Seconded. For the love of all that is holy do not make Shadowrun a JRPG.

LOWFYR strikes RENQUEST for 3728 damage!!!

    10. Creator praguepride on May 27, 2012

please for the love of everything do not use jrpg ANYTHING

    11. Creator H on May 26, 2012

I won't be available, but I do want to know why you don't just start a Kickstarter to buy all the FASA licenses back from Microsoft.

    12. Creator Julius Müller on May 26, 2012

If you can read german I would recommend the books of Markus Heitz "Schattenjäger" + "Schattenläufer" both are 3-in-1 books of books he published earlier. He is a realy fantastic author but I don't know if his are translated into english.

    13. Creator Alexander C. Daugherty on May 25, 2012

hmm i dont know a fall out 2 targeting system... i have killed myself to many times with that lmao!! i was more so hopping for possibly a traditional JRPG style on the fighting personally speaking but that is me i have not played the stuff in so long i am only 22 so i dont know all of the fan stuff on this i played the snes and xbox mostly

I'm still playing the tabletop every week. Very excited about a new game. I really hope it's basically a seriously expanded version of the Sega game with a quicker decking minigame and some physical adepts. Also, I like some of the somewhat lesser used cyberware and I really hope they're included in the game. Like the Activesoft Skillwires and Smartlink II to lower called-shot modifiers. Which then makes me hope that you can call shots in this one. I would love a Fallout 2 style targeting system. Real excited, guys.

I bought the first 5 which includes Never Deal with a Dragon and 2XS. Plus, I picked up Wolf and Raven. Thanks again!

    16. Creator Rodec on May 25, 2012

      Thank you guys...

    17. Creator George Dodge on May 25, 2012

The Sega Genesis game is what exposed me to Shadowrun, and I'd always hoped for more of it. Didn't much care for the SNES game's play control, so I didn't make it but ten minutes into that one before it went into a storage bin.

I'd always hoped for more Shadowrun on a console or PC, since my tabletop days are long behind me.

    18. Creator Nathan Groves on May 25, 2012

Personally, I found Stackpole's Wolf and Raven to be the best Shadowrun book. It is actually a compilation of his short stories in the universe tied together to form a longer story, so you get a lot of variety (something that would benefit someone new to the setting).

    19. Creator Tuan Pham on May 25, 2012

2XS and the Never Deal with a Dragon Trilogy are good stuff. If you can deal with snes and genesis era video games, definately check those shadowrun games out. They are both great games but i tend to like more sandboxish games like the genesis version. Another way to get a feel for shadowrun is to check out one of the pen and paper rulebooks. 1st edition should cover the time period in shadowrun returns.

    20. Creator Sebastian Steenbock on May 25, 2012

I'm not sure about it but when I was introduced to shadowrun by a good friend he advised me to start reading the 3 book circle starting with "Shadowrun 01: Never Deal with a Dragon" Honestly speaking I did not read it to the end yet, but at least the beginning was quite nice.

    21. Creator Dalriada on May 25, 2012

For the novels, since the game will be set in 2050 (the 'first' period covered by the game), you can go with the old novels.
Imho, the best novel to enter the word of shadowrun is 2XS, by Nigel Findley (it covers a lot of characteristics of Shadowrun. Not all, but a lot of what will appear in the game).
You can also find some books for the roleplaying game, if you can find them for a cheap price. They will give you a lot of informations.

NEED HELP / ADVICE (opinions wanted!)
I'm a backer, but no nothing about the Shadowrun universe having never played a game in the world or read anything about it. That being said I love reading and wanted to see if there were any books. I found out that there are over 40!! Wow, where should I began? Is the beginning necessary? Are there better novels than others? The rebooted the books in 09, should I start there or is this deep into it? THANKS!

    23. Creator russell on May 25, 2012

How many shadowrun groupies dressed as heart from the novels have you slept with at the diffrent CON's around the world

    24. Creator Jazz on May 24, 2012

You guys are tossing Jordan to the wolves at Reddit? Ouch. Is this part of his rehabilitation?

    25. Creator SebastianVW on May 24, 2012

@Matt Is Berlin a particularly popular city among ballet dancers? I suppose probably more so than any of the other options, but would there really be enough ballerinas and danseurs voting to sway the vote that much?

    26. Creator Daryk Zirkle on May 24, 2012

@Nicholas Russell: Try Myth Weavers or Real Role Playing if you're looking for play by post. I'm in several Shadowrun games on those boards (2x3e, 1x4e).

    27. Creator Matt on May 24, 2012

How much ballet stuffing happened to ensure that Berlin won the spot for the second city? (lols)

    28. Creator Nicholas Russell on May 24, 2012

Does Jordan Weisman know how to make getting an online pnp Shadowrun group easier?

Will it be an official AmA (in the reddit sidebar) or will it need to be linked to directly like the Jane Jensen one?
