Hmmmm I never did get my backer T-shirt...
Just got started proper on Dragonfall and I'm already sick of babysitting this catty Eiger. This is more over-dramatic than jersey shore. Is this how women in the military act? I'm sure I'll enjoy this game, but I'm hoping for more genuine drama, less contrived soap opera over-acting for this and Hong Kong. This might seem minor, but I'm really finding it difficult to get through this angsty dialogue, so far It's dampered my enjoyment of the game.
So I know I'm ludicrously, absurdly late about this, but I dunno if I ever grabbed my Shadowrun Returns Anthology PDF. Is there any way for me to get it now? I have the game on Steam, but never got a DRM free copy on Gog or Humble store.
@Robert: Yeah, check the email you have attached to your Kickstarter account. I just checked and the email with my Dragonfall keys was dated February 25th, 2014.
If you can't find it in your inbox, then email info "at" hbs-studios "dot com" from that email account and they can probably send you new key/s.
@Robeert: Yeah you have missed ... a lot. Not only did we get Dragonfall, we also got the fantastic Dragonfall: Director's Cut, which had rebalanced combat and a ton of new content.
I'd recommend you definitely find your copy of Dragonfall Director's Cut and give it a play, you're in for a good time :)
We were suppose to get Dragonfall if we backed this correct? Been away for awhile but never got a key for Dragonfall, did I miss something?
Seems over 20,000 of you Shadowrun Returns backers still haven't joined us on SR: HK... Come on, chummers. The tier to get a digital copy of the game and soundtrack is only $15... Whatdya waiting for a fraggin' personal invitation.
See you on the other side!
Not long now, just finished SR-DMS and playing Dragonfall DirCut now. Had so many games to play, so had to put it on hold.
But, wow, i really like these games. And Dragonfall is a very nice improvement on the rather short and easy (but enjoyable) DMS!
If they make further improvements with Hong Kong, then we are in for a very good experience.
Also got a friend of mine to play DMS yesterday, he is very happy with it. And is looking forward to play Dragonfall.
Can't wait to learn about Hong Kong in a short while!
Krist2 ;). Very soon now. Hopefully they will have some cool surprises.
Nice list, you will make it big in publishing! :D
@Slarkki, Sounds like a plan, Chummer! With HBS based near the Seattle Metroplex, they're 'runnin on PST, so I'm gussing they'll launch some time after they get all settled in to the office ^_^
It's been 13th for many, many hours now and still no new Shadowrun on Kickstarter. ;)
Ok, maybe it is not a good idea to hit F5 every 5 seconds yet as it will probably take another 12 hours or something. :-(
Anytime Ber. I am so freaking excited to see what they have on the KS page tomorrow.
Lol, Christopher G, thanks for the beautiful insight into the world of big studio publisher logic to pander to the masses/teenagers.
Thank God for KS so the rest of us can get the games we want made!
I speak for all gamers when I give you this advice on the next game. To not listen to all of it is to doom the Shadowrun gaming franchise and all other productions of the series.
1. It must be FPS and not isometric. No one likes isometric and it is a viewpoint that adds no tactical advantage to the game. It only takes away from the details that players want to see. Look at Fallow 3 for example/
2. Remove all of the confusing RPG elements. Only nerds like Role Playing games and thus do not play video games. Normal people do not like all of that complicated crap. And they add no depth to gaming and should be removed.
3. No physical rewards. Nobody wants a collector’s edition or a shirt. They are only a waste of money that will just sit in a warehouse as nobody wants them.
4. Make the game console only. PC gaming is dead and PCs are now only used for the LGR and grandmothers creating postcards with Printmaster. Make this a console exclusive focusing on the Nintendo Wii U. As it has the most advanced components that would suit this new game. Amiibos anyone?
5. Online Only. This has to be a team shooter in the vein of Battlefield 1942 as it is perfection as team shooters go. I know what you are thinking. Whay hasn’t anyone ever made a Shadowrun team based online shooter before?!? Nobody plays offline anymore and any form of single player story to this game will just be unrealistic and eye rolling. It is long overdue that Shadowrun had a Team based shooter on gaming consoles. You can send me a Thank You commission checks after the game is released.
6. No fantasy elements. This has to be Sci-fi only and to combine anything like werespiders and jabberwockys would not only be lazy, but just plain silly. People barely like Sci-fy and fatasy even less. You might even want to set it in the real world and put it somewhere like Natchez, MS or Buffalo, NY.
7. Also make this a F2P game on the iPad. If you are really serious about giving the community what it wants then do the following. Reskin Ninja Cats vs Samurai Dogs, and add paid Free and DLC. Partner up with Pepsi and advertise codes for DLC. Give people what they want with things like easy access to gold for modest amounts of real money. Or special armor for a few dollars.
Thank you for reading over what I have written you and I hope you take most or all of too heart. No please excuse me while I go inhale some more Meta.
My credstick is ready.
I seriously wish I could spare $10K because if there's one developer that deserves it and would put it to good use, it is HBS. Unfortunately I'm saving up to buy my first house... So I will do the next best thing and spread the word and promote the KS campaign as much as I possibly can.
(pssst...but secretly, I very much agree with you...) ^_^
That's what multiple endings, different archetype experiences, some wonderful UGC, and the game editor are for, Chummer! Game on! ^_^
Almost getting depressed here. The next Shadowrun kickstarter does start soon enough but I'm guessing it will take a while before the game is complete. Life is so unfair! ;)
AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!! It's launching on January 13th!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My HEAD!!!!! It's EXPLODING with EXCITEMENT!!!!!! ^_`'-.,.-'`'-.,.-'`'-.,.-'`'-.,.-'`'-.,.-'`'-.,.-'`'-.,.-'`'-.,.-'`'-.,.-'`'-.,.-'`'-.,.- '`'-.,.-`'-.,.-'`'-.,.-'`'-.,.-'`'-.,.-'`'-.,.-'`'-.,.-'`'-.,.-'`'-.,.-'`'-.,.-'`'-.,.-'`'-.,.- '`'-.,_
Finally finished Dragonfall after having to deal with other things. I am properly hyped for the next kickstarter, lets get to it.
For all you other super-fans of Shadowrun who are impatient to back, there are a couple of tricks to make your support more effective. They have to do with an irrational habit of many potential backers: they don't like to back a project that doesn't seem like it will succeed. (This is irrational as they won't be charged unless it is actually successful, and they are making it less likely to succeed by holding off on backing. The behaviour is noted from huge bursts in backing right as a project hits the target, and in many backers openly confessing to it in comments.)
So, there is two related aspects to defeating this silly behaviour: get backing levels high in the first few days, and hit the target as early as possible.
The obvious way to help this, is to back the maximum amount you think you eventually will, as soon as you can. Don't back some now, thinking you might increase it later, or hold off on backing for a few days to 'see how it goes first'. If you think you'll be good for $100, put that in on day one. You will be contributing to the appearance of success for the project, which leads directly to actual success of the project. If it turns out that you actually only have $50 spare on the last day of the project, then reduce your pledge on that day and that's all you'll be charged, but your other 'maybe' $50 will have helped along the way.
Please note that I am not suggesting people put in inflated, fake backing amount, only that you put your likely full support as early as possible.
@wes: Don't forget, Kickstarter doesn't actually charge you until the campaign is over (and successful)... So for example if Harebrained Schemes launches a new 30 day Kickstarter on Jan.15th, Amazon wouldn't charge us anything until Feb. 15th.... So you will actually have another month to save up funds for it anyway.
@Kickme if you are meaning the dragonfall directors cut, if gog, check the shadowrun download page in your gog account and you will find a web link page to add dragonfall directors cut to your account. And I belive steam added it automatically to your account ( could be wrong in that )
I really want to back this but they picked the worst month to announce it, everyone's broke after christmas, and it's hard to budget this into my month with no clue what the tiers are going to be.
@KickMe Also, check the email address you used to back the project with for an email titled, "Here are Your Shadowrun: Dragonfall Keys!!" The email starts off with "Hello from HBS!"
@KickMe Email HBS via email@example.com letting them know. Likely they're swamped with email after returning from the holidays, so give it a few days for a reply, Chummer ^_^
I have never received any indication of receiving a copy of Dragonfall in any form despite being a backer. Can we get this fixed?
I am waiting too see what they launch on kickstater, if it is seeking funding just for another campaign that can stand on its own I will be disappointed and will be resigned that there will be no large open world due to the limitation of tablets
So I take it this should be taken as a sign of future non-Project-related "updates" to come? Time to turn off notifications...
Scratch Japan. The picture url states HK-KS. Hong Kong?
Big Trouble in Little.. wait, huge Neo-Tokyo!
Great job, HBS.
pssst...hey, Chummers... Shadowrun: Dragonfall is up for Game of the Year on Destructiod. The more recognition it gets, the more folks may tune in to the Kickstarter! GO! Vote! ^_^
GO vote for Shadowrun: Dragonfall for Game of the Year on Destructoid! It'll give us a better Kickstarter the more folks know about the game!
"Harebrained Schemes seeks a content designer to work onsite in their Kirkland, WA studio and contribute to the next Shadowrun Returns campaign."
Based on your comment, I think the response you received was based on HBS's Golem Arcana Kickstarter. They likely thought you were asking about that, as the Golem Arcana project has phases of reward shipments that are currently going out. For Shadowrun Returns, all the rewards were shipped out around summer of 2013.
I suggest pinging them again, and clearly state up front you're asking about SHADOWRUN RETURNS Kickstarter Rewards. Though I doubt they still have all the physical rewards in stock after a year. Good luck, Chummer.
Hi there, just wanted to quickly pop along and say that I'm supremely impressed with HBS' output and commitment to their pledges so far! One very happy backer here, with no complaaints. Even though I qualified for the all-digital bundle, I decided to forgo playing the game on desktop and ponied up for the (very reasonably priced) mobile version instead. Wow, I gotta say it's in my top three favourite iOS games to date and adore how smoothly it runs on iPad and the slick touchscreen interface. Can't wait to pick up Dragonfall when it launches! My only request would be for some way to download the best community-created campaigns on iOS, but what with abundance of variety already available with different races, classes and load-outs, I think I'll be enjoying playing this game for quite some time to come as it is. Keep up the stellar work and can't wait to see what else you lot have up your sleeves. In the meantime, keep it wavy!
Any updates on the remaining physical rewards? I never got mine during the first round. I wrote to the info email account a couple months ago and they said they were expecting to send the rest out around this time, but I didn't get a response to an email I sent a week ago.
Where is the german translation for Dragonfall DC ?
I've backed the game, because there was promised a german translation - not only for the original game. The DLC was included as a stretchgoal. I cant enjoy the full story, because my english is not that good... :(
@Ben - Unfortunately, we do not have any more USB dogtags. Very sorry it's not working.
@eoryl - We've submitted to Apple and are waiting to hear back from them to announce a release date. Stay tuned.
@Harebrained Schemes any news of an iOS release date for Dragonfall ?
I've only just gotten around to trying my USB key, but it's dead in the water. Anything I can do about it? Windows recognises it, but it has no capacity.
the patch 2.0.6 of dragonfall wiil not be available to GOG ? it was released 22 october in steam but in gog its still 2.0.5. its usual to take so time to appear ?
Torment needs some help from RPG fans. They need $11k in the next 6 days to hit their stretch goal to add a new area to the game and they are getting less than $1k a day lately.
Planescape: Torment was perhaps the greatest PC game of all time and this successor looks amazing. If you love RPGs and you haven't backed it yet, please do so.
What about the translations ?
HBS's most recent comment has mentioned late October/early November. No specific date yet, Chummer.
Has there been any update on the ETA for the iOS and Android versions of Dragonfall? Last I heard was "probably in October" but that was awhile ago.
While they've posted some of the stories on their tumblr, if you were supposed to get a copy of the .pdf, contact HBS via firstname.lastname@example.org ^_^
