62 likes

HBS is happy to announce that as of today, Shadowrun Returns is now available for Windows and Mac on GOG.com!

And please let all your friends know they can purchase the game at the special release price of $11.99 through tomorrow, 12/11/2013. Here’s the link: http://www.gog.com/game/shadowrun_returns

The DRM-free version of the game will continue to be fully supported and you'll be able to download all game patches, use the Shadowrun Returns editor and experience user-generated content downloaded from third-party sites such as Nexus. If you are a Kickstarter Backer or pre-ordered the game, we are happy to send you a GOG key if you contact us at info@hbs-studios.com.

We are also pleased to let our Linux-loving fans know that they’ll soon be able to access the game through the Humble Store. We’ll let you know about it as soon as possible.

Shadowrun: Dragonfall, the expansion for Shadowrun Returns, will also be available on GOG and the Humble Store when it’s released in January.

      Will the expansions also be available to the DRM-free versions? I only read "be able to download all patches and user-generated content" above, I assume this also includes installing and making use of in SRR?

      Does this also include any future expansion or extension, once legally obtained (assuming again those won't introduce DRM to the game themselves then)?
      And I understand people can now buy the original DRM-free KickStarter offer at a competitive prize from you now as well? (That would be so great if yes)

      Yeah I got a GoG key very quickly. The team here is great. :-) Thanks heaps!

      @HBS, thanks. It's just as well, I'm rather busy right now, so I wouldn't be playing it. I'm glad that the whole DRM silliness eventually got sorted out. It's just a shame that it wasn't handled better early on.

      Definitely looking forward to the expacs.

      @Emeraude
      You are right. It was confirmed to me that my suggestion was not the best solution for them to handle the GOG keys for backers.

      @John - If you haven't received your physical rewards, please email us at info@hbs-studios.com.

      @Thomas - We are currently working with the Humble Store so that Linux users have a DRM-free option. We expect it to be available there by the end of the year.

      This is good news. I'd be buying a copy at GOG, but the lack of Linux support is an issue. I'm glad that you're allowing the Linux version to be available. I can hardly wait.

    8. John Falcon on December 11, 2013

      Great news...any word on how the physical rewards are coming along?

    9. Valeriy on December 11, 2013

      ... and this makes GOG redundant. Sorry, GOG, you are the weakest element. Farewell!

      Amazeballs! Thankyouguyz so much. I've been keeping a space warm by the IE greats and SR:R can finally take it's place beside them. Super jazzed by this news, you've really managed to pull the rabbit out on this one.

    11. Federico on December 11, 2013

      Great news indeed, i really like GOG.

    12. Ryan "Keokuk" Smith on December 11, 2013

      Very glad you guys could execute on the DRM free side of things :)

      Once again, thanks for pulling through on this one.

    13. Dragoon on December 11, 2013

      Great news! I'm truly thankful that you guys pressed Microsoft to get a full DRM free distribution for everyone and now backers even get a free GOG key. WOW!

    14. Alexandre MANGIN on December 10, 2013

      I got my GOG key very quickly. Thank you very much, HBS!

      @Michele:

      My guess is that there's been some form of miscommunication/misfiring, given the updates on the HBS site and the Kickstarter updates so far coincided.

      Also: updating all backer accounts might not be the best solution for HBS depending on how they get the keys. But then that's pure speculation on my part.

      @HBS @Emeraude
      That's why I suggested to actually use the backer site that was there for that reason. You could add the key for every backer and they could simply access it like they did for the steam key (other than receiving it automatically by mail). Easier than reply to potentially 36000 and more mail.

      @Emeraude
      I would have preferred to be notified about that deadline by an update. Wasn't it the point of these updates to let people know beforehand?

    17. RC on December 10, 2013

      Hoi Yoki!

      Yes, of course Dragonfall will be on Steam too! HBS was just pointing out that in-addition to Steam, it will come to GoG and Humble. ^_^

    18. Yoki Erdtman on December 10, 2013

      Will Shadowrun: Dragonfall be available on Steam as well?

      @Kenny
      I know, and I like it. But new games are not always updated as soon as an update is available.
      Probably if there wasn't the Microsoft embargo the game would have been made available directly with the humble store that usually provide its drm-free versione plus various key for different store. That's what I meant.

      @Emeraude
      It's mentioned but regarding linux port. I was wondering if this would be made available for all backers.
      You are right GOG doesn't have linux support and right now it's not planned unfortunately.

      Regarding the translation i missed the news because was not reported here, otherwise I could have at least gave a feedback in time. I hope its well done because the writing of DMW was really good and I'd hate to see it ruined like too often happen.

    24. S.D. on December 10, 2013

      Jalister, GOG will not get on board someday, well not at least in the "foreseeable future". Hence, they can foresee no future in which they choose to implement Linux support. Which is sad, but fine I guess. Classics are appearing on Desura (Fallout 1 & 2, Descent, Earthworm Jim, etc) and on Steam in a way that allows us to grab the game assets for ScummVM (The 7th Guest, I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream), so there may be a future for good old games outside of GOG.com :-)

    25. Jalister on December 10, 2013

      I was just going to say that GOG doesn't support Linux. While GOG has been my favorite store, I have to buy my games that also support Linux from other DRM free stores. Hopefully GOG will get on board one day. They are one of the last good stores to not carry Linux games.

      Emeraude on December 10, 2013

      @Michele: They mention the humble Store in the last line of the update.

      @Kenny: the issue probably is that GOG doesn't have Linux support (as far as I'm aware, someone correct me if I'm wrong).

      @HBS congrats and thanks. Much respect for you people (and good luck with the translations while I'm at it).
      Hopefully the move *also* proves to be economically good for you in a significant way.

    27. Jeremie Lariviere on December 10, 2013

      Woohoo!!! GOG is awesome! Thanks!
      and this should be very good for your distribution as well!

      I wonder now if a humble store key would be provided, it seems the most logical step to honor the original drm free promise. HS usually manage well drm free downloads and updates.

    30. S.D. on December 10, 2013

      Yes! Humble seem like good partners. I wish you the best of luck on your DRM-free odyssey :-)

      Good. But wouldn't be faster and more reliable to add the code in the download section of the account at the HBS site? Why scatter the information when you already has us registered.

    33. Killstring on December 10, 2013

      @Robert Andruszko Nah, but there are a lot of people for whom a DRM-free version is very significant, and were pretty upset that the DRM-free versions wouldn't be as supported as the Steam version.

      Rightfully so, I think.

      Really good job on this, HBS. As someone who happily uses the Steam version, it's nevertheless awesome to see you guys diligently working with the community.

      Awesome stuff all around.

    34. RC on December 10, 2013

      Now this is some totally WIZ news, Chummers! Seriously, HBS continues to respond to our feedback and progressively improves all things Shadowrun Returns with every step they take, every move they make... *grin* ^_^

    35. Robert Andruszko on December 10, 2013

      Having problems with Steam?
