We created Gift-a-Green because we wanted to bring some "LIFE" to the greeting card industry. Literally! Our Gift-a-Green greeting cards pack a powerful pouch of fresh and organic healthy microgreen seeds that allow you to send it and your recipient to grow (and eat) it.
Each pouch is designed as a greeting card & gift combo. Simply choose a theme, write your personal message on the back and add a stamp. Now your Gift-a-Green is ready to be mailed to someone special.
Each one of our 5 exclusive and freshly sealed pouches comes fully equipped with organic soil and non-GMO, organic microgreen seeds which your family, friends and colleagues will adore. They get to plant the seeds and then watch them grow into a healthy and delicious garnish that they can add to any one of their favourite dishes.
Don't be mistaken! We love receiving regular greeting cards. Who doesn't!! It's just too bad the excitement ends as soon as we read the card.
But with Gift-a-Green... this is where the excitement begins!
Well, because we love unique and thoughtful gifts. The idea for Gift-a-Green was born after we gave up searching for gift ideas to add to tactup, our online social address book marketplace. It became obvious there was a need for a gift that bundled up the connection + relationship + user experience piece that we were looking for. After several months of brainstorming, market research, planning and design we are now super excited to introduce Gift-a-Green...
Arugula is very low in calories and is a good source of vitamins A and C, folate, calcium, and magnesium. It can be eaten raw, added to salads with other salad greens, or cooked.
Sunflower micros are also high in zinc, an essential mineral for men, as well as folate, essential for pregnant women, aiding in the development of the baby’s nervous system. Considering their sweet, earthy flavor and crisp texture, sunflower micros are a great snack and can easily be incorporated into a number of dishes.
Purple radish microgreens are vibrant and colorful and a perfect addition to any dish. The flavor is exactly that of radishes, adding the perfect zip to salads, soups, and sandwiches. They are also packed with vitamins A, B, C, E, and K, as well as all of the essential amino acids.
Mustard is an easy to grow green with a bite. This is the same plant that yields spicy seeds for the condiment. It is high in vitamins A and C, iron, and beta-carotene.
Kale is one of the healthiest vegetables on the planet. It is high in iron and Vitamin K. Iron is essential for good health. Given its high nutritional value and great taste, it makes a great side dish, garnish or dessert.
We produce Gift-a-Green right here in our workshop in beautiful Vancouver, B.C., Canada. Our seeds and soil are sourced from Canadian suppliers and are certified organic and non-GMO. We take the utmost pride in providing a healthy and eco-social product that can be loved by all.
We have sourced the finest certified organic, non-GMO microgreen seeds around as well as partnered with a local supplier of organic soil and fertilizer. Our first test production run was a success, but now we need to manufacture and produce 1000's of pouches. This is where you come in. Kickstarter, we need your help to help us fund our large inventory order which will help keep costs low and enable us to ramp up production in our workshop.
With any additional funds over and above our goal, we want to build a website that will allow everybody to fully customize and ship their own custom Gift-a-Green's direct from giftagreen.com. We want our platform to allow users to generate any message they want, pick the type of organic microgreens they prefer and then have their Gift-a-Green shipped to any recipient they choose. Creative, Simple and Efficient! That's what we want to build. Kickstarter, please help make Gift-a-Green a leader in eco-social gifting!
Our office and packaging facility are both located in Vancouver, B.C., Canada. We have partnerships in place with certified organic seed suppliers and local manufacturing facilities for the pouches which make production and inventory safe.
Delayed shipping may occur should we experience a high volume of orders outside of North America. We will work with our partners and suppliers in other countries to expedite shipping beyond international borders. There may be some countries where shipping seeds through the mail may not be possible. We will do our absolute best to communicate with and refund those backers should this not be possible.
Because our initial test run enabled us to perfect the production and logistics, this is a low-risk campaign.
