"What's the Watermelon for?" Your Most Burning Questions Answered

Miss those intimate video chats from Jordan? Well, he misses you too. So much, in fact, that he and Mitch are appearing, along with Catalyst Games, to speak about Shadowrun and Shadowrun Returns at PAX Prime Seattle—a gaming convention that happens every August.

With its free console, handheld, and tabletop gaming areas, as well as musical acts and panels, PAX is simply a gamer’s delight. We’d love to see you there, and Jordan is going to love answering your questions in person. (Seriously. He lives for this stuff.) So if you can make it out to Seattle to see Jordan and Mitch answer your questions, they’d love to see you. (And believe it or not, they’re even prettier off-camera.) Shadowrun Returns Q&A Where: Convention Center Second Floor, Room 213 When: Saturday, September 1st: 2PM & 7PM If you can’t make it, don’t fret! We’ll be tweeting, recording videos whenever we can, and generally doing everything we can think of to keep you in on whatever info they share.

And hey, speaking of keeping you in the loop, you’ve seen the Shadowrun Online Kickstarter, right? It’s something every Shadowrun fan should know about!

Anyway, the team is super-focused and plugging away here. Remember, you can find us on

Hmm, this isn't showing up on the PAX schedule.

    2. Ed Blackfield on August 8, 2012

Ouya and shadowrun returns would be great since it seems SR online might not make it and they are supporting ouya

The watermelon? In the context of 'Buckaroo Banzai' the watermelon was placed in a scene as a test to see if the studio flacks were still watching the dailies. When the scene passed without comment, they knew they could do -anything- in the movie, because it was no longer being overseen by studio brass.

Hmm, SRO(if it survives the Kickstarter-Catastrophe that seems inevitable right now) will support the new Ouya Console . . What about SRR?

      Hoi chummers!

*sigh I wish I could make it this year. I really hope we get live streaming video from the conference!!

Also, if you're a fan of Shadowrun in any form - Returns/PnP, SNES/Genesis...etc check out the new "legwork" video the guys over at the Shadowrun Online kickstarter project posted. While we wait for more news from HBS on Shadowrun Returns and the big Gencon announcements, give the SRO project another look, you might be surprised how it's not turning out to be what everyone thought. I'm SO loving all the Shadowrun emergence occuring this year, and we even get Shadowrun 2050 with updated rules. AWESOME!! ^_^

The last PAX had most of it's panels aired live on a streaming video site with good quality. Hoping this one is too

    7. Starius on August 4, 2012

This doesn't appear on the main PAX schedule yet, as shown here:
But is this event held in what is referred to as "Main Theatre?"

    8. John Tankersley on August 3, 2012

Tickets sold out too fast for me this time. If anybody knows where I can get a legit one, please send me a message. Would love to go and see your talks!

These days one guy with a smart phone in the first row is enough to record such a thing.

The qualitiy isn´t that important as long as its understandable.
Just upload it on youtube and its ok

    10. Harebrained Schemes LLC 4-time creator on August 2, 2012

Hopefully we'll be able to record it-- we're not sure at the moment, but we'll certainly keep you in the loop.

Will HBS have a booth at the show, by any chance?

    12. Starius on August 1, 2012

I will be attending PAX Prime and definitely will try to catch this panel if I am able.

    13. David Sherman on August 1, 2012

Will there be any special loot for KS Backers who show up for the Q&A???

    14. Meowface on August 1, 2012

Any chance this will be recorded and made available to backers who won't be there?

    15. Paul Marzagalli on August 1, 2012

Won't be there, so someone please ask: will there be interactions between kittens and dragons in SR?

    16. Ryan Saul on August 1, 2012

2 panels even? Wow that is great! Looking forward to seeing you all!

    17. Sangius on August 1, 2012

Too bad Seattle is so far away for me. Looking forward to the updates though! :)

Also: Happy to see some love for the Shadowrun Online. The devs their reacted to a lot of feedback from the community. Giving the project a second look should really be worth it for many.

    19. William on August 1, 2012

BTW, one can figure email updates under notifications:
Then if people don't want to get these updates, they can turn them off and manually check the KS update page occasionally if they desire.

    20. James McKendrew on August 1, 2012

To the people demanding that there should be no updates that are not game updates, you have your answer. "Uh, no."

    21. Daniel Helmick on August 1, 2012

      Great Buckaroo Banzai reference. XD
