Shame on you! You made an ad (even if it was online) and used music you didn't have a right to use. There is no way you could realistically have believed this was "fair use", and if your lawyer said it was, you need a new lawyer.

I'm very disappointed to see GoldieBlox in the news filing an unmerited lawsuit against the Beastie Boys just because you heard they were going to sue you - they had every right to do so when you stole their music in ad to promote your product without clearance.

If someone had stolen your idea (maybe "GoblinBlox" and marketed it as a "fair use" product, you would have taken the same position as the remaining Beastie Boys. Instead you tried to bluff your way out of the situation and only backed off when it was obvious you would not have won. An ad is an ad - the "fair use" rules do not apply.

I was excited to back your product, but now I regret having done so and am ashamed to be associated with it: it seems like you are not working to empower girls, just yourselves. It's very sad as I am still committed to receiving the third set and now I'm embarrassed to give it as a gift.

I'm really disappointed in you guys. As you can see I pledged your Kickstarter, I bought two of your first toys for my niblings. You had a good message - I was inspired. But now you've lost so much of my respect I can't in good conscience buy any of your toys again. When I saw your latest video I assumed you had obtained permission to use the Beastie Boys song. I was, obviously, so wrong. Even if you might be able to squeak through on legal grounds (which I am dubious of), morally it is wrong to abuse the dying wish of one of their members. The ends do not justify the means. Please rethink your marketing strategy and go back to being a respectable and inspiring company.

As someone that believed in you and your product enough to back it on Kickstarter, I have a request: I would like to know if you are truly trying to build a product that will "get girls building" or just trying to sell a product because you happened upon a niche that needed to be filled and are flexing your viral marketing and brand strategy chops.

Along with many other people who have shared Goldie Blox with young girls, when I shared it with many 8-10 year olds, none of them found the product very interesting or a way to engage in the engineering process. How are you addressing this? I understand from reading the GB website that you spent a year on research but I'm not convinced that the product is living up to the desired results.

It seems as though all the attention Goldie Blox is receiving lately is because of viral marketing videos and attacking Toys R Us and the Beastie Boys and less due to a product that truly disrupts the "pink aisle" and focuses on supporting more girls in STEM. I backed your promise of a product that would help girls learn about and remain engaged and interested in engineering not a promise to be great at marketing a mediocre product.

I appreciate that Goldie Blox is a young toy company trying to set itself apart from an overwhelming amount of competition, but right now it seems as though your efforts are less about teaching engineering skills to girls and more about taking advantage of the growing movement to support females in technology and engineering, so you can sell toys.

      Thank you.

I'm confused. Sometime in September (I think) I recieved an update stating the Whole Gang would be shipped before November 15th. Just yesterday (Nov 4) I recieved a new Goldie Blox and her spinning Machine book, but not the Whole Gang as I was expecting. Will the Whole Gang still be shipped/recieved by Nov 15th? Does this new book I just recieved replace the old one? Or is it all new content? Please help

    8. Debbie Sterling Creator on October 9, 2013

@Christine Porschet Please check your email (the one you used to sign up for Kickstarter). We re-sent you the update on the Whole Gang! :)

@Carmen We actually just sent out an update on 'Get the Whole Gang'. Let me resend it to you :) Check your email inbox!

What's the status of "the whole gang"? I haven't heard any updates on games #2 or #3, and we're now into August when it was expected to be shipped, though I assume that date will slip. I don't mind that it's late, but I would be interested to hear a status update.

      Hello Debbie,
Are we still on track to get the rest "of the gang" by August?

    19. John Garner on May 31, 2013

The distribution/fulfilling side of this project was not really well managed. I have chased you guys for weeks, explained that I'd really just like to have an idea of what is going on. If things are delayed, fine you're new to all this but keeping people informed and letting them know what to expect is not that complicated, but has not and is not happening! Not impressed...

Received the toy this morning! It's VERY professionally done! It looks amazing and I really think my niece will love it! Thank you so much!

I wanted to comment about how great this toy is. I bought two sets - one for me (adults like to play, too) and one for my niece who is now 4 1/2. I brought it to her when I visited her family, and she loved it! She was completely disappointed when we had to put it away because we needed to run errands. But at her first opportunity, she asked if she could play with The Spinning Machine again. Looking forward to the next two books!

Wow! I live right in the US and contacted this company before my move to tell them a new address. The response I got was "we've already shipped it, it should find you at some point." We'll, it never found me, contacted them one to two weeks later and advised them, again, of no arrival or product and new address. Told again something to the effect, "sorry it's already been shipped and there's no way to change that." Here I am a month or so later and sent them another email asking if anyone, anyone at all, from is company can help. Then I come here and find that people are buying them retail and backers don't even have them! Shame on you, Ms. Sterling. Thanks for taking care of those who helped give your idea life. Really, would it have been that hard?

I just got my GoldieBlox in the mail today and my daughter and I have played with it. Okay my daughter is only 14 months old and mostly hugged the little Flavio but this is going to be a great toy for her to grow into. The quality is fantastic, I have no doubts that we'll be playing with this for years to come. Thank you again for all your updates and please keep making more GoldieBlox adventures!

Last I heard via email was the shipment arrived but is stuck in customs and we would get a Fedex shipment email "any day now" (that was last week - we're almost 2 weeks from the initial arrival date of Feb. 26).

I then encouraged them to send out a mass update, pointed out that Kickstarter recommends sending out an update when there are problems like this with making the date, and in return all I got was silence - no response at all to that suggestion that they post a new update.

So yeah, I join your concerns Bryon, we should have had an update by now. It worries me when there is no transparency with backers about problems with a Kickstarter.
