We are focusing on American kids, because it's too easy for many Americans to think that war just happens somewhere else. Yet, millions of American children have close relatives who have served in combat, and for most American children, we have been at war their entire lives.
Kids are smart and curious and unencumbered by history. They come to the topic of war with fresh eyes and may help us look at the topic in a new way. And, they will grow up quickly to become voters and some may serve as soldiers, so they should be part of the discussion.
