Mutation Madness is two-player card game in which you assume the role of a scientist meddling with genetics. When a dispute regarding the frozen yoghurt in the refrigerator between a fellow scientist escalates, you combine the aspects of ten animals into five mutated creations intent on defeating the opposing scientist's team. Choosing your team of mutated abominations wisely will ensure your victory, and means you finally get to enjoy your yoghurt.
One copy of Mutation Madness will contain the following:
- Two hundred double-printed animal cards, featuring the front- and backside of one hundred different 'regular' animals
- Ten multicoloured tokens, to be used to track different status effects.
- Three dice: a D20, D10 and D6
- Mutation Madness user manual
- Notepad for use with the game
With one hundred different animals, and two hundred different abilities, you have the potential to make some devestating, or very mediocre, combos. Depending on the luck of the draw, and your playstyle, there are many different combinations you can genetically engineer at the start of the game.
Each player draws ten animal cards. They are double-printed, so they show the front- and rear end of the animal.
You need to combine your cards to create five mutated animals, each animal consists of a front side, which has the creature's active ability, and the back side which has its passive ability.
When you have finished your creatures, you determine the starting player. That player begins by revealing their first creature, and resolving any start of play effects. Creature's are revealed one by one, alternating between the players.
After all creatures have been revealed, play starts with the starting player's first creature and alternates between players and creatures next in line until only one side is left standing. When creatures inevitably start dropping, players may take successive turns.
A creature generally uses its active ability on their turn to target another creature (usually the opposing creatures, but you may target your own creatures). The active abilities have a wide variety of effects; generally dealing damage, inflicting poison, stunning the creature, healing, (de)buffing, etc.
Passive abilities either resolve at the start of the game, when a creature is targetted, buff the active ability of the creature or render other useful powers.

The game Mutation Madness itself is already finished. We’ve spent over a year designing, tweaking and balancing the game to make it as fun as it is now. We've come to kickstarter for two reasons:
- We want awesome art
- We want to print the game
While the base game balance has been finalised in regards to abilities, the game still needs to be printed if we are to distribute it to anyone. Having it printed in great number keeps down the cost of each individual unit, so the goal is to print 1000 copies for our first batch. The majority of funds will go towards printing the game, importing it to the Netherlands and paying import taxes.
Additionally, we have not completed our assets. We have teamed up with our great illustrator, who has created the artstyle we were looking for, but drawing one hundred different animals (well, 85 left now) is time consuming work. We have been assured artists need to food to survive, so we're looking to Kickstarter to help fund that!

Risks and challenges
If this project is backed we aim to deliver our game to you by March 2019. This means we will have just under six months to finalise all artwork, text, get the games printed, stuffed in a box and delivered to your doorstep.
Our artist is confident the assets can be delivered within three months, so no worries there. This means we'll have three more months to have some trial copies made and sent to us so we can determine the highest quality before settling on a company to print the entire first batch.
We have compared invoices from several production companies beforehand for all the material that we need, which is what we used to determine the Goal for this Kickstarter.
