About this project
When we are invited to a dinner party or a housewarming party or whatever party, we try to be creative and think of a cool gift, something other than a bottle of wine (again). This was our inspiration for Le Guest Book, the hangover-free gift that really gets better with time, (also it will make your hosts feel like they made the right choice inviting you). Le Guest book is designed to bring back a sense of old time hospitality and record the wonderful moments we spend with friends and family.
Bringing a sense of old time hospitality requires some old time quality and craftsmanship. We designed Le Guest Book to look and feel timeless, so it will age with grace like good memories should. Unfortunately, those things don't come cheap unless you make them in big quantities and then they become cheap(er). And this is where we need your help, we need to get to a critical mass so we can make these book affordable. Here are some details about Le Guest book. It is a hardcover book covered in grey linen and stamped with a gold foil on the front cover, so wether you by it as a gift or for yourself, you can impress and be impressed by all those features. The price of Le Guest book on Kickstarter is $40 max, compare that with the $50 retail price and you should feel extra happy. If you buy 1000 Le Guest Books, you can save $10,000!!!
Inside, each page is designed with several options to accommodate any kind of writing style, from a space that allows free writing to simply answering multiple choice questions about your hosting style. Each page is designed and printed in elegant light blue ink on an off white 80lbs. archival paper and finished with colored edges. Last but not least, Le Guest book flaunts a dark grey marker ribbon.
We do realize we could have taken a less expensive route but we believe that compromises should only be made when choosing a spouse, not when making a guest book. We are working with a couple of printers/binders/magic makers on finalizing large quantities and at this stage all we can say is that the books will be either made in the U.S., Israel or Hong Kong.
Risks and challenges
Manufacturing a product is no walk in the park, (unless that park is that crazy place in the "Hunger games"), it is a great challenge. We did an incredible amount of footwork trying to find a single source that can offset print, color the edges (that was harder than we anticipated) and bind and stamp these books. The good news is that we found two sources that can do it for us and depending of the amount of books purchased, we will order from one of them. However, making sure every book is perfect, sorting and shipping is still a big challenge. That said, we feel we are well equipped in facing these challenges.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
