Hey Everyone! 

When Jordan created the original world of Shadowrun, he didn’t predict that people would one day interact with that world on touch-screen computers more powerful than the one that took us to the moon. It is extremely gratifying that the enthusiasm for this game setting has stood the test of time and that we are now able to deliver it on mobile devices to a new generation of gamers. 

The iOS and Android tablet versions of Shadowrun Returns is being released in the Apple and Google Play stores for $9.99 on Thursday, September 26. The tablet versions doesn't include the editor and will not contain access to community created content but we do plan to bundle the best community content and release it on tablets at some point in the future. 

As we've said before, we know a most paid marketing efforts are kind of useless. Most of us rely on the opinions of people we trust to help us figure out what we want to play next. So please help get the word out that the iOS and Android versions are available by sharing the links below, along with some Shadowrun love.

      Hoi André!

      Update #4 stated the Linux version would come later. The beta test branch of the Linux version is being made available through Steam for community testing this month because it's not finished yet. Below is the quote during the Kickstarter about Linux, and you can check it out under the Updates Tab, Update #4:

      "So here’s the deal: We can now say with confidence that if we hit our $1M stretch goal, we will be able to partner with the right external developer, port Shadowrun Returns to Linux, and deliver it in a reasonable amount of time after the game is released.

      We’ll also add it to the $15 reward level (alongside the PC/Mac versions). Now if you’re a Linux-only user, you’ll have to wait for your version, but from what you’ve told us, you’re willing to do that.

      Thanks again for all the support, the constructive comments, and for your patience."

      I just got my rewards in the mail today. Why isn't the Linux version of the game on the game disc? According to the tier everything was supposed to be on the usb dog tag but instead it is on two cd's which is fine. I am just miffed that the Linux version of the game isn't there at all which sucks for those who want to play the DRM free version.

      I haven't gotten my physical backing items either but i have heard from them. Seems like the company handling shipping stuff out is kinda slow.

      Unfortunately, the game isn't supported for the Ipad 1.

      We are aware of the crashing issues on Ipad 2 and working on a fix for that - it appears to be a memory issue and players are reporting that turning off the device and then loading can help in some cases.

      The Berlin campaign is slated for a January release. There will be patches until then but the team is concentrating their efforts on making Berlin great instead of smaller expansions.

      Works great on my Toshiba Thrive. Only oddity is the music only plays on the opening menu screen, but never once in the game.

      I have installed this on a Google Nexus 10, Nexus 7 and, out of curiosity, a Nexus 4 phone. I copied across the saved game from PC and it worked on all three. I have poor eyesight and didn't expect to be able to read the text on the Nexus 4 1280x768 4.7" screen, but in almost all cases the text is crisp and legible. The exceptions are in some description windows when setting up a new character. It's as if they are bitmaps of text which haven't scaled well, because some even smaller text in, for example, descriptions in the spend karma screen or the various tooltips, is certainly legible. Not that I seriously expect to ever run it on the Nexus 4, but it is playable if I really wanted.

      I haven't tried the iOS nor the Android version, but if you have a good way of scrolling the screen there, how about backporting that to the Windows version?
      I am running it on my Surface Pro tablet, which means that I run the regular Steam version, but scrolling the screen is almost hopeless (Well, I do manage to scroll the screen, but that usually also ends up in a character moving at the same time, which is undesirable, especially in combat).
      Other than the scrolling, the interface of the regular Windows version feels quite nice on a windows tablet. (Ok, you do ask the user to type in a name for the character at the beginning, which is not very tablet friendly, but that is not really that big of a deal on the surface for a single occurance such as that)

      Bought and installed on my Nexus 7. Ran it and realised it's a good idea that I find my reading glasses. Enjoying it quite a bit so far (except for the slight trouble reading the text).

      A little sad that I would have to pay again for a tablet version. I mean, I understand it was clear from the beginning and all, but having paid $125 already, it seems weird.

      HBS: Thanks for the Linux update just now! Saying "still plugging away" is, believe it or not, really good news. It means you haven't forgotten about us amidst the "release storm" on mobile devices. This means more than you know; I concur with the below commentors that even seeing a single sentence about Linux in the update would have been heartening. That said, I'm happy that you've commented.

      Hi, All -

      There were a number of Samsung devices that were disabled accidentally in the Note and Tab families. They've been turned on. Tabs are now compatible again and the Note family should be up imminently.

      We know about the backer code issue and are working to fix that.

      On Linux - We're still plugging away so there wasn't any new "news" to share.

      Hooray! I am also a little concerned about the save system not being very friendly with tablet play, but I'm still super excited to be able to take SR;R wherever I go. Another $10 isn't even something to think twice about, all things considered. Thanks, HBS - keep up the good work!

      Re: "buying again" for Backers -- Harebrained could have done an IAP (in-app purchase) model with redeemable codes, making the base app free (like a demo -- maybe only allow the first scene or two of the campaign in a "free" mode).

      That said, $10 isn't much for an app of this ambition. It's pretty much the exact same game people have already paid $60 for.

      I am weighing in on hoping for a Windows Store version soon. I got rid of my iPad and both Android tablets I used to have in favor of Surface (1 year later - no regrets!!). Heck - I would be willing to help however needed for something like that. Personally I would pay more than $10 too - mainly because I played the game on the PC for a couple of days - but I am on my Surface much more often...

      Either way - congrats for the tablet release - nice to see something other than rehashed casual games coming out in that market ;)

      That's great news. But I Wonder if a game where you have to dedicate at least 30 minutes each time you run it can really work on tablets.

      By the way, When are we going, us Europeans, to receive the physical goodies. I backed at 125$ and I've yet to receive them.

      Since you've made an android version, any plans on adapting an Ouya version for adding the first real rpg to the Ouya Ecosystem? I know I'd pay for it again just for this, even though I'm already a backer.

      Count me too as purchaser if app worked on Note 10.1. Seems to be available for my Note phone but I'm not excited by that screen size for this game. In fact, games like this one are exactly the reason I got the Note 10.1.

      Well Ok, was a bit hasty with the "multi-tasks fine" in Android comment. You can't guarantee it will switch back in without restarting (therefore losing current progress up until the last autosave). It depends what you do while switched out. With my near zero knowledge of Android, I suspect it is a result of memory management. Before a reboot, reloading a chrome browser page could be enough to force SR to restart, but after a reboot it is much more likely to continue after checking mail and reloading a few browser tabs - so it's possible but a bit risky to task-switch in mid campaign and expect to continue exactly where you left off, unlike the Steam version where I regularly alt-tab out and hibernate/sleep the PC without any problems. However, as you would hope/expect, putting the tablet in standby doesn't seem to cause any problems continuing where you left off.

      Runs on my Galaxy S4, but the fonts are a bit too small to comfortably read (Hey, I'm old), and some of the buttons take a few attempts to make work. Looks gorgeous, but have to agree, mostly a tablet game. I bought it, but probably won't play it on the android til I get a new android tablet.

      What's this I hear about a reward code? :D

      Seems to be working fine on Nexus 10 Android 4.3. There is no exit game button, neither does the android back button do anything so have to kill it from the recent apps screen or a task killer. Not exactly a big problem though. It multi-tasks fine. Reward code submission failed, but I thought it was only for custom content anyway? It applied successfully to the steam version and I saw no difference there, so presumably have to wait for suitable content to be made. Don't know if it will automatically appear on the content menu of if we will have to re-input the code? Presumably the backer reward code is not intended to work on the android version as that isn't part of the kickstarter.
