You're doing something mild mannered when the fantastic happens. You are whisked away to a distant magical land. You have nothing... but your name...
In Name Only is a minimalist role-playing system where your real, actual name determines all your skills, abilities, and powers. Letters in your name correspond to talents. For example, A is for Archery and B is for Brawling. A longer name means more talents with a smaller bonus while a shorter name means fewer talents but with a larger bonus.
There's not much more we can say without simply sharing the whole system with you... and that's exactly what we're going to do! Click here and you can check out In Name Only.
The Core Mechanics
In Name Only uses a fairly simple system. When players need to make checks, they roll a d20 and add a bonus (usually between +3 and +5 depending on the length of their name). If the result is 10 or more, they succeed.
Check modifiers are used to alter the circumstances and mechanics of a check. A difficult check requires a 15 to succeed instead of a 10. A dangerous check knocks a character out of the game for the remainder of the scene if they fail it.
What You Get
All backers of this campaign will receive a finalized PDF for In Name Only. This will include the full system, a one-shot adventure, extended plot hooks (with twists) to inspire your own adventures, rules for progression, and (hopefully) a couple pieces of art.
For $1, you get the PDF, which includes the rules, an adventure that you can play right away, and some adventure hooks to get you thinking about another adventure!
For $2, you get the PDF from above and special permission to use names in the game other than your real world name! How will we enforce this? We can't! But we're only selling 100 of these!
For $10, you get everything above and your name will be included in one of our examples to immortalize your generosity in one of the blocks of text most people never read! And you can play the game with any name you want — but why would you? Your name will literally be in the game!
All the text is done and laid out, and we have the art done already. No wall of text for you for a dollar! We just have to stick in some examples and export it!
As soon as the campaign is complete, we intend to share our most up to date draft with all our backers so you can be running the game immediately. The final PDF will likely be ready within 4 weeks.

Risks and challenges
We're only making a PDF. So no concern of production snafus, shipping issues, and the like. We're in act of god and personal tragedy territory in order to fail delivering. In the worst of cases, one of us should be able to give the files to a friend to finish.
The system is complete. You'll have something in your digital hand within a day of the campaign's completion. We've given ourselves ample time to sort out any issues. The final PDF should deliver on schedule if not before.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
