WHY WE NEED MORE FUNDS
We are 80% completed with Beacon Point! It has already been shot and edited, and the movie looks AMAZING! The hard part is over. We just need a bit more money to really take our movie to the next level. We plan to use the money from this campaign to get world class visual FX, sound and color correction, and then share our movie with the world. You can be part of Beacon Point by pledging your support. Check it out! We have a ton of great prizes and pledge levels for you to chose from.
If you’ve ever been hiking or camping alone, far away from civilization, you’ll know how creepy things can get. That was my inspiration for writing Beacon Point. I've had some very strange and very creepy experiences deep in the woods. Late at night, away from the world, even the smallest noise can make you question why you are out there. My goal was to take these experiences and channel them into a fresh story. I wanted to write a horror-thriller screenplay that would break many of the cliches and imagery that so many movies have rehashed. My co-writer, Traci Carroll, and I set out to do just that and within 4 months we had an awesome screenplay, Beacon Point.
The movie melds American Indian legends and an ominous and remote area of the Great Smoky Mountains to create the perfect environment for our story. As filmmakers, we love well made, entertaining movies, that challenge the viewer. We wanted to make a movie that we’d want to watch, and that we could be proud of.
We shot Beacon Point in 23 days in Georgia and North Carolina during the summer of 2013, and what we have is truly incredible. As local Georgia filmmakers, we tapped into the amazing industry here. It was a real advantage. We had a phenomenal cast and crew, who worked their butts off, gorgeous locations and really stretched our budget to shoot an incredible movie. Everything worked. What we need now is a few extra bucks to make our entire vision come to life.
WHAT WILL THE MONEY BE USED FOR?
When you help us reach our goal, we will use the funds to finish our movie. This includes:
- World Class Visual FX - This is a process of digitally creating visual FX elements on a computer, then adding them into the movie. We want our visual FX to look incredible. Through our contacts, we've been lucky enough to have some of the best visual FX artists around ready to work on our movie. This will give Beacon Point even more production value and marketability.
- Audio Work - Sound design / FX, audio mixing and dialogue cleanup. Audio is one of the most important parts of the post production process. Amazing audio will separate our movie from 95% of the other indie movies on the market.
- Color correction (adjusting and leveling the overall look of the movie), is another key element in finishing our film. We have a stellar colorist, ready to finish Beacon Point. This will really make the movie pop visually.
- Lastly, we will need money to sell the movie. This includes providing deliverables (DVD copies, licensing, legal work, photos, music copies, etc...), festival submissions and marketing the movie. This is crucial to get our movie out to the world and sold.
We have some amazing movie professionals lined up to work on Beacon Point and take it to the next level. But we can’t do it without money. That’s where you come in. Pledge your support and join our team!
Beacon Point is already getting recognized for our amazing trailer and art work. Wait until you see the finished movie!
