Help us complete our documentary about the hottest new extreme watersport that brings together aerial acrobatics, theatrics and diving! Be part of HydroSports Network's campaign to popularize and create world-wide exposure for this visually spectacular new phenomenon!
About the Project
FLYBOARDING IS A FAIRLY NEW AND VISUALLY STUNNING ACROBATIC WATERSPORT THAT HAS ATHLETES PRODUCING MIND BLOWING STUNTS OVER 4 STORIES IN HEIGHT POWERED BY A JET SKI WITH A 60 FT FIRE HOSE ATTACHED TO THE BOARD PUMPING OUT 1000 GALLONS OF WATER PER MINUTE AT 60 PSI.
Our documentary will showcase how this new technology is changing watersports altogether and will follow some of its top professional competitors through major competitions and through the training it takes to get there and spend unscripted personal and behind-the-scenes time with them so you get a sense of what it’s like to live the life of some of the highest flying extreme sports competitors on the planet.
Throughout the production of our documentary our backers will not only witness first hand, but provide invaluable help with the delivery and the birth of this adrenaline pumping sport on the world media stage.
The Flyboard was invented in 2011 by French JetSki Champion rider, Franky Zapata and now they are distributors of the technology and thousands of Flyboard enthusiasts worldwide. Competitions have been held for professional Flyboard athletes for the last 3 years with great success, but has so far received limited media exposure, with the exception of being featured on some morning TV shows and a short segment on the Discovery Channel.
There are quite a few celebrities that have tried Flyboarding. This has generated some buzz and the list keeps growing: Tom Cruise, Leonardo DiCaprio, Justin Bieber, Jimmy Fallon, and Vin Diesel are just a few.
This project started when our team secured the live video streaming rights for an event in early October 2014 to have the greatest number of Flyboarders in the air at the same time. We helped turn the event into a Guinness World Record attempt and also created our YouTube Channel: HydroSports Network to provide a platform for distribution of the live stream.
At the event we met the inventor Franky Zapata and he liked the high quality of our stream and invited us to live stream their biggest event, the 2014 Flyboard World Cup from Dubai in early December 2014 with about 100 of the world’s top Flyboarding Professionals competing. We turned this event into a four camera switched production complete with on air interviews and commentating to give it a broadcast look and feel.
Our work was very well received by a world wide audience on our HydroSports Network Youtube Channel and we got invited back for the 2015 World Cup. In between events, we shot footage of training and personal interest segments with the local team getting ready for the World Cup in Dubai. That team ended up performing great in Dubai producing top results in both the male and female competition.
There is a great story line here to build a documentary focusing on this new sport showcasing the journey and life of some of its top professionals and we have worked very hard to obtain the footage we have, but we now need to shoot in depth profile segments and other exhibition and major competition footage to tell a compelling story as well as edit everything together in time for release around early Fall 2015.
We are timing the release to take advantage of a scheduled major network TV exposure for the sport and the star of our documentary that will take place this summer and will be very well advertised.

What we need
We need $80,000 to complete the documentary so we can have it ready for broadcast on a network (most likely cable) and/or online or theatrical release to coincide with the major network television exposure of the sport in the Summer of 2015.
This way we can take advantage of the audience of multi-millions who have just been introduced to this new sport and also give us some leverage seeking distribution for broadcast, online or theatrical release as well as entering the documentary into prominent film festivals.
Although we have produced about 19 hours of footage so far, most of that was obtained during the World Cup competition which lasted three days and we need to shoot many hours of the personal interest, in depth profile segments and other exhibition and major competition footage to tell a compelling story. Post Production and Technical Mix (color correction and sound mixing) will take a considerable amount of time given the amount of footage collected and we will also have to ensure it is professionally mixed for either television or theatrical release.
How we will use the money
Every time we share the footage with someone for the first time, it is all “ooohs” and “aaaahs”. This is a great story of an up and coming extreme water sport. The athletes that create these spectacular, visually stunning performances make Flyboarding a fan favorite the world over.
We have about 50% of the documentary shot and about 30% edited. To get here has required lots of faith and sacrifices from our team as well as others. We were able to get assistance for most of the expenses incurred until now in the form of loans as well as agreements from crew and contractors to accept ‘back end’ payments for services rendered, so we’ll settle those from a portion of the money raised.
The bulk of the money will be used for:
• Quality multi-camera shoots with quality sound recording for the personal interest, in-depth profile, behind-the-scenes segments and other exhibition and major competition footage to round out the story.
• Editing, technical mix
• Titles, Animation & Sound Design
• Kickstarter Rewards
• Kickstarter Fees

Risks and challenges
We have been extremely fortunate with this project to be at the right place at the right time, but have also been quick to recognize and develop opportunities with Flyboarding and Team AquaFly...we also have the right production and marketing team in place, armed with professional equipment and decades of expertise and have quickly succeeded in creating a very solid foundation for our documentary.
Given the nature of the project there have of course been many challenges and obstacles, but our experienced team is not only used to, but thrives on tackling those challenges and overcoming obstacles. In a very short time frame of a few months (Oct. 2014 to now) of being introduced to the sport for the first time, we have traveled to Arkansas to organize and document the Guinness World record event. We have shot lots of training and personal interest footage. We have traveled to Dubai in early December 2014 to live stream and document the Flyboard World Cup and have been continuing to editing and acquire additional footage.
This is a very unique opportunity for our team and we want our backers to know that they are supporting a project that has a lot going for it and a very committed, very competent, and very hard working crew giving the best of everything they've got (and more) to see this project succeed!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
