About this project
Unfortunately we could not reach the goal. The good thing is that we won many friends. Thanks to everyone who believed in us. We will make some changes and re launch this project now without interference Brazil 2014 World Cup.
d by John Rangel for the annual edition of United Arts Projects, "Vincent's Cards" is the result of a great effort; which, with your help will become the first step of a Playing Cards Deck Collection with great painters participating with their best and worldwide recognized work.
John tells us: "Vincent's Cards got started as a mere impulse – I thought that it would be nice to design a deck of cards with the painting of this great Dutch artist, so that as we play with them we will learn and know a bit more about the outstanding work of this post-impressionist artist ”.
Each deck will include 56 cards. All together, 112 different Van Gogh painting will be included. Without repeating any one of them and without even realizing, you and your friends will unknowingly become familiar of Van Gogh’s work. This limited Kickstarter’s edition brings together the art of card playing with the world’s best artwork.
Upon completing the campaign, we will forward an email with all Pledges including a code for freely unloading a PDF e-book that has the title, year and exclusive comments of the paintings included in the two limited edition decks. Three days afterwards, we will release a second code for our Backers to unload a book with several card game rules and a Van Gogh 2014-15 calendar.
The background of the playing cards are designed with letters from Van Gogh to his brother Theo in 1890.
Vincent's playing Cards can only become a reality with your support. Your bids will be invested in the production of these new and unique playing cards. We want each of you to become project founders.
Risks and challenges
The artwork is now completed and ready for printing. Thus, we look forward to receiving the funds in order to send this project to the print shop without delay; which will take 5-8 weeks, according to print shop estimates. Barring any significant difficulties, we expect the entire work to be ready by September 2014..
We will keep you posted, via email and through our webpage, about the state of progress of our production and shipping. Any production problem that might arise will be dealt with and solved personally, professionally and immediately.
All things considered, in the event of a major obstacle (i.e. printing press breakdown, tornado at the USPPC, etc.) we would trigger our Plan-B. In such case, the cards would be manufactured by makeplayingcards.com, who also manufactures quality products and have earlier participated here in Kickstarter.
In terms of storage, as well as national and international shipping logistics, we have everything ready and under control.
Insofar as the production of other accessories such as pictures, shirts, wooden boxes, iPhone covers and wooden pictures is concerned, we also have everything ready and under control. We have stayed in touch with our suppliers since the early part of March and everything is ready and programmed so as to deliver your orders in September.
As your contributions materialize, we will put together the boxes, properly classified and labeled, ready to tuck and mail nationally and internationally.
Quality wise, we strive for perfection without sparing any expenses.
Thank you for taking the time to consider our project :)
