About this project
Thank you all so much for your support and for helping me reach my goal! This is going to be a really great album and I cant wait to share it with you all! However, now is the time to make some really great things happen! If we raise...
$6000: Everyone who pledged will receive 5 Maxwell Hughes stickers and 5 temporary tattoo!!!
$7000: I will finally take control of my live sound and invest in the proper equipment to make sure that whenever you hear me live, it sounds the best it can possibly sound!
$8000: Everyone who pledged will get a fully produced EP of all of my cover songs. I will take those recording, along with my original material, and pitch it to my publisher. Hopefully, you will hear one of my songs in TV/Film!!!
$10,000: Everyone who pledges will be invited to the most rockin CD release party ever! It will be a catered event with local beer from New Belgium Brewery; topped off with the best music the area has to offer!
My name is Maxwell Hughes and I am an instrumental guitarist out of Fort Collins, Colorado. I have been writing music for 10 years, self produced two full length albums, have been featured on TEDx Talks, and in February, I became a Grammy Nominated songwriter for my contribution to The Lumineers hit album.
My new album, Only In Dreams, is the body of work from the last 2 years. My writing style has matured tremendously and I am excited about the direction that my music has taken. Unlike my previous two albums, Only In Dreams will have the necessary resources to make it a professional and quality album. I have teamed up with Mammoth MGMT and we are anticipating the albums release in May...but I need your help!
My goal of $5000 will go towards:
- Professional recording, mixing and mastering of this album.
- Paying for a producer (Myron Dove, former bassist for Santana)
- Album artwork, packaging and production.
- Music videos for album promotion.
- Money surpassing the goal will be used as touring funds.
It's no mystery that the costs of putting out a quality album are high. A community funding effort distributes those costs in exchange for goods and services. It is a win-win scenario for everyone.
In exchange for your pledges, there are some awesome "gift-backs" listed below. If you like my music but can't afford to pledge, you can show your support by spreading the word (post a link on your Facebook, tell a friend, email someone who might be interested). After all, I wouldn't be able to share my music without people hearing it!

Risks and challenges
Recording a quality album is a big deal! There is a lot of work to be done including organizing the recording, mixing, mastering, production, promotion, and all things associated with an album. Luckily, I am now working with a Mammoth MGMT who will be facilitating the entire process. The only thing they cannot help with, is the financial side. That's why I need your help!
I have attempted a previous kickstarter to raise funds for this album. Originally, it was going to be a full band arrangement and have some amazing guest musicians on it. I set that pledge goal at $20,000. I have since restructured the album and it will now be a solo instrumental album. Needless to say, it cut costs dramatically.
I have no doubts that this is going to be my best album to date and am aware of the time and money necessary to produce said album. Any support you can give, from word of mouth to pledging, is greatly appreciated! And remember, this is an all or nothing fundraiser. If my goal isnt met, I get nothing. Nada.
