Heading back to harbour
Crowdfunding is a lot like sailing. If you get off to a strong start and catch a good tailwind, you and your crew generally get to where you're going on time. But if the winds aren't with you, you're becalmed, you drift, you run out of food, and everyone dies.
We're fortunate to have enough experience on our team to know what kind of start we need to get where we're going, and as hard as it is to make the call, this wasn't the start we needed for Landfall to fund successfully. It's by no means a failure of the project or the people on it, but more a confluence of factors--some recognised, some as yet unknown--that need to be assessed and addressed before a re-launch down the track.
We think to ensure the future of the project, we'd be better off conserving our resources at this early date, pulling back, and reassessing the presentation of our project--the delivery, pitch, costings, keywords, marketing, etc--and the consumer market for 6 months before re-launching under more favourable conditions.
Thank you to everyone who's pushed for us, helped us and cheered us on so far. We will remain close with our community and continue to work to improve the project in the intervening months, and appreciate your support and help along the way. We believe in Landfall and our aim is to put a superlative product in your hands. If we have to take a step back to try again, we're more than willing.
