2,648 backers pledged $595,676 to help bring this project to life.

What's next? How about everything?

Here's a very important announcement, and one that we hope will be of interest and excitement to the fans and backers!

We continue to blow through stretch tiers.  That's incredibly amazing!   Overnight we surpassed the most recent tier, where we are adding reversible covers for all seasons and for all backers.  This will be exclusive to the Kickstarter backers - those who buy the later retail release will not have this.

It may have been mentioned in the comments, but wading through the many comments each day can be difficult - if you are a domestic customer, you'll receive Season 1 and the merchandise items upon completion.  You'll receive Season 2 when all episodes of it are completed

So today, we're going to add another batch of stretch goals.  We truly hope that we can reach them - but to do so we are going to need to expand our base and get new backers!  Continue to spread the word.

First off, the next stretch goal will add Season 3 (The Origination) to the guidebook that we are creating.  As mentioned previously, the guidebook is going to be available to backers as an add-on item.  It's going to be a large book with lots of artwork, materials from the limited edition booklets that were in the DVD sets, and much more.  It's going to be something that we think you'll be excited to have on your shelf.  The page count continues to grow.

We'll have another merchandise stretch goal which will include all of the company mascots.  This is a goal to continue to drive you forward.  It would be added to all SINGLE sets and above.

By popular demand, we'll add another stretch goal to allow everyone to be able to select the primary color of the subtitle tracks when watching the program.  This will add another layer of production (QC will need to occur across all episodes) but this is something that has been requested often.

But wait there's more.  If you reach the $360k stretch goal, we're going to give you the entire gondola.  Everything.  There might even be a kitchen sink in one of the gondola storage compartments.

We'll add dubbing of the Arrietta OVA.  We'll add dubbing of Aria The Origination.  We will add the unbroadcast special bonus Episode 5.5 in Aria the Origination.  We'll add dubbing to the Aria the Origination Picture Dramas.

AND, we will include and dub Aria The Avvenire, never released outside of Japan, anywhere.  These episodes were made in native HD and the animation and visuals are nothing short of stunning.

Note, we will not make new tiers for this, unless we reach the goal quickly.  Thus, what we will do is add the final set as an add-on option, which we will make accessible to all backers and slacker backers.

We have put a couple of extended stretch goals beyond.  When you reach the next goal, we will include the Japanese Avvenire commentary - which is 90 minutes of round table discussion including the Japanese cast, the Director, and cast commentary on Avvenire.  This is a really amazing piece, and as I mentioned is really long.   But worth it to any fan!  And if we make it here during the Kickstarter, we will make it EXCLUSIVELY for the Kickstarter backers and will not put it on the mainstream release.

We have a further stretch goal to add more English cast commentary to Season 3.   And I will keep coming up with more if you guys keep on going!

I can't begin to tell you how excited everyone is to see this project continue to drive forward. Your enthusiasm for this fantastic series is so very wonderful, and we look forward to being able to work on it and bring it to you, in HD, and in English.  And it looks like we will have many months of production work to come.

Jeez louise; the roadmap you guys have for Aria is awesome! You guys sure picked a series that has lots to dive into and work with, and you're clearly passionate about tackling when/if you hit them stretch goals - it's encouraging for any potential future projects the Nozomi Production Team may consider crowdfunding (^-^)

As far as the kickstarter exclusive commentary goes, I think it's a great idea, since the people backing the kickstarter will probably be paying far more for their disks then the mass market patrons will. It would be a nice bonus.

It does look like the funding has slowed down a bit now as well.

I can't even begin to describe how happy this makes me! If I'm able to pledge more, I most certainly will! But otherwise, I want that gondola! ❤️

I am genuinely torn over this KS exclusive commentary debate. I totally get those who would want something so awesome to be available to all purchasers of the sets. However, it is an absolutely kickass exclusive. I have seen some people complain that this campaign has not furnished enough in the way of KS exclusives (I don't feel that way, personally) and something like this should certainly go a long way to tamping down that sentiment. To me, it's an example of the Powers That Be heard feedback and responded in a very emphatic way.

    6. James Gwinnell on August 31, 2017

The idea of making commentary exclusive to Kickstarter is pretty awesome. Individuals here are putting up a lot more money and some exclusive swag and content isn't uncommon and welcomed.

    7. Pied Piper / DIRECTIONS / Studio Rikka Collaborator on August 31, 2017

Thanks for your feedback on wanting the commentary to be available for the regular retail release. We will take that into consideration!

With the way things have been going, anything LESS than the kitchen sink would be a huge disappointment! : P ; )

    9. Est on August 31, 2017

Nice to see things going well so far.

I can't really get behind the idea of the Avvenire commentary as an exclusive to the KS release.
My reasons are that I think this might promote piracy later down the line.
For anyone who wanted to listen to the Avvenire commentary, they will have no choice, but to download an illegal copy. Also it will add more value to the mainstream release, so it'll be even more attractive product. I just can't really see it being helpful in the long term.

I do think that if there should be a "KS" exclusive content is that maybe we can turn off the subtitles when watching the Japanese audio. Of course the mainstream release will have locked subs with the Japanese audio as noted in the FAQs. Albeit I don't mind about not having the ability to turn off the subtitles, just a thought.

Speaking of subtitles, I hope that we will have an option to turn on subtitles with the English audio, this would benefit people with disabilities to enjoy the show.

Well, I'll be looking forward to seeing all of Aria on nice, sweet blu-rays and all the nice fluffs that comes with it.

I personally love the idea of Kick starter only content on the discs; makes my kick starter acquisition more valuable and unique. All movie releases do this type of thing, Best buy, target, Wal-Mart exclusives. I am all for it. Get the word out people so folks can get in on this NOW so they WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED LATER. It is to OUR advantage to get NEW blood interested NOW!

    11. Caleb Hughes on August 30, 2017

I'm with @Ransom I really hope you can reconsider this exclusive on-disc content. I totally get not letting stuff like shirts and mugs and whatnot get beyond us supporters. But that extra content is something that just feels like it should be left for every Aria fan, whether it's here, or later on in the retail world. The only excuse I could even really see is if it is to be released as it's own disc, separate from the rest of the set, and even then, why do that unless there's some licensing reason for it?

@Marnix Warren First, click on "Manage your pledge", then "Change your pledge". From there, you can either change your pledge to a different tier or add however much you want to your current pledge.

We are almost at the update the book to include Origination which is significantly lower of a goal compared to series 3 on BD. I find this decision a comforting one, since it helps confirm what we all pretty much have taken as a given, that there is no way they would not eventually release The Origination, even if it does not make it on the current Kick Starter. If the stuff from the third series doesn't make it in this book Nozomi would be faced with not including the material in the set, or do an inefficient second book with the next Kick Starter. From the start they said the slipcase would house the entire series, this was back before they had any idea how popular the project would be, but still it is nice to see everything is still pointing towards getting the entire series to us.

For the sake of argument, would it be outlandish to request one of the alternative subtitle colors be white with thick outlines the color of President Aria's eyes? (I don't expect this to be a serious consideration, just something fun I thought of that some people might get a kick out of.)

"Japanese Avvenire commentary ... we will make it EXCLUSIVELY for the Kickstarter backers and will not put it on the mainstream release."

I'm really excited about the stretch goals we've hit and the ones still to go, but I really hope you change your mind about making the Japanese Avvenire commentary a Kickstarter exclusive. (Unless you're just not able to get a license for a mainstream release of the material.)

I'm OK with exclusive merchandise like shirts, prints, packaging, etc. But when it comes to the actual content on the discs I'd really prefer to have the public release benefit from what the Kickstarter is able to achieve. I don't want people who find the show years from now to be sad that they missed it and can't get a copy of the commentary. Instead I want them to be excited that the Kickstarter funding allowed you to include the commentary for them as well.

To clarify, will the add-on be able to be selected regardless of which tier you've selected? And will Avvenire be a part of the add-on or will it be available seperately from the Origination and the additional episodes?

    20. Christopher Bolanos on August 30, 2017

lol Ok. Now that the images have loaded, I can see that The Avvenire is definitely licensed.

    21. Kurt Krause on August 30, 2017

@Landis That's why you would set up a tier to dub season 3 part 1 or maybe the OVAs (like with season 2), at say 300,000 or, 320,000 again. Then when all of us lemmings see the goal is hit, and go ahead and pay our extra $45 to get the Triple Prima Plus or which ever triple upgraded tier you're in, then the kickstarter gets a massive funding hit again as it has so far.

Once you create such a high mark for the all in tier and then make it as an add on, you no longer have all that additional funding going into the project as it goes, Instead you have people hoping it gets up the the final goal, so they can buy a separate add on. Unfortunately adding a separate add on at that point, doesn't help raise the money during.

Does that make the comment a little more understandable.?

I have no doubt that the final goal can be reached if we continue with the smaller stretch goals, and I want to get it all if we can, even if my wallet is crying for mercy.

@Landis - I think people are saying make Origination 320k, introduce new tiers, people buy which will raise us above 360k for Avvenire for example.

@Albert - Kickstarter doesn't allow campaigns to edit/remove tiers at all.

    23. Albert Nakano on August 30, 2017

It is confusing but I really think you should continue with the tier system. Perhaps you can streamline the tiers and clean up the explanations, something like this:
Single (BDs only), Pair (BDs and some bonus items), Prima (BDs plus all non-Kickstarter exclusive bonus items), Three Water Fairies (everything)
Solo (The Animation), Double (The Animation, The Natural part 1), Double Plus (The Animation, The Natural part 1 and 2), Triple (The Animation, The Natural, The Origination), Quadruple (all TV series plus all OVAs)

@nozmi: would it be possible to include funds from slacker backer towards the extended stretch goals? At leash having a month or two count towards the overall total. Ideally, cutoff would be maybe 1-3 weeks before s1 starts shipping in the US for KS exclusive stuff/bonuses and funds to count towards stretch goals. That may lessen the pressure and just mean $360,000 is what we need for s3. I am sure people adding that and the guidebook on would PROBABLY push it over into being met.

    25. Elton Chen on August 30, 2017

Where do you buy the Neo-Venezia Guidebooks? I don't see add-ons anywhere

    26. Landis on August 30, 2017

in response to everyone saying to add more tiers, they've only added tiers AFTER reaching the stretch goal for the corresponding episodes. in this case, they wouldn't add new tiers regardless until AFTER reaching the 360k, so the notion that not adding it will slow down incoming money is irrelevant in that even if there were twice as many days left, until that 360k mark is reached, there would be no new tiers anyway. And Technically they did not say "we won't be adding new tiers and that's final" they said "we will not make new tiers for this, UNLESS WE REACH THE GOAL QUICKLY." In other words they don't want to add new tiers right at the very end, which is probably a good thing imo. get people to pledge and reach the 360k goal quickly, however, and they may just add new tiers, as was hinted at in the update.

It is good to finally know that the entire franchise is on the table. However, I do share the concerns noted below about no longer doing the tier approach. There are 12 days left to raise $69,000 but that's going to have to come from new backers or old backers increasing their pledges without reward. I'm a little worried, to be honest. I'm not sure why the tier system which was a proven cash generator, isn't being continued.

I think adding the tiers is the primary reason why the Kickstarter keeps jumping up, so I hope you reconsider and do add an "everything" tier as it gets closer to the end date.

    32. Craig M. on August 30, 2017

I agree with @Kurt Krause. Instead of offering many more upgraded tiers, I'd suggest adding one more set of tiers that are complete tiers (i.e. all seasons and OVAs).

    33. Nathan Augenstein on August 30, 2017

This is amazing news, but I also have to agree with what Kurt said. The lack of new higher tiers will likely slow down our growth quite a bit.

So, new to Kickstarter. How does one get the add-ons? I'd hate to miss out!

    35. Kurt Krause on August 30, 2017

As you mention not adding more tiers and just having people purchase as an ad on, And I realize that this is because it's easier and perhaps a little less confusing, but lets be honest, part of what has caused this campaign to take off like it has, is people purchasing the higher tiers as more season sets are added.

If you remove that option, I think you'll see the growth really slow down as everyone who is currently supporting will no longer be adding to their support and then you're only left relying on people who haven't currently supported.

It could still happen, don't get me wrong, but I think, by just adding new purchase tiers for season 3 part 1 and part 2, you'll for sure hit that final all in goal as those of us already throwing money at you, continue to level up and basically hand you our wallets.

    36. Christopher Bolanos on August 30, 2017

Did they just imply that The Avvenire is now licensed? I can't imagine getting another $80k covers licensing and localization costs...

Also, from the very beginning, it was stated that the chipboard box would be big enough to hold "all future seasons." So even if we don't get the gondola, would the box still be big enough to hold everything should Origination, Arrietta, and Avvenire eventually get released?
