After much consideration, discussion with the manufacturing team and numerous suggestions from Backers. We have decided bring the Titanium version of the Move Pen to life. Please welcome the shiny new addition to the Move Pen Family 'The Titanium Move Mini Bolt Action Pen'.
The Titanium version of the Move Pen will be the same length but weigh about 50% more than the Hard Anodized Aluminum versions at 0.54 oz. (Still quite light for EDC Standards) It has a great feel, is high polished, more durable, more impact resistant and has a higher tensile and shear strength than the Aluminum pens. The Hard Anodized Aluminum versions remain my vision of the truest EDC pen. The titanium version is specifically for those who are looking for an EDC pen with a more premium feel and don't mind a bit of extra heft and paying a little extra.

I’m very excited to introduce to you my project, THE MOVE PEN. It is a mini bolt-action EDC (Every Day Carry) pen that I think you will love. I’m an avid collector of writing instruments and have been inspired by the many pen projects on Kickstarter over the years. For the last couple of years, I have been making efforts to come up with my own pen design that is both practical and unique.
I decided to design an EDC pen because I have not been able to find one that meets my needs on the market. I think an attractive high quality pen that can be carried easily with us everyday is something that most of us need. I also enjoy the additional challenges involved with designing a true EDC pen given the additional limitations on weight and size.

After the findings from the rejected designs and prototypes, I now have a design that I am proud to present to you.
THE MOVE PEN is unique in the fact that it manages to have a bolt-action mechanism while being extremely lightweight and compact. It is a true EDC pen with a keychain/lanyard attachment point. It is machined out of 6061-T6 Aluminum and hard anodized (Matte finish). I decided to make it out of Aluminum Alloy instead of Stainless Steel, Titanium or Brass because it offers the best combination of cost, strength and weight. I chose the bolt-action mechanism for its ruggedness and reliability and because it is just fun to fidget with. The pen is designed to work exclusively with a standard LAMY M22 Refill. It is the only high quality standard refill that is compact enough to meet the design requirements.
Every MOVE PEN will come with a pen body (with bolt-action mechanism), a pen tip, a stainless steel spring and a LAMY M22 Refill.
Measuring at only 3.3 inches (83 mm) and weighing 0.36 ounces (10.3 grams). THE MOVE PEN is light and compact enough to be carried with you on a keychain or in your pocket at all times, while still remaining comfortable to write with when you need it. There are no caps to unscrew so you won’t risk losing your pen while it’s on your keychain.
Sporting an attractive minimalist design, THE MOVE is durable in the looks department as well. It is available in two colors, metallic silver (clear hard anodized) and dark charcoal grey (grey hard anodized).
I need your help to make this a project a reality. I had the prototypes machined and the design is finalized, but in order to have the manufacturer make this at a reasonable price, there needs to be a much higher quantity. Thank you very much for your support!

With many years of experience in the Mechanical Engineering field. I have brought several products to market through working closely with manufacturing partners, hardware suppliers and vendors. I have kept communication with my manufacturing partner throughout the final stages of design and prototyping. The prototypes that you see in the pictures and video are CNC machined and anodized, they are high quality and the production time was minimum, this was only possible by having a close relationship with a competent manufacturing team. I have confidence that my manufacturing partner will be able to deliver high quality final products for all of us to enjoy.
My name is Oliver, I’m a Mechanical Engineer and Product Designer and I love what I do. I enjoy making things work and taking ideas from concept all the way to reality. The Engineering of products is both challenging and rewarding. I also love design, especially the field of industrial design. I have great respect for products that are designed well and for the designers who conceived them. I strive to give my products the same amount of care and attention in both Design and Engineering. I hope THE MOVE PEN can be an example of that.
Risks and challenges
Throughout the design and prototyping process, I have developed a great working relationship with my manufacturing partner. However, there are always potential risks and challenges going from prototypes to mass production. Depending on the quantity of the order and the schedule of the machine shop during the upcoming holidays. The delivery time could be pushed back. I am also finalizing the packaging for the pen right now and even though the design of the pen is finalized, if I see areas where minor improvements can be made during the production process, I will take the opportunity to do so if it won't impact the delivery time too much. A high quality final product is most important. I will do my best to meet or exceed the listed delivery estimate and will let everyone know if there are any changes to the schedule via project updates.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
