About
Confections + Coffee, Inc. started out as a humble little food blog in 2011. While working for the blog, Kelli decided to start selling some of her desserts during the holidays and is quickly outgrowing her little apartment kitchen. After several weeks of discussions, Kelli and Irene decided to take a leap of faith and partner up together to open a business doing something they truly love: being a part of a growing community. Now, Confections + Coffee, Inc. is owned and operated by Kelli Smith and Irene Campbell of Norman, Oklahoma.
"I remember growing up in Texas," Kelli recaps, "and my favorite thing about birthdays and holidays were the cakes and pies we would make. I loved the smell of things baking, I loved the sprinkles on the cake, and I loved the atmosphere of celebrating with family and friends. It was always a good time when there was dessert. Today, I love Norman and I can officially say it has become my home. But after being here for 13 years, I have yet to find a bakery that I can call my favorite. A bakery that makes those southern sweets I used to eat growing up? It doesn't exist yet and I want to make that happen. I want to share with others the joy of eating a perfect slice of classic cake or pie."
"Having been born and raised in Norman, I definitely call it home." Irene states, "I love the people and the community that exists here. That being said, I fully support the small businesses that help to contribute and sustain the city of Norman. There are staple spots that I've grown up knowing and loving and want to help create more of those for future generations. What better way to create great memories with family and friends than by sharing conversations over a sweet dessert, unlike anything you can get here locally!"
"All of these recipes are mine," Kelli adds, "I've developed and perfected each one to be the best you've ever had. I have spent hours in the kitchen testing and retesting cake, frosting, practicing decorating techniques. These recipes are one of a kind... except for a few of the pie recipes. Some of those are my late great grandmother's. You've heard it before: If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
We are raising funds to open a small business here in Norman. We want to bring you those southern sweets that you grew up with such as a classic yellow cake, white cake, red velvet cake, apple pie, and cherry pie, to name a few. But we will also be making desserts for those with special dietary needs such as gluten free options, paleo options, and even a couple of vegan options.
We need your help, Norman! We want you to be a apart of this awesome and delicious adventure! We want to be a part of the community and we want you to be a part of our success! We can't do this without you!
Here are some delicious pictures of a few of the cakes we will sell!

Risks and challenges
Our biggest risk is finding a store front with an already equipped bakery that's ready to go. This will save us thousands of dollars on reconstruction of a non-restaurant business. We have already taken precaution and have found a fantastic shop we want to move in to, but we need the funding to put down a deposit and to afford opening our doors.
If this particular business does not work out (i.e. it sells before we can get it), we have several people working with us to find a ready-to-go business if such a situation arises.
