Suffering follows twenty-something Nan on her personal quest to become a suffering artist after she receives some debatable advice.
Catch the latest video introduction to our film, and enjoy the brief journey into protagonist Nan's POV!
A select number of MFA Candidates from USC's School of Cinematic Arts get the chance to direct a thesis film. This one is from writer/director Kyle Frederick.
'Suffering' is a story of artistic aspirations, confused identities, and some questionable decision-making:
When naive and play-it-safe NAN (25) meets her artistic idol, the morbidly rebellious JULIETTE (30s), she starts off on a personal journey to to become a suffering artist. What ensues is a series of humorous situations that force Nan to confront lingering questions about her own personal relationships and her role in the world at large.
What makes this story worth your time and money?
Write what you know. 'Suffering' is not depressing or agenda-pushing, but a unique exploration of an individual's journey towards self-expression. It's a story that everyone can identify with, and raises some thought-provoking questions.
We have big plans for our production, including shooting on a tricked out digital camera, miniDV, and film. Our locations include a sweet LA loft space, and a mysterious downtown art gallery that we're partially constructing. All-told it's going to be a visual feast with entertaining characters.

Every Little Bit Counts.
Filmmaking is an exciting collaborative endeavor, but one that takes a significant investment of time and money. We're pumped to shoot our film this August in the City of Angels, and need your help to make it happen!
The many needs of a film production include such things as:
- Food for our Hardworking Crew
- Locations Fees & Permits
- Camera & Lighting Equipment
- Set Construction & Design
- Makeup Kit Fees
- Film Processing
- Editorial Equipment
Every donation will go towards the completion of the film. Your investment helps to ensure that we can run a safe and professional set, and produce a film that lives up to our creative vision.
We're excited to bring our friends in on the making of this project and we hope that you'll be a part of this journey with us! You couldn't invest in a more talented or enthusiastic group of filmmakers, who share a wealth and variety of experience both inside and outside of the film industry. We've put a lot of time into coming up with rewards that are representative of our own tastes and will give you a lasting piece of the production.
If we don't raise our entire goal, we don't get any of the funds. So please, tell your friends! Re-post our link! And please consider giving us some spare change, or more if you think you can swing it.
Here's a little more about the team of professionals that you're helping out...
