Come on a journey around the world in song with Peace of Heart Choir. We need your support to record and produce our new CD of World Music. The 2015 CD will be bigger and better--more songs and higher-quality recording!
The title of the new CD is "Pieces of the World," taken from an original song composed by choir member Brian Muni that is included in our repertoire for the spring season. The song emerged from his work with a group of young people who accidentally broke a globe and then wanted to, quite literally, put the world back together--a poignant metaphor for the dream and struggle we face in making a better world for us all.
There's more information below, but let's pause for a quick view of the BLOOPER REEL from the video:
We deliver the joy of live music to many people who can’t get it any other way. Each year, we perform about 20 free outreach concerts at area shelters, hospitals, hospices and nursing homes, as well as at public libraries and parks. Our aim is to promote healing, diversity, community bonding, and mutual understanding through music.
We sing in a wide variety of vocal styles, including International, Jazz, Folk, American Standards, Traditional and even Classical tunes. We also sing in multiple languages, including Swahili, Igbo, Spanish, Portuguese, Hebrew, Irish and Chinese.
The money we raise in this campaign will enable us to record the album, to mix and master the songs and print the CDs professionally. You can make a difference.
The choir is trained and directed by Robert René Galván, a professional musician and choral director with over 20 years of experience. Mr. Galván also is proficient in recording, mixing and producing vocal music, and has done this for many other choirs prior to beginning his affiliation with Peace of Heart Choir in 2010.
But don't just take our word for it, listen to a few of our recordings:

Risks and challenges
We completed our first CD project in 2013 on time and on budget. That debut CD was a runaway hit, selling out within 6 weeks of initial delivery.
We have more than 14 years of experience producing live music, rehearsing and performing weekly throughout the fall and spring seasons. We've recently performed at the National September 11 Memorial and Museum.
One challenge we face is securing a recording studio. Our home rehearsal studio, Manhattan Theatre Club, is not designed as a recording facility. This campaign will help us secure funds for rental of a modest recording studio which will help us produce a high-quality CD. Another minor challenge is to secure a mechanical reproduction license for a few songs that are not in the public domain. This is a small portion of the project budget, about $500.00. We have already been in touch with BMI and the Harry Fox Agency to obtain terms for the proper license.
The choir is self-managed by a dedicated core group that includes professional singers, musicians, designers, marketers, programmers and community activists. We are supported by a hands-on Board of Directors who never fail to roll up their sleeves to help us in times of need. Together the choir membership and the Board set realistic goals and make sure to follow-through. That's why we have endured since 2001 and are now 60 members strong.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
