Grave Danger is a 2D side-scrolling adventure game about utilizing unique characters to solve puzzles and stay alive. Run, jump, float, shoot, and slice your way through puzzles involving teamwork and precision!
Alternate between each hero: Dante the cowboy, Elliot the wizard, and Malice the reaper. Use their different abilities to solve puzzles and make their way out of trouble.
Manage your party and keep everyone alive. Nobody likes a dead teammate. Don't leave your heroes unattended in a dangerous spot or they might get beat up!
Play Single player or Co-op to solve puzzles! Enlist your friends to control all three characters locally, utilizing them to their maximum potential. If you can't play with a friend or want the completely single player experience, that's fine too; the game will be completely playable in either mode.
Teamwork is essential in Grave Danger. Each character must pull their weight and traverse the world to safety. Dante is capable of climbing vertical walls. Malice can float horizontally across chasms and through narrow and dangerous areas. Elliot has magical elevation and can jump again once mid-air.
Grave Danger’s gameplay is about utilizing each character’s unique abilities to solve puzzles. The player will switch between these characters and master their movements and attacks, guiding our heroes further into the story.
The inspirations for Grave Danger are rooted in classic Super Nintendo greats: The Lost Vikings, Mega Man, and Castlevania. Campiness, problem solving, and teamwork stem from The Lost Vikings, while the fast paced combat and movement abilities of the Mega Man series keep it action-packed. The darker and spookier themes can be attributed to our love for the Castlevania series.
WANTED: Dead AND Alive
Dante, Malice, and Elliot have all been cast as outlaws, and it's up to you to help them clear their names. In a world that wants you both Dead AND Alive, there's no rest for the living and or unliving.
All Digital Copy tier backers will have access to the game on Windows PC, Mac, or Linux.
Additionally, Grave Danger will be developed for the Wii U, Xbox One, and PS4 as a digitally downloaded title. We're already approved for development on all of these platforms. With the support of Kickstarter backers, we'll be able to make Grave Danger a cross-platform console experience!
Another Character - $45k
If we hit this stretch goal, we will add a fourth playable character to the game. This would change the dynamics of how we design the levels, as each level would have a different combination of three of the four heroes.
Remote Cooperative Multiplayer - $60k
We'll spend the time and resources to make sure you can play Grave Danger with your friends over the network and not just locally. This broadens the scope of the project greatly and would justify hiring another programmer to help make it happen.
Character & World Expansion - $80k
If we hit this stretch goal, we'll be able to develop a whole new character and set of levels with a new theme. This would broaden the game's scope to five unique characters and seven beautifully drawn world themes.
Deadly Boss Fights - $100k
If the almighty $100,000 Deadly Boss Fights stretch goal is reached, we will dedicate time and resources to developing a deadly boss fight level to the end of each world.

We're a small independent studio founded by Jeff Brooks in August 2014 in Omaha, Nebraska. Jeff has worked with a large pool of game developers in the Omaha area, and calls upon their talents at JB Gaming. In 2015 we produced two mobile games and partnered with Make-A-Wish Nebraska for a mobile application. This year, we're shifting our focus to the PC and console market to create REAL gaming experiences!
Jeff Brooks is the lead developer, creative director, and main contact. He's been developing games since childhood, and is a pillar of unification in the game development environment. He'll be leading programming, level design, and directing every aspect of Grave Danger from start to finish.
Michael Kingery is a seasoned video game developer and is heading up a majority of the artwork for Grave Danger. He'll be painting the game world and enemies, and brainstorming day-to-day with Jeff.
Dustin Lincoln created the Grave Danger title screen graphic and if enticed enough may create more awesome artwork. Dustin is a super talented illustrator that brings attitude and flavor in his illustrations, and has worked on a variety of games in the industry.
Tony Ferguson created the main animated characters for Grave Danger. Tony is a talented video game artist and has worked with JB Gaming on multiple projects. You can catch him on his etsy store where he makes awesome t-shirts!
Ken Snyder a.k.a. "coda" is producing the Grave Danger soundtrack. Ken is a talented artist that brings games to life with his impressive high energy tracks. His work screams personality and takes the audio quality to a whole new level. Ken has worked on many video game titles and has already started composing the Grave Danger soundtrack.
Evin Grost is our marketing artist. She's a talented illustrator who's been hard at work producing the artwork for our Kickstarter, including the wanted posters and stretch goals. She'll be producing more awesome artwork as we need it.
The Kickstarter community is engaged, and we need your support! Without you, Grave Danger may not be as amazing as it should be! With your help, we can continue to contract great artists and programmers to create Grave Danger and bring it to full realization. We'll be able to allocate the attention it needs, and reward you with a great game, console releases, and fun merchandise.
Kickstarter is an essential part of Grave Danger because it is the first place for you to help us bring it to life. We want Grave Danger to grace the console marketplaces to get a fully immersive, controller-in-hand experience. With Kickstarter, we can purchase the appropriate development kits and hardware to make this happen.
This Kickstarter campaign not only determines the realization of Grave Danger, but the trajectory of JB Gaming in general. With your support, JB Gaming can grow and compete in larger markets. Every dollar of support put into this campaign will be spent with the intention of growing an honest video game company bent on creating fun and beautiful games.
Risks and challenges
JB Gaming is an already established development studio and we're working day-to-day. This mitigates a lot of risk for the project, as we know we'll be able to put in the hours and deliver a great video game. This doesn't mean we're entirely risk-free, though.
Grave Danger's largest risks are development issues with porting to consoles. This will be JB Gaming and it's developers' first time creating a console game, and we look forward to this challenge! Who hasn't dreamed of making a video game for the most beloved home consoles? It is definitely a possibility that the game could take longer than anticipated to ship to all three target consoles simultaneously.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
There is now a tier for a physical copy of the game. Any hard copy tier pledges or tiers pledged $80 or more will receive a physical copy of the game.
That's fine, we'll send out a survey to all the tombstone reward holders when the campaign completes to see what they want written on their personal eternal resting place in Grave Danger.
When the campaign completes, we'll send out a survey with this detail for you to fill in. This will allow you the chance to write in the name you wish to mark the grave, and we'll implement it as best we can and place it in the world.
How the tombstone may look depends on where it ends up in the game. This means that there will be multiple world themes and not every grave will be spooky-horror themed. Depending on the setting that the name ends up in, and what our world crafting backers choose, it may range from candy-land to jurassic park.
