About this project
Risks and challenges
We are developing PGS during last two years. Engineers from Japan, China and Russia are actively working on the development of it.
Our partners from China guarantee the possibility of production of such consoles in their manufacturing facilities with scalable amount of produced devices.
Each stage of our product development involves as various engineering tests, as well as testing on real gamers, including both aspiring and professional players.
Preliminary agreements with independent investors guarantee us proper realization of the project, even in case if there are any additional expenses due to various reasons.
The main help, which we are waiting from Kickstarter and its community, is to identify the interest of end-users in our product and the wide range of problems, which can be solved with it. We are really waiting for your support, which will give us clear answers for these questions.
FAQ
-
It's impossible. Intel Atom z8750 is the most efficient x86-compatible SoC within the thermal design point of 2 watts. Other solutions are either less efficient or consume much more power (hence producing more heat).
-
Yes, we are currently working on an improved prototype version. We'll do our best to show it to you until the end of July.
-
The case will also be made on a 3D printer and the base will be the Voyo V3.
-
This autumn.
-
Depending on the achieved Stretch Goals, the final PCB design may vary significantly. We'll start the design work once the Kickstart campaign ends.
-
The cause it that we can allow it to be that. We know the real production cost of our device, and we think it's a bad idea to get our backers overpaying for the exclusive status.
P.s. The current price is exclusive for Kickstarter. If it turns out that the production cost exceeds the pledge sum this difference, as well as other expenses, will be covered by the investor. The retail price will be higher than the current one.
-
In retail the device will cost 380+ dollars for the senior version.
-
It doesn't play a major role since PGS LAB LLC has got an agreement with investors as for covering all expenses of the production line, first batches of device, its distribution and warranty.
-
We are planning to make 3 versions of Hardcore, each for a specific area. So almost all cellular networks over the world will be covered.
-
If we decide to use active cooling then we will end up with protection against water splashes and rain.
-
Yes, sure. I think we have the right to to do it.
The device is in initial stages of development, so some features may change in time. Hopefully the changes might be only positive. -
We'll keep supporting it as long as the PGS is being sold. You will also be able to use builds from community.
-
When enabling the device you will be able to choose one.
-
You can install any OS which expects the component drivers.
-
The recommended resolution for games on PGS is HD. If switching to it on the screen with initial HD resolution, the image will be slightly blur. In case of QHD it doesn't take place and the pixels multiplying will be proportional.
-
Yes, as with any capacitive sensor display you can use any capacitive stylus.
-
Because neither Qualcomm nor Tegra are compatible with x86 architecture, they are not intended to be used with desktop OSes.
-
Yes, it is possible.
-
PGS is able to run such games as, say, Mass Effect 3 in HD. The more performance-demanding ones, as Witcher 3, can run only in SubHD resolution. Such games are less than 1% of all games.
-
Yes, but only in the Hardcore version.
-
Sure, since the PGS is just a small PC.
-
You will be able to purchase the basic accessories after the device release. They will be sold by our Chinese partners.
-
You will get the option to choose.
-
Yes.
-
The PGS will be equipped with a LED light, which will be located near the frontal camera.
-
Yes, sure.
-
Yes, it is.
-
Both console versions will be equipped with a copper radiator. Possibly the Hardcore version will include active cooling. It is more than enough to prevent overheating.
-
Yes, certainly. We think it's a great product which is developed by excellent experts. We sincerely wish a good luck to the GPD team in realization of their idea.
-
Despite the nonsense of such question we get it quite often. First, the GPD company presented the prototype only after the Indiegogo campaign ended. Second, we are not related to the GPD company in any way. We have our own product and our own path.
-
We'd like to remind you that Kickstarter, being the world crowdfunding leading platform, is still not a shop in its concept. We are not selling the PGS here, we are collecting funds to support its development. And as a reward we will send backers the final device.
