Vault Assault is a fast-paced "Cops & Robbers" dice game for 2-4 players taking 10-20 minutes.

Players take turns alternating between the roles of Cops and Robbers; the Robbers will try to steal as much money as possible, and the Cops will try to arrest the Robbers before they escape.

Using their set of dice, the Robbers will attempt to cut the bank's alarm and steal the precious diamonds. Then they will continue to steal as much money as possible by tearing through the safety-deposit boxes, and loading up their getaway cars. Although they can use hostages to keep the Cops at bay for a short period, eventually they will have to gather their loot and escape as fast as possible.

Meanwhile the Cops, using their unique dice, will attempt to foil the Robbers' plans by cleverly hiding the alarm's weak point, setting traps, and securing the diamonds. Then the Cops will be rolling their dice to complete mosaics signalling the completion of each stage in the heist—from fuelling up at the donut shop, to getting dispatched in their cars, to surrounding the bank, and finally arresting the Robbers before they can escape.

After a set number of rounds, the game ends and players add up the value of their safety-deposit boxes along with any diamonds they have stolen. The player/team with the most valuable loot wins!

Robbers' Dice
Robbers' Dice

All the dice in Vault Assault are colourful custom dice with original hand-painted artwork. Although simplifying the artwork and engraving the dice would have been easier, one of the important mechanics of the game is the mosaic building the Cops have to do. Even though the Cops are rolling the same number of dice as the Robbers, this extra step slows them down just enough to give the lawbreakers a slight advantage.

In a 2-player game, there is 1 Cop and 1 Robber. A 3-player game has 1 Cop and 2 Robbers. And a 4-player game has the players working in teams of 2 Robbers against 2 Cops. The games are always fast and exciting, as the players are rolling dice as fast as they can to steal, or to complete their mosaics. The 4-player team game adds an important communication factor, as each team member needs to clearly discuss their plans with a teammate, as they cannot be successful on their own.

 - Lance Myxter - Undead Viking

"Vault Assault is ridiculous, dead simple, and shockingly fun. This is the type of game you keep in your glove compartment to pull out to teach and play with just about anyone. Regardless of whether you are sitting around the table with your in-laws, waiting for game night stragglers, or keeping the kids entertained before dinner, within three minutes you'll be chucking dice, shouting, and laughing." Patrick Kelly - Blue Peg Pink Peg Gaming Podcast

"Vault Assault is a quick paced, push your luck dice game where teammates must frantically work in unison to collect as much loot as possible before the opposing team cuffs them and throws them in jail. We had a blast with this one at Origins" - Jeremy Salinas - Man Vs Meeple

"I've played Vault Assault and it's pure dice-hucking fun. Much like a real bank heist and chase (I would assume, I've never been in one) the game forces you pay attention to what your opponents are doing while, at the same time, trying to get to your ultimate goal. Both the individual and team modes offer their own excitement, and I often found myself yelling and laughing while trying to complete each phase of the heist. I wanted to play it many times over." - Richmond Bramblet - KSR - Funkhouser

"My favorite part of Vault Assault is in the middle of the dice chucking, I have to think about a puzzle. Building the picture out of the matching dice seems easy, but in the heat of thievery all that goes out the window." - TJ Firebeard

"Dead simple, stressful fun!" - KY Mike

"In a full game of Vault Assault, the final phase will be total mayhem with everyone rolling and building sets/mosaics as fast they can while people are screaming out results and doing the corresponding actions. It gets the adrenaline going, causes frustration and laughter numerous times and was really fun to play. It was even better our second time through when we weren’t recording and could just relax and play." - Samantha Fisher - GeekDad (Full Review Link)

Risks and challenges

Although this is only my second game, I have already set in place a great network of professional support and contacts to ensure this process will be as smooth as possible.
I prepared like crazy for my first Kickstarter (Summit: The Board Game), but I also learned a lot. I have streamlined the process to remove the issues and hiccups I encountered, and I’ll do my best to make sure that any new ones will have as little an impact as possible.
The biggest challenge I see is the self-imposed timeline. I REALLY want to have Vault Assault available at Essen this year. Which is very tight. But I have 99% of the artwork finalized, the templates at the manufacturer, and the freighters and shippers on standby. It’s going to be a ride, but it’ll be fun to follow along!
