Update #5

REWARDS & WEBSITE

Comment

Hello pals!

Just a quick note to let you know we have not forgotten you! We're working hard to put together a broadcast that we can all be proud of supporting. Rewards will be sent out as soon as possible. MP3s and MDR posters are on the way. All other prizes will be sent the week following May Day. For those that signed up for the Silent Disco or Ed Bear's workshop, you'll be hearing from us in the first week of May.

We now have a simple WEBSITE where you can tune into our live stream on May 1st. We'll release the FM station number on May Day (or the day before), so be sure to check back!

On our site you will find ways that you can contribute your talents, skills and voices to the broadcast. MDR relies on the participation of the diverse and enthusiastic voices that make up New York City and the larger community that is the 99%. We hope you will contribute!

Warm regards,

May Day Rad Team

THANK YOU EVERYONE !!!

WE

ARE

SO

CLOSE.

As a little treat, check out our SoundCloud to hear MDR's unofficial anthem mixed by DJ Drumcircle. We hope to use SoundCloud as place to share content from anyone who wants to participate across our broad community of workers. Get on the mic, the mixer, or the handy recorder! Stay tuned for ways to contribute, for real.

We only have 24 hours left and we're $823 away from our funding target!!! We're confident that we can get there, but we'll need your help in the home stretch.

SHOUT IT FROM THE ROOFTOP. PASS A NOTE IN CLASS. TALK ABOUT US AT THE WATER COOLER! A.K.A. SEND AN EMAIL / TWEET / FB OUR KICKSTARTER LINK.

News to brag about:

+Dan Funderburgh recently donated a limited edition illustration specifically May Day Radio!! See attached image and details below.*

+Dominic Wagner aka Cazeaux OSLO has sent us his mixtape and we promise you will have your ears and minds cracked opened by songs of playful resistance and resilience. I wish I could identify the huge range of musical influences he's included, but you'll just have to donate to find out. So good, people!!!

+Alexis Georgopoulos aka ARP also sent us a taste of what he's working on and from what we've heard, his mix is sure to help you forget what you're so mad about and just start dancing your way through your day or a menial task like moving your money from a bank to a credit union. :)

THANKS SO MUCH FOR EVERYTHING EVERYONE HAS ALREADY DONE. AND IF YOU ARE JUST GETTING AROUND TO IT, IT'S NOT TOO LATE.

SPONSOR AN FM RADIO. HELP US ENSURE EVERYONE GETS ACCESS TO THE AIR WAVES: Our May Day broadcast will be available in a variety of mediums. Livestreaming will allow anyone with a computer or an internet-enabled smartphone to listen in. Microtransmitters scattered throughout the city will make the broadcast available to anyone that can pick up an FM signal. Lots of devices are equipped to do this - transistor radios, boomboxes, FM headsets, and most smartphones. But we’d like our broadcast to be available to anyone who wants to to listen in. For those who don’t have any of those things, we’d like to hand out some spares to keep everyone in the loop.

MIXTAPE MP3 DOWNLOAD: The power of music to energize, incite, and bring people together is a huge inspiration behind May Day Radio. Our vinyl obsessed friends Dominic Wagner and Alexis Georgopoulos have generously made mixes especially for this campaign. If you donate $20, your ears will thank you for it. Mixes will be made available as MP3 downloads. Please specify from whom you would like to hear - each download is offered separately.

EXITRIP WORKSHOP WITH ED BEAR: The Exitrip transmitters that we’ll be using to microcast throughout the city on May Day are the brainchild of sound engineer/artist Ed Bear. Using iPod accessories that became obsolete after Apple introduced a new generation of mp3 players, he reverse-engineers the devices so they can transmit an FM signal from any audio source you choose. For a $35 donation, you can attend a workshop with Ed where he will teach you how to make your own Exitrip to use on May Day and any other day you’d like to use the device. Materials provided.

TICKET TO SILENT DISCO: “If I can’t dance, I don’t want to be part of your revolution” are the famous words of legendary feminist and activist Emma Goldman. We couldn’t agree more. People who donate $45 to our project will receive tickets to a silent disco here in NYC, hosted by NYC Silent Disco. Location TBA. https://www.facebook.com/nycsilentdisco
