was well worth it.

dwarf face/slapdash turned out to be harder than it could've been, because i didn't bring blutz on the return to harfeld manor and have gotten used to doing the matrix work in the final room. and then eiger missed with most of her grenades against audran, leaving me in the open facing a vindicator-wielding curmudgeon. ergh.

my current runner is erik bloodaxe, orc shaman/machette soon to be axe, as soon as its available. i'm really trying to push combat forward this time, using erik and glory to flush targets and letting eiger hang back and cut 'em down. i think i'm also going to free apex this time, i've heard there's some interesting new options there.

just finished my first run through the director's cut. elf samurai, rifle and vindicator minigun. 434 kills. i had to agree with vauclair, just to see what would happen, then finished out the usual way so i could volt-grenade and bullet-hose audran (flanked + 6 AP = one turn kill!)

i cannot express how much fun and awesome the director's cut is. holy frak. i'm going to take a couple of days off to finish some work for my D&D campaign, then run it all again.

Been playing it almost nonstop since it was released and I'm still not done- just got to the final mission. The DC is incredible. This could very well qualify as my favorite video game of all time. Just sheer awesomeness without the filler content in other RPGs. When it's released on Android I will gladly buy it just to support HBS.

I hope to see more Shadowrun games from HBS. If you do a game with the DFDC engine in another city I will pre-order or back it on KS if you decide to go that route again. Bring it on chummers, I need my BTL fix :)

Fantastic news. Thanks to the Harebrained team for your dedication to this title. I hope to see many more quality releases in this vein from you guys in the future. The franchise has never been better cared for or placed in more competent hands. Thank you.

Based on how other campaigns have gone, was expecting to be shrugged off, but this is the best and correct response, awesome. Thanks guys :)

Thank you for great Shadowrun games. I´m still ready to give you my money for new projects so I hope I will have chance to do it in near future.

Congrats on finishing DF and the base game with flying colors! it has been great to see a series I got into as a 9 year old (loved both snes/genesis games, read the 2E manual religiously before I ever even met other p&p players!) finally make its return in triumphant form!

Enjoy basking in the pride of a job well done... maybe a vacation in Hong Kong for the team... ;)

When I initially found out that you guys were making a director's cut, I was disapointed. I was happy that the game was getting more polish, but I didn't want to have to pay for it again. Lo and behold, a free update! Thank you so much for your dedication to this game! It's amazing, and you all should be very proud of it! Quite a masterpiece. I only hope that the moders continue to make good things happen with it. Perhaps we'll see more official campaigns? Hint. Nudge. Wink

To Mike, Jordan, and everyone else at Harebrained Schemes, thank you for what you have done. You delivered a generally solid tactical RPG last year and have continued to work to improve it since. Shadowrun Returns may not have been everything everyone expected in an RPG, but it was the first project that proved that big budget Kickstarters could be successful. I think that I speak for the vast majority in that we would gladly support you if you decided to do an expansion as a DLC, a sequel, or Kickstart another video game based on one of Jordan’s games. Best of luck in your future endeavors!

Releasing an improved version of an already excellent game for free, this is how I wish all developers treated us fans.

      YAY HBS!

excellent... now, do i run this in the same order as i did dragonfall, or jump straight to the troll samurai/vindicator? >:D

    23. Daniel on September 18, 2014

You guys are just awesome by doing it this way. There are certainly some other companies I've backed that could learn from you regarding customer relations in this regard.

      Thanks again :)

    24. Dave, Shadowrunner on September 18, 2014

@John Falcon: I don't think it will in-ap purchase... But HBS is hoping to release iOS and Android versions of the Director's Cut sometime in October.

Ok..here is what I did, as a $125 backer of the phyisical game, I never played it, why? Because I bought your IOS version and have been playing it on there...since I never bothered playing the game on my pc, I just would like to know if it will be an IAP to the IOS version sometime down the road...thanks

Just to add that I also see nothing new on Humble. Glad to see I'm not alone. If possible could someone extract an ETA from Humble and post it save a few site refreshes

This, Wasteland 2 and Divinity patch in one week! Best week ever!

My friends have already asked me if I get a cut of every sale of SRR, so I think they're aware I love it. ;).

Thanks a lot, guys - I'd like to confirm that I got my code in my GOG.com account. A quick note for GOG users - you can find the redeem code in your Shadowrun Returns entry, just below the installation file links. After that, just copy the provided link into your browser and you will get a separate entry for the Director's Cut DLC. I appreciate a lot the great work you've done, and you can count on my support for your next projects. I think this is an exemplary Kickstarter project, as this game would hardly be ever made if you had to rely on a publisher.
